  • This stuff isn't exactly cheap, but man does it look good!
    In this video we're checking out Corsair's Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5 Memory. The kit I have here is 64GB (2x 32GB) DDR5 running at 6400MHz with 32-40-40-84 timings. I'll show you what comes in the box, how to get it installed and configured with XMP in the BIOS, and all the features that are available in the iCUE software app. This is a solid option for high-end system builders looking for fast ram that looks awesome.

    Nice! I've always used Corsair RAM and next time I'll buy some RGB ones....I just bought 2x16gb of Corsair Vengeance Black 6000MHz DDR5 with timings of 36-38-38-76 for my new build. Been building my own computers since the late 80's

    To get the motherboard recognised by iCue, did you have to install Aura or is there a way to do it without installing anything extra?

      dont u get blue screen? Bcs i wanted to get 4 sticks of those 6000mt/s as well, but some ppl told me its pointless cus the ddr5 platform is still not optimized for 4 sticks of ram and ur system crash easily

      On some recent motherboards like the Z790, there are difficulties using XMP when you have four memory modules installed. It works fine with two, but with four it can cause errors and very long boot times. This seems to be a common problem with the new DDR5 memories

      i have this problem too with same ram and motherboard, talked to warranty and they said all of that ram has problems and need to change, so i sent it for them and got my money back! they also said go and buy dominator or in vengeance get low bus like 5200! so if you have warranty just dont ruin your pc and send ram to them.

      I haven't tried a MSI MEG series board yet, but so far MPG and MAG have been good for me. I currently have 4 PCs, two are running Asus boards and two MSI. Both have been solid, but I've had audio issues on both Asus boards whereas the MSI's have been flawless.

    I have 64 gbs, and I just got a second set of matching 64.
    And then I watched a couple videos and people say that it's way too much overkill and can actually hurt performance?
    Can anybody back that up, I'm thinking about returning the second set of 64 before I open the package?

    • @DuckDuckDad
      @DuckDuckDad Před 6 měsíci

      What are you doing that would require anywhere near 128GB, or even 64GB RAM? With all due respect, if you don't know if it's overkill, it very likely is. Someone who actually has a use case requiring that much RAM typically knows exactly why they need it. The best RAM performance generally comes from a single pair of matched sticks, in the lowest capacity that meets your system's needs. 8GB and 16GB sticks often have offerings with lower latency, tighter timings, and higher MT/s than their 32 or 64GB counterparts. For many people, 16GB is enough RAM and is the sweet spot. Running 2x8GB in a dual channel configuration (usually slots 1 and 3, or 2 and 4 on the mobo) will perform better than a single 16GB stick. The need for anything more than 32GB is rare for a home PC, and the same concept applies- 2x16 in dual channel. Again, If you don't know why you need more than average RAM, you probably don't. Buying more ram than you need is just wasting your money and often comes with an added cost in performance. You're better off buying higher quality RAM in the capacity you actually need than you are buying as much extra capacity as you can afford.

    Be warned Vegeance has no RGB Vegeance Pro does
    Corsair PSU's use several different cable types, not the same even in the same Model Line. For example, HX1200 Platinum uses Type 4 cables; HX1200 Gold uses Type 3... and they are not comptabile with each other. If you buy a Premium Pro Cable Kit (Type 4) very important to know.
    If you want to blow off all the insane markup Corsair adds just by adding LEDs,a nd make it vastly easier for you to install than wiring a rats nest of fan cables... buy a $5 RGB gamer mouse. Plug it in, you're done. Cost you $5 to add RGB to your system, and you got a free mouse that is easy to find in the dark.
