Reliving The War takes a look at the "Monday Night War" era of professional wrestling with weekly episodes every Thursday. Every episode of WCW Nitro and WWF Raw will get covered with every match, promo and moment highlighted. Fans had a choice, they could watch WCW Nitro on TNT or WWF Raw is War on the USA Network, this series will see which company had the better show every single week.
On Nitro this week Curt Hennig has a gift for Master P and the No Limit Soldiers. Eddie Guerrero returns to in ring action versus Juventud Guerrera, Booker T faces Chris Kanyon in a 1 on 1 match, and a big main event gets booked when Sid Vicious faces Sting.
The WWF are gearing up for the King of The Ring PPV this Sunday. Matches include The Rock vs Edge, Steve Austin vs Big Boss Man, and the Corporate Ministry continue to crumble when Triple H gets himself a WWF Championship match against The Undertaker (thanks to Commissioner Shawn Michaels).

I dont make note of people I dont' knows date of death. Like, its odd. I dont know Scott, never did, never will. He was just an actor I liked on TV at one time. Therefore I dont need to know what day he died, or keep commemorating the date. I think it's not mentally healthy to be that obsessed with parasocial relationships and fandom.

The Steve Blackman segments are always gold. Honestly, I'd love a series like this that presents actual wrestling shows but with the whole thing having entirely new "lore," sort of like the Kung Pow of pro wrestling.

Master p fan here. I was burned out no limit at this point. Over exposed. I changed the channel when this came on.
I was a huge fan of No Limit but by that time I was tired of Master P. Maybe a year earlier I would have been more into it but I believe by this time in the timeline Ruff Ryders was more of a buzz, maybe even Murder Inc, but not sure either could have worked.

By 1999 cash money had taken all of No limits wave and swag they took over 99 no limit was fading imo.

I forgot that Edge & The Rock actually had a singles match against each other. Surprised it never happened more often, I think it could have been possible had Rock been around in the mid 2000's when Edge was on his way to becoming a main eventer back in 2005/2006.

October 11, 1999. RAW in the Georgia Dome. I was there. 14 year old me was beyond thrilled.
Master P was cool but by this point he was "retiring" and was kinda losing steam. Ruff Ryders, Murder Inc and Cash Money had been gaining ground and radio play in their place, but I don't think they could have done it. I'll give it to Master P and WCW, they tried it and maybe a year earlier it could have worked.

was he wrong? this is the era with the highest ratings of monday night raw of all time.
I was there in the nosebleed seats for this. It was the only Live Monday Night Raw I was ever at, and the only time I ever saw The Undertaker in person (from a long distance away, but still..). After it went off the air, The Rock mentioned how "This is Memphis" and he sang a rendition of his Smackdown Hotel song. Paul Bearer stayed in character and acted like his ears were bleeding. The drunk guy behind me who spilled his beer on me earlier when The Stone Cold Stunner happened, made an off-color comment about Owen when the audience was wondering if Paul was going to be lifted up or not. They didn't lift him into the air, though. The Rock posed for a little bit and then left while a Referee untied Paul.

It's been an amazing experience to relive all these old episodes. Last couple of episodes have been amazing, but something has been missing. Today we get back on the track with the return of Mufuggin' Steve Blackman (who will F you up).
Real talk though, I was always a big fan of Blackman as a youngster, and seeing him get massively over again in 2024 through RTW has been a joy.

I'd guess in regards to Ernest Miller shoe situation is that its a outdoor dress shoe so had wooden bottoms in comparison to ring bottoms which are rubber or trainers which are also erm....rubber lol

So you wanna know the lore of Ernest Miller's shoe? Its a rather deep dive but I will simplify it as we would be here all week.
The shoe might look like a regular show but thats not the case, it was given to Ernest for mastering karate by his old sensei when he completed his training in mastering the four main styles of karate are Goju-ryu, Shotokan, Wado-ryu and Shito-ryu. There are also many less prominent styles, including Chito-ryu, Isshin-ryu, Kyokushin, Shorin-ryu and Uechi-Ryu, which Ernest mastered the ability to fight in all of these forms but in 2001 he will be entered into The Millienia Grand Masters Championship Tournament. He has 2 years left to train but his Sensei gave him those shoes to help him learn how quick, strong and fierce he will have to be in the tournament to claim his throne of Karate Grand Master. The shoes are enchanted from The Gods to helo the wearer become one with their body, spirit and mind which he will need at the minimum to stand a chance
