- Do you reckon it's still worth having a dropper post after seeing this?

I run a dropper post for the sake of my future kids
Me who runs a hard tail
*I’m not having kids, not by choice*
Same
I bought a new trance x today and decided to test the suspension going full send off the front porch. Long story short I bottomed out and came within a millimeter of giving myself a homemade vasectomy. Still getting used to the idea of being able to drop the seat and when to do it
You don't need a dropper, you do need a lowered seatpost.
Dropper is proper.
Quick release is like a cozy fleece
@@kettlebelleddie5272 If your post can retract your nads remain intact
@@davidf2281 movement in the post is bad for most
Comfort is the main benefit from a dropper in my opinion. I do not ride to compete, just to enjoy :)
I rode for like 15 years without one and I can tell you: heck yeah you need one!
After the pedals, the dropper was my next upgrade. I do not ride for speed. I can't jump, I can't even do a wheelie. But I love riding and the comfort you get is on another level. Expensive though, but worth it. If anyone is going for speed and it has not felt the benefits of a dropper post... no words. But for everyone else - if you have trails with speedy or technical descends followed by some climbs (even short ones) a dropper will change your life and endurance. For me it's far more important than a nicer fork or something like that.
What kind of pedals did you get? I’ve got crank brothers flats and spds can’t decide which to use
We used to use quick release...
Yeah and it's shit compared to a dropper.
We also used to travel on steam trains......
@@71CMM The point is that people quickly rely on new tech and can't imagine a time when it didn't exist. The truth of the matter is dropper posts are a newish thing that we managed without for decades. Do they give you an advantage? Sure. Are they essential? Well, no. It's just (a lot) better with one.
I put it at a height where it’s not good for climbing or descending but it’s ok for both
As a shorter man, I'm 5'7 I say definitely get a dropper. It has helped my riding game soooo much..also easier to get on/off.🤣
I run a hardtail, my dropper really saves my ass.
fr, its great to have some cushion
Dropper is a must cause terrain here in az is always up down up down up down
POV: You just lower rour seat before descending. Pretty clever huh?
POV: you lose the race because to stopped to lower it
@@970SHARKO Which race? Of course if you are a pro or you race go for it! But I mean for a couple seconds... I can't really see the problem here. MTB is about to have fun.
@@iasha740 I haven't raced but I do black and double black parks and try to compete with others sorta like a time attack and I've lost those because of stopping and lowering/raising the seat but i have shaved seconds off of my time and won more races ever since i got a pnw dropper
Personally before I got a dropper I felt like it ruined the "flow" of the ride when I had to get of the bike
45 years on a mountain bike without one, I think I'm doing ok.
As someone who finally got on an MTB at 50, I highly recommend the PNW Coast for a hardtail.
Even just riding XC in FL it has reduced back pain from all the little bumps (roots mainly) to pretty much zero.
I don't have a dropper on my endouro/trail bike (cause I'm broke) so i just lower thr seat when i need to using the quick release, and have my seatpost marked so i can rais it back to the right hight
Yes...I really really need a dropper🙏🏽
If we’re going for comfort, then get a dropper if you don’t really care and you just want the best time and the cheapest build and don’t get in dropper
No, I don’t.
I have a dropper in the mail for my gravel bike right now!
Never really felt the need for one, where I ride it's either up or down 😅
Yes
In the last 30 days, I've been in 3, maybe 4, XC races. I haven't seen a single top 10 rider without a dropper. They're worth the extra weight and money
A dropper is perfect for any type of ride, from mtb to road
I just got a Trek Marlin 8 and gollee gee, I'm almost more interested in buying a dropper than I was excited for the bike 🥸
At its lowest is at level with the handlebars....still a fun ride but id like to be comfortable.
Weight distribution is terrible without dropper
When I ride my xc bike I still try to get air off of anything that can be boosted so I have a dropper on it. Jumping with a high seat is terrifying
Ow yes I need one. But not in my budget for now
Yes! I've not long gone to a bike with a dropper from never having one it's one of the best modern things ever 🤣 I'm more impressed with the dropper than the fancy suspension and breaks honestly lol. Simple minds 😂
Yes . Yes .yes
Naahhh i keep broke that stuff... And cause we usualy loadinv the bike from finish to start in bikepark for that reason i don't use it
If you cant afford just get a quick release
if you don't have a dropper, just drop your seat before starting your run lol it takes les than 30 seconds
As soon as I've heard the 10 second difference I knew that with my riding skill I don't need a dropper post. Thanks. 😂
YES
I don't use a dropper post because i have a rear that can get that seat upper
What about uphill?
Ill do 25 seconds with my xc lefty and dropper
I tell you the answer: Yes.
is not about about only going down.
But if you’re not racing, then maybe just slam the seat for those really tech sections?
Like the Miata, the dropper is always the answer
Well then, I might need to get a dropper post for my bike then! That feels it all! 😂
humongously quicker 😂
Well obviously you don't have the seat on full height going down a trail 💀
dropper post or not, you’re not going downhill with the seat all the way up
Just because the times are similar doesn’t mean anything.
I ride with suspension post. It's save my ass too! So?!
YES ..... LOL
What's a Dropper
What about no seat at all?
That would be super gnarly! 😂
Just finished a ride, no dropper. I hit my balls.
WILL CRASH YOU OUT ..... Takes so much away from proper Riding .
I’ve only ever seen new riders with droppers. Anyone who was biking before droppers doesn’t use them. Cause why would you? You can find a medium between two extremes. Don’t need to be fully up or fully down. People mountain bikes fine before without it
Total nonsense and one of the worst parts to catch on. This is for people who can’t do sketchy trails and need this useless heavy piece of trash for beginners that was co-opted into necessary not because pro’s pushed them but their sponsors sure did.
YOU ONLY RODE DOWN! obviously the dropper doesnt benefit!
another obvious comparission
Hey, Rich! When I switched to a dropper post, it was really LIFE CHANGING for me on my enduro bike. Ehem.... paging #Ghost Bikes....I'm using a 2013 AMR Plus 7500 bike. Needing your help on upgrading to the SLMR edition.😊
what is a dropper
A dropper is a seatpost that has a lever at the handlebars that will cause your seatpost to drop all the way down or shoot back up. Its meant to aid riders who are going from flat or uphill sections (seat up) to downhill sections (seat down) without having to stop the ride and manually adjust the seat height
@@TMAC53 how much will it cost
@@destroyer6652 It varies. They run from under $100 at the low end to $500 at the high end. Some posts also do not come with the lever so you may have to buy that separately. Also installation cost if you do not install it yourself.
thanks for the info bro
@@TMAC53
No, just another product for people to make money off of.
I definitely need one. I mean will my bike work without it? Yes. Do I still need it? Yes.
Do I really need your opinion?
Binned my dropper and never been happier - you just need to find that "goldilocks zone" and you're good to go.
Yes
