The Allett is speaking to you (in a whispered low voice), “…Matt your garden must be Herbaceous borders only, you know how I feel about my front box.” It’s really a little dictator but we love them all the same! Great video!

Well thanks to following your advice and buying stuff through your links everything has come together, the scarifying, treatments and over seeding and top dressing have produced a great lush green lawn. And to top it off I bought a nice Atco cylinder mower which yesterday painted some nice stripes on the lawns. Cheers Matt I couldn't have done it without you mate.

I’ve a cylindrical mower which is now ready for a ride in a wheelbarrow! While I’m fit for my age, 70 this year, I’m probably going for a rotary this time which is lighter to handle, but I like stripes!, plus rotary mowers are a lot cheaper! I like my lawns, front and back, so I’ve a treatment company come in 4/annum to apply various treatments.
Thanks for your videos, I’m now a subscriber.

I wanted a new cordless lawnmower with a roller as my current one doesn't have one. Watching your videos while you were using your bosch made my mind up for me until I saw the Allett liberty 35 but it was just a bit too pricey so I got the bosch and after watching this video I'm glad I did. All my reasons for concern about the allett and all the positives of the bosch are in the video. So thanks very much for helping me with my decision and by the way the bosch cuts great and gives some pretty decent stripes 👍

Hi there, I live in Perth, Western Australia and a year ago bought the Allett Liberty 43. Used a rotary mower for 50 years, but decided to make a change to a cylinder mower. Fantastic mower and it has made a big difference to my lawn, which the rotary mower didn’t do. The only thing I’m disappointed in is that we do not have a service agent in Perth. There is only one agent in Melbourne.

  • @johnb8956

I keep saying this at the moment, but it’s really pleasing to see cylinder mowers make a come back (both here and abroad). I don’t know anyone (personally) who uses them, I think everyone associates them with the old things they had to drag around as a kid, which definitely doesn’t help. The UK is a great place for it too, great growing condition mean even if you don’t do a great job of it, the lawn can still look great. In regards to moving them, they are a bit of a pain in the ****. I’d recommend moving it on the front roller, can’t really do any damage and it saves from the cringe of rolling the perfect cylinder over concrete 😂

Great video. Most of the time I’m in a hurry so use a Petrol rotary, but sometimes I get out an antique Qualcast Punch EP electric cylinder.
The cylinder handles the bumps better and is less likely to scalp at lower heights, but it takes at least twice as long.

Some good insights there. The transportation from storage could be an issue for some. I have recently purchased the smaller brother of the bosch 43li, namely the 37li when homebase where I live were selling them tool only for fifty quid! It's very similar as would be expected. Stripes the lawn up well on higher settings so overall very happy. But alas the cylinder bug has bitten and are now eyeing up the best of the British built push cylinder mowers from yesteryear.......... The ransomes ajax mk5 or ransomes certes!

The Allett would be to much hassle for me as it's petrol I just don't like them, the finish is second to none but is it really worth it they cost a small fortune too, mine is just the basic flymo 300 so no stripes but gives a nice looking green lawn with a good finish I keep the blades sharp and have a spare swapping them every half a dozen cuts, I don't put all those chemicals or feeds on it either I just water it regular aerate it and scarify it I do keep some grass seed at home as I have a dog and her urine kills the lawn I must be doing something right as I have had several comments from people about how good my lawn looks and asking me to do there's, I initially have premier lawns to thank for that and several others like yourself for giving tips on you tube of what to do and when, for the average joe like myself a basic mower is good enough for the lawn care Pro,s who landscape for a living I fully understand the Allett is probably a must.

The cyclinder mower gives a far better finish but then its far more expensive and so is the maintenance, including blade sharpening and engine servicing, maybe when doing the comparison, running costs could have been included. I have the corded version of the Bosch and the Windsor cylinder mower which I love but my lawn isn't really big enough for the cylinder so it hardly gets used, which is a waste
