- Here is a very cool pneumatic collet fixture I found in a surplus tool bin. It takes Brown & Sharpe 21 Screw Machine collets.

BTW - yes, me again, that pneumatic (which means air operated, just so you know) collet is awesome. For some reason my first thought was 'how can I use that for a power draw bar?'
no doubt because a power drawbar is a current project. Anyways, very neat! Cheers Arty Hero, Michael 🇦🇺
time laps of people moving their machines is always a good time... lol
It's on the books my friend! I'll be clearing out my shop in a couple of weeks and putting my machines in storage at a friend's place, then moving them into their new home October 1. I only have to do that because my old and new houses are closing the same day, so I don't have a choice on that.
Years ago I saw one of those mounted to a rotary table and used to machine a hex on custom shoulder bolts.
Nice. I smell a follow-up video coming. Oh wait no...my rotary table weighs too much and I never want to lift it again.
For the hobby shop maybe not really indispensable, but in production it's a cool thing to have. Thanks for showing.
Great fixture,,,thanks for sharing
Nice!!
And an other type of collet.Thank you.
Oh, but there are so many others. You haven't even seen my 2J collets!
@@StuartdeHaro Yes,This will make a nice video.Thank you.
@@angelramos-2005 That will have to wait. They're already packed up.
Cool action, Y have never seen that type. Could come in really handy in the right situation, cheers.
Hi Staurt - I have an assortment of those collets and a chuck that came with my South Bend 10K lathe lathe I bought several years ago. Some of the collets are made by Hardinge.
You can't just tease a tool nerd like me by telling me you have a cool and unique chuck. You have to send a picture or two. What's the mechanism for closing it? A nut? Lever? (Gasp, could it be...) A cam?
@@StuartdeHaro I'll send you pics. Which address?

G'day Stew Arty Hero, hmm, has to be right! Can't think of another way to say that...
Mate, I just fell across your videos this afternoon. Unhurt thankfully. I really like what I'm seeing, only viewed about six or so thus far. Anyways, you said to ask if there is something I would like covered, and there is! I don't know how you knew to ask ME that question, and not your other viewers, but I appreciate being singled out!
Ok ok...the question...my 2HP mill has a 3MT. I'm thinking id like to change to BT40. How do I do that? Cheers mate, Michael 🇦🇺
That looks like it must have been crazy expensive when new. I bet the collets aren't cheap either.
I'm sure it wasn't cheap. I think I paid $60 for it out of the bin.
Really seems like an interesting component, it's a shame it's not a more typical taper. If it was 5c, I can think of three or four different ways it would be useful in a home shop though obviously it's real home is in a production line.
Hello, what is the name of the wholesale store in the Detroit area you mentioned? id love to go and check it out!
It's called Wholesale Tool Company and it's in Warren, MI. Their website is www.wttool.com for the complete address.
Do you need any collets for that? I buy a lot of lots online, I don't own any brown and sharp tapers machines, but I have three or four of those collets, I had actually thought they were some quick connect system like Jahrl, they've just been bouncing around in the drawer, no use to me whatsoever
Sure, I'll definitely take them off your hands. Send me an email to the address shown in the video (my channel name with no spaces @gmail.com) and we'll hammer out the details.
What up, with everyone moving lol..
It's that time of year.
@@StuartdeHaro lol.. seen you got a new place to play and live, right?
@@life.is.to.short1414 yup. It's going to be great.
