  • Here's a patch I made last night on my Arturia Polybrute, which is definitely the most special synth I have ever owned. The stereo field is beautiful and it can just sound so amazingly alive.
    This patch makes use of some of my favourite features: the polyphonic LFOs, automated panning, noise to VCF2 and the epic delayed plate reverb.

    This patch is absolutely stunning, so much so that I keep coming back to this video. There's so much going on in terms of modulation, and the "fluttering" of the voices is extremely cool. Inspires me to open up Pigments and mess around in an attempt to learn from this... Excellent work, mate!

      Thank you very much! Apart from the sound, one of the things I love about the Polybrute, is its modulation matrix. It's just so easy and hands on to experiment with modulating just about everything :-)

      @@Winterdagen Haha, yeah... took 15 minutes of experimenting in Pigments before I ended up adding modulation sidechains to modulate modulation amounts... :D It's great to see a hardware synth with these many capabilities still featuring an easy interface! Really seems like it's worth the money!

      @@ayisa001 Te gek! Ik heb uiteraard ook flink overwogen of Polybrute het werd voor mij. De eerste avond dat ik er mee aan de slag ging stonden de tranen in m'n ogen van hoe geweldig hij klinkt.

      @@Winterdagen Ja, precies... Ik heb er hier al een aantal staan, dus altijd de twijfel, koop ik geen synth's "dubbel". Ik heb ooit de MiniBrute gehad, die vond ik ook serieus indrukwekkend klinken, maar past op dat moment niet in mijn setup.. Thx for de video!! Heb je nu ook gevonden op spotify, klinkt ook goed.

      @@ayisa001 Helemaal mee eens hoor, goed om bij een nieuwe synth altijd na te gaan of je qua sound of workflow echt iets toevoegt dat je nog niet hebt. Ik heb ook nog een micobrute staan van vroeger, nog steeds een heel leuk syntje. Maar Polybrute is echt een héél grote stap omhoog :-)

      why did you get a PB then? If you just need Sounds get the Arturia V8 Collection + Pigments and have Fun for the rest of your Life. The PB CRIES for Sound Design and Modding. Over 2K just to buy Patch Banks? Dude 🙄

      @Winterdagen  Před 3 lety +3

      @@errorkit To each their own :) I would argue that the PB still has its very own distinctive sound, even when just played with presets. But yeah, the PB absolutely just begs to have sounds created on it!

    Wonderful job! This sounds beautiful! Did you add any external effects?
    Can you advise how difficult the learning curve is on this synth? I would say my experience is slightly under intermediate level. Trying to decide between this and the Prophet 10. I realize they are completely different beasts; loving the more modern sounds of the PB as well as having a sequencer/arpeggiator. The P10 would be a much lesser learning curve I would guess, Thank you!

    • @Winterdagen
      @Winterdagen  Před 2 lety +5

      Thanks a lot! This is all the Polybrute, no external effects :).
      Hmm I really think you can make sounds as complicated as you like on the Polybrute. It's a completely different beast than the Prophet 10 indeed. Polybrute has so many modulation possibilities and having two different filters adds to that as well. Prophet 10 is more of a straight forward simple subtractive synth, with a very beautiful sound nonetheless. I think that when you have some experience with synthesis, the learning curve on the Polybrute should be fine.
      I do remember when I bought a Prophet 08 some years ago, I was really intimidated by all the possibilities it offered. I really had no clue what to do with four LFOs and 3 envelopes. Even though the synth sounded amazing, using it to its full capacity was just out of my league. I guess what I'm trying to say is, that's totally fine. But it might be wise to practice synthesis on a simple synth such as Micro- or Minibrute or Bass Station II, or even a Minilogue or something. Working with those synths a lot has really helped me develop my sound design abilities. And I still love to work with them as well, next to my more complicated synths.

    • @Winterdagen

      It sure is :) The Delayed Pate preset. A little bit of damping can help get rid of the bright frequencies. For a built in reverb I actually think it's really nice!
