You have to put the battery back in 5 times for it to reset to factory, if you do it 5 times the Sound will chance and it will be reset. Just a heads up :)

Such a simple fix, it didn’t pop up tried to figure it out who knew it was that simple just to turn the phone off and back on. Thank you for all the help.
Make sure you shut your iPhone off and then on first. To open airtag put your 2 thumbs on the silver part and press while you turn counter clockwise. 5 battery inserts resets the airtag if it fails to connect.

That fixed it! thank you so much! I had 4 other airtags already connected with my phone and my new one would not connect. I had no idea I had to do a software update for it to connect!

Just took mine apart....Speaker is in teh moddle of teh bottom and not attached to the cap. Pried the speaker out of middle put together and it still works... Thanks for the Tip Lofi
At 1:10, when you say "turn off your iPhone", do you mean power it down completely? Or just turn off the screen?
Also make sure Find My is enabled and that your location services are on for this app.

Hi, if the location is not updating for airtag try following - Settings -> Location services -> system services -> find my iPhone. Make sure to also turn on all other location-based services.
Can I connect it to a second iphone?
Heped me a lot. When you go to switch off phone, then it connects again. You can also go via Settings> General> Shutdown and the connection screen pops up. (Don't shut down unless it doesn't poop up). Other videos walk you through all the less common stuff first. And yes, initial set up is frustrating and needs its own App.

I'm doing everything and still doesn't work, when I goto factory reset it doesn't make any different sound. I tried fast battery swaps. Slow. Soft. Hard. I'm so upset and stressed out. What the hell am I doing wrong?
I just had the same thing happen to me, but I realized my goof. I was looking at the "Devices" page. Look at the "Items" page! Amazing what happens when we read the instructions!
I watched the video, tried taking my battery out and still had an issue with it and it didnt work. Restarting your device should fix that! It did for me anyway!
THE REAL FIX : Take the battery out 5 times in a row after you hear the chime. On the 5th time the chime will be different. You should be good after that.

Not only is this useless a lot of it is wrong, I would think everyone knows about the IOS and iPhone models - to reset an airtag you have to remove and replace the battery 5 times

It took ME 15. Who, how, what, when, and where? You all MUST be geniuses. It may take YOU 5 times, someone else 8, but that's ok. What I don't get is, how would a 61 year old super-NON-tech person know that you're supposed to; update a phone that automatically updates, and troubleshoot to a statistical degree that I'm SURE is high enough for manufactures to mention.
It's mass produced, and there will be glitches. For SOME of us (definitely 10ea.), weaving through those variables might be frustrating... especially to someone who may lose their $700.00 car keys every hour ON the hour, and every 15 minutes in between 😂😂😂😂😂😂somebody, PLEASE stop this ride.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
One of my tags play whenever I walk with it or pick it up. But the other one don’t. Why is that?
If nothing works remove your iPhone case. Lol it worked for me after following all instructions online
I reset the airtag but now I only get a different chirp and it will not connect. Tried restarting my phone etc.

I Had no issues and actually connecting straight out of the box my problem is actually locating it on my phone my phone does not show that I have AirTags connected how do I fix that after updating and shutting my phone on and off

@@LOZlaura Same here. It seems like the first 4 air tags I bought no longer work even after changing the batteries. I did here the sound when I installed them. Next step, I'l try Panasonic batteries instead of Energizer batteries.

I just moved my fingers back and forth on the battery and then the AirTag connection popped up on my phone.
