    Something not many comparisons take into consideration is Tile can be added to your Alexa skills. This also allows the network to be drastically expanded as the Echo sidewalk function now identifies Tile product location. So now if your Tile is near an Alexa device it will identify it. Plus it is pretty cool in the home, ask Alexa where your keys are and it can tell you which device they are near as well as ring the Tile.

      I've been trying to use mine through Google voice assistant and there's been some bugs. For instance I just now tried it again
      1.)Hey Google ring my keys..... sure but first I'm gonna need you to unlock your device...... I wasn't able to locate keys.... i've been trying again with the device already unlocked and same thing... i've tried it with my keys and my wallet just now while laying down in my room.... about 60 seconds later the wallet rang once... i'm telling you people are comparing features for which one they want to buy but they need to worry about reliability.In the terms of volume I had to turn down to normal the loudest for tile was too loud for my needs

I’m an android user and i’m sure I’ll be the one to help set it up for them.. I know a few people that have Airtag and love it.

    I’ve lost my keys twice in two years and both times Tile failed miserably. Both times it waited till I was miles away before alerting me that it was left behind. Then tracking was useless and I kept getting battery needs to be replaced. Even when batteries were only about 3 months old. AirTags are quicker to let me know I’ve left them and tracking is spot on. Only downside is if your an Android user and can’t use them. But I definitely can’t recommend Tile in any way

      I've had similar issues in the month and a half I've owned my tiles. What I did was complained about my problems with the two tiles I have been using out of the four tile box, they sent me replacements and I'm taking the four pack back to Costco and getting my money back...So I will use these two free ones but the expectations are at least tampered down since I didn't have to pay for them. On the plus side tiles customer service has taken care of it when I say I've had issues... this technology shouldn't have this many problems-If some of you aren't that urgently in need, i'm sure a company will step up their quality in this field soon.

    Love your channels, Eric, especially MDT. Just wanted to add something to see what you think. In the case of long range for smart watches and earbuds, I could see the further away the better. But for item trackers, wouldn’t it be better to have a shorter range. Especially for left behind alerts. I mean, I’d prefer to be notified that I left it behind while it still relatively close. Same goes for trying to locate a lost item. I wouldn’t want to “find it” while I’m still 400’ away. Then it becomes a needle in a haystack, especially in a densely populated or commercial area. I wouldn’t necessarily consider being 400’ away, “found.” Thoughts?

    • @ModernDayTech
      @ModernDayTech Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks, Jonathan! I totally understand. It would be awesome if you could adjust the left behind alert distance. Everybody has a different situation though. I live on a 1/2 acre lot and I would not want my notification to go off if I'm in my yard, or even if I'm at a direct neighbors house. It would get annoying. But I would want it to go off if I leave the neighborhood. On the other hand, if I was a restaurant, I would want it to go off before I leave the parking lot if I left my wallet behind. Unfortunately, distance (geo, not Bluetooth distance) is only one of the factors in the algorithm that creates that notification. Until a couple years ago, the notification was created based on the connection between your phone and your tracker. So this created the notification much sooner, but with this type of setup, we got a lot of false notifications, so a lot of companies had quiet zones (geolocation, wifi, time based, etc.) Obviously, this helped with the false alarms but it also created other issues. A couple years, Chipolo mastered their out-of-range notification (in my opinion) and didn't need quiet zones or other settings to perfect their notification. It does exactly the things I want as I mentioned above. (Plus they don't charge for it). Tile on the other hand, charges for the feature, and their notification was miles away until I got a notification (if I got one). Recently though, Tile got better along with AirTag now that has left behind alerts so all three have pretty good notifications but unfortunately it's not perfect for everybody cause everybody wants something different.
      On the "Find it" side, you want the max range with a loud ringer. Thais way you can listen for it and find it faster. The Airtag has UWB but that is slower than finding it with sound plus the bluetooth/UWB range of the Airtag is much much lower than the Chipolo or Tile so you have to be closer to know that you are close to finding it.

      @@ModernDayTech great reply. Appreciate your thoughts on this subject and looking forward to your next video. I do agree the AirTag is way too quiet for it to be functional and it’s mind boggling that Apple hasn’t added family sharing yet. A lot of families only have one car and need to share the keys.

    My tiles have gone off saying they are at grocery stores I was at the day before... they commonly can't be found when they're only a few feet from me...Usually I'll try it a few times and it'll eventually kick in to gear at least. I bought a four pack and have only opened up two of them in both of them have had the same issues... at least I contacted customer service and they sent a replacement(which I'm sure will have the same issues),But at least this way I can return it to Costco and get the money back lol and use the two free ones.🤪

    Hi! Thanks for making this comparison! Is it true that if your item is stolen, then an AirTag will alert the thief that they are being tracked with an AirTag? And logically, the thief would then find the AirTag and dispose of it so they won't be tracked anymore?

      @@TrackThisNThat You're welcome! I see the difference now for using bluetooth trackers for lost items and not stolen items.
      Coincidently, I recently activated more Tiles (since I've had an extra pack laying around) and there's a new 'Anti-Theft' feature. You have to submit a picture of your driver's license and take a picture to prove you're the person on the license. I think this may be an elegant solution for stolen items (and not stalking) if you're comfortable with trusting Tile with your info!

    • @TrackThisNThat
      @TrackThisNThat  Před rokem

      @@BonaFideWildLife This is cool and all, but unless you can hide your tracker really well (without blocking/reducing the signal) and hope your thief is dumb enough to keep the tile app on their phone, then it won't increase your chances. Plus there are apps that will find any Bluetooth signal and this blocker only works for some (Tile even says "certain" 3rd party, not "all" scanners) Also, If you do have some luck and get the location, what will you do then? Do you think the police will really help you based on an app based on its last connection, not its current connection? Are you going to approach a potentially dangerous thief? They are great and all but buying them for stolen items is the wrong mindset and I can't recommend that.

    Sound volume and bluetooth range is very important regardless of the large community. Lot of airtag fans will continue to bring up the large community and I get it but majority of the time, people will lose it in short range like their house, large yard, large store, etc. so that sound volume and long bluetooth range is so important. An AirTag with a 30 foot bluetooth range is poor to me. If you lose an AirTag at a field in a park and it isn't busy, you are in trouble. Camping with little amount of people around and lose your keys? Running alone in the morning and your keys fall out? Versatility and multiple devices with a tracker? Versatility of the tile to work with with my Samsung, Motorola and Apple is an important PRO but also that I can use multiple phones for 1 tile pro tracker. I can put my Samsung, Motorola and iPhone with that 1 tile tracker. Not everybody uses just one phone and if they use 2 different phones, they don't want to put 2 trackers on their 1 keychain. Another expense. Don't even get me started with the AirTag missing a ring the phone button. Come on!.... I actually use my Samsung and Motorola phones more than my iPhones so spending double ($30+$10 accessory holder= $40) seems too expensive especially when protecting my bike is a big concern (airtag giving beeps/notifications to thieves!). Knowing me I will probably still buy an AirTag only if it is on sale but I see some obvious cons that many AirTag fans glance over.

      I dont think ppl gloss over it. It's just not a very significant issue lol the average person isn't camping very often PLUS losing their keys while they're at it. for the average person that uses iphone, airtag is the EASY best choice. For those that use android, they should just use Tile lol

    • @Bflo23
      @Bflo23 Před rokem

      @@JamesJDMoe I have a 2 Tiles, a Samsung SmartTag and an Apple AirTag. I think the Samsung SmartTag is the best of the bunch. I even ran a little side by side by side experiment and Samsung won overall. Tile has the cleanest user interface to me but less people use it so notifications for lost item would most likely take longer. Apple airtag cases that can be hidden on a bike are pretty cool like in a bike reflector or even a bike stem is available.

    My thinking is having a three-year battery is much better than having to replace them more than once a year. Apple Airtag will go through up to five batteries over three years; batteries ending in landfills. Also, the Tile products are 100% recyclable, send them back to Tile purchase a new Tile; better than sending batteries or devices to a landfill.
    Apple Airtag is a one trick pony. iPhone can ring the Airtag, but the Airtag cannot ring the iPhone. Misplace your iPhone you may be in panic until you hunt and find it. With Tile the phone can ring the Tile and the Tile can ring the phone. Airtag is for Apple only, Tile is both for iOS and Android thus platform agnostic.
    Also, as you mentioned, Tile users do not need to purchase a fob for connecting Tile on something. Tile vs Airtag, the Tile wins. Airtag does not make much sense they are too limited, cost more and you most likely will have increased cost for a fob.
