- Travelling the Anne Beadell and Connie Sue highways (A loose description for a highway)
Its late 2020. COVID has really affected travel.
So a small group of us manage to get permits to travel though some Aboriginal country in the Goldfields of Western Australia.
This was a fantastic journey, where we experienced many conditions and encounters. The trip from Perth to Laverton was easy, effortless. At Laverton we dropped on to the gravel and the journey really began. What a fantastic trip it was from easy gravel roads, sandy dirt tracks and some fantastic camp sites and places to visit, including Yeo Homestead and Neale Junction.
This is a trip Id love to do again, knowing what I know now, Id take it slower, relaxed, enjoy the surroundings.
Join myself, Phil and Deb, Neale and Margaret as we head down the Anne Beadell and Connie Sue highways.
This first story is easy and relaxed. The fun starts as we head south.

This was a well made and informative video and looks to be a great trip. thanks for sharing it.
Thanks for watching. Much appreciated. I enjoy the whole process of making the vids, just don’t have time to do more of them.
I spent a couple of years working for WMC chasing Nickel exploration out right to the sa border I absolutely loved it
It really is beautiful country. Im kinda thinking I might attempt the Canning Stock route....
I have read some of Len's books and I followed your trip when she was born one of the original developers of Australia
It really is beautiful country out there Mike. I love it.
Actually, for adventure footage.......this is a pretty good effort, thx to the author. I expected the terrain past laverton to be utterly tree less. I also expected the roads to be much worse.
Thanks Wazza. It was a great trip. Going to duplicate some of it this July.
Thanks for your video. 👏
In Dec 1988 I was part of a convoy of green vehicles that went north to south on the Connie Sue. There was a small roundabout at Neale Junction as well as the information plate/plaque, as well as a box holding a visitors book. The last entry before ours was made 30 days prior. There was no other infrastructure, like camping areas and toilets. The track running down from Warburton wasn't bad, but not nicely graded like you encountered in parts on the Anne Beadell. We had prep'd for extreme heat but it didn't get that hot for us. Most of our driving fun started south of NJ, due to recent rain. With wet ground, rabbit burrows would give way under our trucks.
Thanks for watching the vid David. I’m sure the conditions would have been tougher in ‘88.
We did the Gunbarrel in #Smoky60Series towing the #VelcroPalace

What time of year did you travel? Fantastic video series, thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks Jeffrey. That trip was October 2020. Can’t wait to do it again.
We are about to head out to the Pilbara for 2 weeks. Hopefully I can edit it quickly.
What brand is the shiny Trailer?
Im not sure. I bought it from a guy who had it custom made as a service trailer. Ive modified it.
