Al, Thanks for visiting us at the fair and sharing the video.
To quickly clarify-the energizer flashes a green light when the battery is fully charged. If the energizer (and panel) is placed in the shade, or there are 4 or more cloudy days, the light will flash red/green and eventually red only. This means the battery is not sufficiently charged (due to lack of sunlight). Turn off the energizer, disconnect it from the fence and recharge with the included 110V adapter.
Grounding-Recommendations for grounding is 3 ft per joule of output (this is standard throughout the industry). Units with less than 1 joule of output can use smaller ground fields (0.3 joule unit shown in the video). That covers a majority of U.S.A. fencing conditions. In moist soils, smaller ground rods can be used because the soil efficiently carries the pulse through the soil to the ground rod (via moisture). This is not the case in dry soils, where more grounding is necessary. The metal spike in the video works well in moist soils with up to a 1.2 joule unit. If the soil is dry, more ground rods will be needed (in addition to the spike shown) to make up for the lack of moisture.
If you have any questions let us know and we'll help you out.

That seems to be a nice compact unit. Glad he mentioned auxiliary ground rods which might be necessary in some locations.

I have the Premiere 1 poultry netting set up and love it. Something got my neighbors chickens and the next night something "tried" to get to my chickens, but couldn't get past the netting.

I have a question about this fencing system. We have a small coop and permanent run off the back of our porch. We want to extend their grazing area out to different parts of our yard by just opening the little gate we have and letting them run out into this type of fencing so that we can change the area, but always have them coming in and out of their little gated area. The question is, can this fencing be used with a gate opening or does it need to 'touch' to make the circuit work? We would put the first stake in on one side of the gate, loop out about 40 feet, over 20, then 40 more feet back to the other side of the gate opening. I can draw it, but not explain it well. Thanks!

How are you charging your battery now? Do you have to worry about the bottom wire touching the ground on yours?
Couldn't you add a small solar panel from Amazon?

Have you done a video on that? I live in vt and it’s hard to find someone in New England doing reviews on solar fences or battery powered. Most videos I see it’s people living in state with more sun then us. Thanks!
      Love the channel!

LOL Al I love your videos and no fault of your own i didnt get sold on this energizer because when a salesman says I THINK it doesnt fill me with confidence. mainly because the intergrated ground rod wasn't connected to the energized grid yet the light wasnt blinking red or something ?

    • @LumnahAcres
      @LumnahAcres  Před 7 lety

i also am impressed with the all in one portability for quick ,possibly daily ,movement of the fence. but salesmen need to know their product inside and out . especially for serious consumers. nothing worse than finding a problem or fault in design after buying a large ticket item . something as simple as a location of a fuel tank filler gas cap . type thing

A picture of what actually DID work would have been good. They sent me the same setup with the wrong instructions. And the AC plug wires are left out completely of the instructions 🙄

Didn't see a email address for you.
Other day I posted build your own incubator, here's a link for starter ideas.
#1 I'm gonna have tray turner on out side , n rods or pipe turn the baskets so I can easily stop movement of one tray or so due to a tray maybe hatching later or sooner, with ability to lock in place.
#2 removable baskets/trays that set inside the turn baskets, for cleaning or placing new hatch chicks in to a brooder.
#3. I'm currently using a very nice heat control made for the HVAC business, priced nice ,easy to use, have three set up & in use now for small incubator or brooder controls.
#4. Place or use different humidity pans/sponges.
#5 use fans , one large , two smaller to promote a Circle effect , so three at least .
This one seems to work for her, 150 eggs is a lot to collect n start. I think humidity is important, how ever my hens that hatch out eggs seem to do ok with out a humidity meter n so exact.
That be reason to be able to load at different intervals.
Sorry bit long winded, why not start with what you want to begin with.
Incubator used last year turned out three nice batches, then poof control board went bad.
Using HVAC controls now , one batch tru, second full of turkey eggs, due about two weeks.

I would not recommend this unit. Mine lasted a couple years and solar panel was completely shot and internals shot as well. They have a new one with a glass panel that should work better but for the price you can build your own high quality solar Energizer with more output for cheaper.
