Music has a way of bridging all language and cultural barriers. Music communicates were words often fail. Traveling across the globe, two Basque musicians - Igor and Harkaitz - use their musical talents to create a dialog between people and cultures. Their instrument, the Txalaparta, is a traditional Basque instrument that must be played by two people. The music that arises from this instrumental encounter does not belong to either of them. Instead, the sounds that emerge become their conversation with those whom they encounter on their journey.
They travel in search of what is real, the sounds of daily life and direct encounter. Whether it is riding a horse in Mongolia, a train from Bombay, crossing the dessert in Algeria, or skiing in the Arctic pole, the musicians and their instrument travel to some of the worlds most amazing places. As their musical dialogue develops, the voice of the people begins surface-.. The Txalaparta becomes more than a musical instrument- it becomes a communication tool in which everyone expresses their own desire a Hindu taxi drivers wish for a decent home;, a Mongolians desire to sing in his ancestors´ language; an elderly lady from the Sahara who wishes to continuing living as a nomad, return to mother land, or just being ones self.
In an ever-changing world, Nömadak Tx stands out, as a project for people who refuse to lose their voice. This film shows us that even when we encounter diversity, something wonderous often emerges. Above all, it displays the courage and the power of the desires in each one of us, no matter how different and remote they can be. The struggle in creating something beautiful, useful and good, gives meaning to the life of the main characters of Nömadak Tx.
