Thank you for the video. Can you do a part 2 I feel like you have A Lot more tips than this after having 4 pursuits in a week
Tip #3 try not to die.
@@freefieldtraining Amen to that bro! My buddy teaches at the academy here & gives me tips didn't mention the tires yet I'll have to ask if he teaches that penny trick, thanks again for that! He's got 27yrs now & is always messing with his squad car at home so sure he does. I'm trying to join SWAT as a medic but dealing with a bad case of Crohn's disease but I'm pushing for it hopefully start paramedic training soon depending on Covid... I'm actually in the hospital now & they're down to 1 ward from the 5 they had so that's good. Enjoying the vids per usual though!
free field training reminds me of my buddy who says their are two types of LEOs.......the ones that start/get into pursuits and the ones that handle the tow sheets

Pursuit driving tips....
Lieutenant has entered the chat to terminate it.
Vehicle maintenance is so easy to ignore when cars are shared... I came to a car with a full cup of coffee in the cup holder one day. No cup, just coffee in the cup holder right to the top...
Ooo...sorry about that man. That might have been me.
I'm sorry, but this made me laugh out loud. The joys of pool cars...
@@freefieldtraining Bring a straw and suck it out - free coffee or you!
Thank God we have take home cars and don't share and have a shop that takes care of maintenance.
You are right. This is not covered in enough detail. Intersection negotiation is the most dangerous part of the pursuit.
Tire pressure and inspection is soooo important. Don’t trust your dealer, the tire shop, or whoever. They will get it wrong. Do it yourself. Assuming you are on stock size tires, the correct pressure will usually be listed in the driver’s door jamb.
*Pursuit training with a car seat 101* 🤣😂👍
Thanks for the 1 way tips. And the inside sidewall check. Never thought of that...
In Bloomington MN they're allowed to not only pursue, but to PIT relatively liberally. Reason being, both the MSP International airport and the Mall of America are located in Bloomington.
In my european police department we drive VW Transporter vans. Not a great pursuit vehicle but you can take speedbumps at 80 km/h while the regular car needs to slow down to at least 65 km/h. The suspention does get a serious beating though !
In the uk, we ram the motorcycles to make them stop.
In south africa they shoot out the tires from another motorcycle
Our agency pursuit policy:
1. Don't be in 1st place.
2. Don't tear up my dang cars.
3. Stop chasing when your radio quits working or you run out of gas.
huh boy... cops have so much shit to deal with, and now vehicle maintenance. you folks are so underappreciated.
Good tips for driving
Good advice.
Thanks
Thank you!
Any up and coming videos on using the tire stingers/ tire deflation tools.
Love your vids. Do one on stop sticks!
When you guys had the crown vics did the ball joints ever fail during shift?
Sell the polo, I want one! =D
So what happens to the people that flee in a vehicle, if you’re not allowed to chase them?
Whats the most challenging thing u deal with on a daily bases??
So what do you do if your suspect hits the speedbumps, goes airborne, and lands it good. Is it necessary to do the same so that you don't loose your suspect?
Try to get my coworkers about daily inspections because we have take home cars.
How much paperwork is there after a chase I remember you saying in a video for every thing you do there is a equal number of paperwork
For the primary there us an exceptional amount t of paperwork if there is a pursuit with subs in custody and tows. Way more if they crash in town.
Just want 2 say hi enjoy your videos !!!
Ever had to shoot out thru the windshield? If so besides bdc from angle any other tips (obviously glasses are good but..) seems I see it more & more.
Sir I have a question, I wanna become a police officer in america but live in south africa, I dont wanna be one here bcos i cant handle working with corrupt officers and a corrupt government
Depending how aggressive the camber set up is; this would aggravate inside edge tire wear
I chased a vehicle with a flat, didn’t know it was flat until it ended
Make sure you got that tactical child's seat when doing any pursuits
Wait so RED markers are NOT good?!😨 I thought stopping every 6' down that one street was ridiculous!🤔 DAMN IT! Explains why I'm always yelling at people for going the wrong way too.😵 Oops. GREAT VIDEO definitely don't see many dual reflection markers on older/side streets! Great tip on inner sidewalls & LOVE THE PENNY TRICK, TY! 👍 Is that why guys walking medians offer "CHANGE!"? 😂 THANKS BRO KEEP IT UP & STAY SAFE! MY 2 CENTS😁: Those aren't 'Soaps' on the roof seems their luggage racks! Trust me, MY CITY was PISSED EACH TIME I TRIED flipping & grinding curbs w my truck. Hey freaking skaters confused me they always cheered! And I thought I was finally one of the cool kid's😥
What the hell happened to jumping into a car--whatever its tires, etc. are like--, cranking it up to 70mph, flying through air, steering with one hand, shooting out the side window with the other?
Ah, the good ol' days, tell you what!
Lol number one tip. Don’t use the phrase “pursuit”. Just say following a vehicle, or else you will definitely be called off
LMAO And when you're ON the brakes, trying to get your speed down from 70, when you hit that speed bump... it is gonna HURT! You're gonna rattle a couple of fillings loose from your teeth. AND your Sgt. is gonna be pissed because of the damage you've done to your front wheels/suspension.
Thats for sure. Hell I took my truck off road once had to keep up speed hitting sugar sand & launched the next hill being more soil & hit my head on the roof, ouch!
Lmao no departments let officers chase anymore
Very wrong.
