Hi folks, I have enjoyed part 1.
Some time ago, I read of Len Beadell's exploits in creating the road network part of which you are now transversing. I must say, the road looks in better condition than the black and white pictures within the book. I wonder what happened to the Land Rover and earthmoving equipment used by your grandfather. I'll have to see if I can find the book and have another read.
Another fellow I follow, Doug Rorison, travelled some of the roads, and recorded videos called "Australia's Longest Shortcut, The Outback way". That would've been about four years ago. He was travelling in a Nissan Navara ute with a rooftop camp, similar to your setup.
I'm looking forward to more of this adventure, as I truly enjoy the red dirt and dust. Hope you keep warm, the desert can get mighty cold. Thanks again. Cheers

Must be amazing travelling the same road your Grandfather pioneered.
What always gets me is just how fast things change and progress. He blazed a trail with the most basic equipment and now we have very capable 4wd's, Starlink, drones, fridges, solar and whatever else we can jam in our vehicles.
    Really enjoying this series guys.

Your not wrong. I have the old water bag Len used to hang on the front of his Land Rover for cool water. Whilst we sometimes over complicate it none the less it’s some serious beautiful country

      @@Wanderingaus_adv Nice.
      Yeah it sure is.
I wasn't passing judgement merely thinking about things change so quickly and I'm a glamper rather than a camper anyway.
      Cheers.

None taken, we had the same thinkings our whole way along. We suppose it’s a different time but wonder what Len would of taken with him in this modern day.

@@Wanderingaus_adv Likely everything that he could fit in I would imagine.
Going hardcore is good for boasting about but I'd rather be comfortable and eating good food tbh.
Starlink looks like a good thing even if it's mainly as a backup communication device if something goes wrong.

Hey guys I have a question in relation to fuel how much did you use and what size fuel tank do you have and how many additional jerry cans did you take cheers

    • @Wanderingaus_adv
      @Wanderingaus_adv  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Of course!
We had a standard 80L tank in the Ranger plus 3x 20L Jerry cans.
      We averaged about 14.7L / 100kms

This video was more about your car, your camp, you, and your food. What about the track ?

Hey fair call. Feedback taken on board. We try and tell a story of the day/a captured but track is important to that. Thank you!
