My guess is that DJ will plant JD in a place where he can be blamed for Trumps failures and then be ousted. Trump still has a resentment for Pence having a controlling power in 2020 and he needs the world to see that he can oversee that power going forward.

Apparently, Musk is very close to JD Vance (as is Peter Thiel), and he has agreed to pay $45m every month into a SuperPac for the November election. So that's why Trump chose Vance - money. Yes, everything is about the money. Musk wants his vision for AI to become law, and with this money he gets it. Musk's self-importance is astounding. He's always had designs on being a political bigwig, and if Trump wins Musk will be directing policy through his massive donations. (And that's why, perhaps, he asked for that big payout from his board members - or was it shareholders? - recently.)
I assumed MAGA was aware of Crooks ties to right wing groups and Vance pick would appease them.
