  • There is so much to be said about Christmas, and not all in the most positive tone; how it is promoting unsustainable consumerism and urging parents to lie to their children, having deep roots in a pagan ritual called Saturnalia etc etc.
While we are on the pagan track, we could also remind ourselves that the three days of darkness between winter solstice and Christmas Eve/Day is more likely what inspired the “death” and ultimate resurrection of the lord saviour mishmashed into the bible during the easter celebrations (more on that in an upcoming video)
As it is the holiday season, we should focus on the families getting together and having a great time, forgetting about the millions of people who are forced to spend Christmas alone (as some other families get together)
We should also remember to enjoy the opulent amounts of food and drink and not at all focus on the people who go hungry and looking past the staggering amounts of families where Christmas celebrations lead to heightened domestic abuse cases, etc. etc.
When we are done with Christmas, we all surely remember to play with our new toys throughout the year, and recycle all the gift wrapping paper and packages appropriately, right?
BUT, as we are promoting positivity, including during the beast we have created, we now call Christmas, we will just keep on wishing you all a really Merry Christmas (or whatever version of that you are celebrating) remember to take good care of yourself and your loved ones.
We really mean that, hoping that our sarcastic undertones, or “piilovittuilu” inspire you to help out the less fortunate, in any way you can.
Our team behind these videos has donated to the Helsinki Mission, which is a transparent organisation helping people in need as directly as possible. We urge you to find a cause and to donate your time and money to one of your choice.
One more video coming up this year, before we greet in 2020 with open arms…

One of my Finnish friends, when I met him, it was his 2nd week at the company we work at. He was in the US for our annual company retreat and people bring their families to this weekend event as time to spend with family as well with colleagues for fun. That evening at the retreat, he shows up in full Joulupukki gear and in full Rallienglati asks "Are there any good boys and girls here?" to the present.

@@timomastosalo the kids loved him, he was Santa after all, and he had gifts for them, that the company provided.

@@shura0107 I'd like to see a video, if one is available. Kids's joy is so contagious and their wonder is such a amazement to witness - they like go to this fairy tale land as fast as their jaw drops :)

@@timomastosalo maybe? It was 7 years ago. We might have had some of our videographers on hand. I know we don't have that uploaded on CZcams.
