This actually sounds like a really fun method of working on character designs! Trying to figure out what parts of the design are actually recognizable and the silhouettes/colors/features people will remember in the long run after seeing it. Obviously, there are exceptions considering how lost in translation some things got, but the first couple rounds are a good judge of what can be remembered from person to person and what design elements really shine through/are memorable on the character.
The only thing that stayed true was the color green.

I love my gays, but I legit want the original character and the end result to be sisters who do get along great despite the older one being extroverted and the younger one just be chillin in parks and doing her own thing but will absolutely murder for each other. Love the colors and fairy ring concept, especially in the sheer, puffy mushroom shaped dress. If you're looking for ways to incorporate the mushroom-ring concept a bit more (if you're open to suggestions) maybe have the hair drills resemble more of a mushroom shape? Like, maybe segment it into two parts to have a small stem and the mushroom cap. Also, maybe go for a rounder shape on the cape , or even try to go for a fairy wing look to call back to the fairy ring lore.

My Prism Headcannon for Mugi to the final: this two are half sisters and yet have a similar theme, the original Mugi having a mushroom/dancer theme and final Mugi having floral/singer theme. They may be side characters but I’d imagine that their arc about being a team with then original Mugi having an inferiority complex compared the final due them having more colors, thus more stronger than her in terms of power. Oh yeah and their prism would take the shape of a chibi lettuce and and mushroom. That’s my take on this Art telephone.

I actually like the concept of the childhood game telephone being an art challenge. Watching how the original design of a sketch could end up in very possible different ways. Each artists interpretation being its own unique take on the drawing.

This seems like a great way to distill a character design down to what's memorable and important while also making it fun!
OOOh I think a conceptual video of this may be really fun too! like, telling your friends "this magical girl has a fairy ring theme and her weapon is a colonial hop" and then everyone designs something different! It's also a good way of brain storming I think
The fun part is seeing how much the design changes
Its almost a whole cast of magial forest themed girls by themselves
I like how about a third of the way in we had the inverse of the corporate whitewashing "character gets one shade lighter with every iteration" and had her get a shade or two darker for like 4 drawings in a row. Really loved the ears + hair tail thing that went on for a while!

I feel like if you have a habit of overcomplicating your designs this might be really good way to see what the concept could look like if drawn with less attention to detail, since usually people would only remember the most prominent aspects of a character design if they have to draw them without reference ^^
