    Great video! Very informative. Personal preference is key when making a decision. I grew up with an Ithaca 37, with the safety on the rear of the trigger guard. Because of all those years shooting a rear safety, a front safety, would cause me great pause, perhaps even a deal breaker, when considering a new shotgun. (I’m glad you said you couldn’t go wrong with any of these great guns!)

    I have SBE2 and use it for everything. Had Sbe3, still had benelli click and it shot 18" high and 6" left so I sold that. Had a Beretta A400 unico ? The model before the plus that kept stove piping shells and hated the safety so I sold that. Waiting to See if Benelli comes out with SBE 4 with raised rib and better bolt engaging to really eliminate Benelli click.

    Since posting previously about a comparison 'Taste Test' between the A400, and the Maxus II, I purchased a Browning Maxus II and had friends and family come to the Banks of the Snake river and put the Raven clay launcher to work for the test.
    I must say I was both surprised and pleased at the result.
    I am VERY biased toward the A400, and it probably colored my final opinion, so the best I can do is say it was a draw. Though my conscience may trouble my sleep about the recoil aspect, I feel confident my familiarity with the A400 caused me to overlook any difference I found. And anyway...no recoil is NO recoil
    Friends and family were not so effected.
    The Maxus II scored better with all of them on fit, feel, weight, and just an eyelash worth on the recoil.
    They all scored more hits with the Maxus, but only just!
    I can say this quite honestly...A400 or Maxus Wicked Wing II. Both have earned a place in the blind.
    There's a new team on the block.

  • @theganymedehypothesis4057

    I've seen guys going nuts trying to shoot skeets and sporting clays with Benelli guns using target shells. The Beretta gun handles Walmart target shells easily and that means you can practice with it. Big advantage.

    I have the A400 Beretta, sold a SBE2 to get it.
    Comparisons...no comparisons at all. After shooting the Beretta I wanted to throw rocks at the SBE2.
    Most guys will eventually get older and have arthritis in hands or shoulders, especially in the cold weather. The Beretta will give you 6-10 years of shooting comfort beyond the beating you will start to get with a Benelli. Why not start off with the softer shooter to begin with?
    I had a Winchester SX3 I passed on to the son so he'd have a quality gun as well, and hands down it is the most enjoyable gun I've shot after the A400 Beretta.
    I am looking forward to shooting the gas operated Browning 'Wicked Wing' Maxus 2.
    Looks like a nice gun, but it will have big shoes to fill before it can compete with the A400 Beretta.

    • @matthewmoore4860
      @matthewmoore4860 Před 2 lety +1

      I would strongly recommend it. I had a wicked wing browning maxus take a big dump in the field, wouldn't fire. After that I sold all 4 brownings I owned and replaced the maxus with a franchi affinity 3.5. I wouldn't own a browning now, overpriced junk. Franchi has better trigger, better price, inertia driven, less moving parts to tear up. You mite need to shim the franchi for it to shoot point of aim but other than that it's solid dead in hand.

    • @coltonb5091
      @coltonb5091 Před 3 lety +1

      You can shoot a slug through any smooth bore shotgun, ive actually heard a lot about smooth barrels shooting slugs pretty good. Personally I wouldn't shoot slugs through my xtreme plus, but I don't know that it would hurt the gun any. Just don't run slugs through anything other than cylinder choke. You can even buy rifled chokes to put on your shotgun, but getting any gun to shoot well is a matter of finding a shell that shoots well through your gun via patterning. I say go to a store, find a gun that's most comfortable for you to shoulder and operate in your price range, that's your shotgun

  • @MH-gy6qv
    @MH-gy6qv Před 3 lety +1

    The beretta safety location is the biggest reason I don't like their autoloaders. People try to sell it same as you described, that it's less finger movement. Click it off and slide your finger down the guard and over the trigger. But that actually takes longer to get your finger on the trigger than a safety mounted on the guard behind the trigger. If you press the safety off with the meat of your finger, behind the first joint, you can click the safety off as you wrap your finger around the trigger in one single motion. As I shoulder the shotgun and place my finger on the trigger, the safety falls and I'm ready to shoot.

    Which one does the best job cycling light loads?

    • @jamesrossetti6284
      @jamesrossetti6284 Před 3 lety +1

      I think gas guns are traditionally better regarding light loads. I have the Beretta 1301 tactical and A400 Excel Trap and both have the blink system and I shoot Winchester white box #8 (1200 FPS) out of both of them and have Never had a problem cycling these rounds or any round out, since I mostly shoot #OO/4 buckshot and slugs out of the Tac. Also, even though they are gas guns, you don't have to really clean them regularly. I have shot thousands of rounds out of the A400 and have taken it apart to clean the gas system maybe twice and really didn't need to then. I just put a bore snake through it and spray lubricate and wipe it down when I am done at the trap range where I usually 100-200 shells.

    • @cadeclark
      @cadeclark Před 3 lety

      If you were also wanting to go for something like a Stoeger that’s inertia driven, make sure to put at least 50 rounds of heavy load through it to break the coils in and after that just make sure to oil your coils and it should cycle lighter loads perfectly fine. But if not then a gas system is definitely gonna get you those better cycles and not gonna choke up on you. The Beretta A300 Outlander is personally my favorite gas shotgun if you wanted to also keep and eye out for that

    Heres some facts on Shotguns......very few point of aim is indeed point of impact at 25 yards.....If you are going to the moon and you want a reliable shotgun then take the worlds most reliable shotgun, the Remington 870 Wingmaster........if you want the most reliable auto loader then shoot the Winchester SX3.........these two will shoot and load case after case after case.....clean or dirty, cold or hot...........been shooting for 60 years, shot almost all of them and what I have not shot my friends have owned and shot.... true story
