This and Drift Bible is all you need to be a pro drifter 🍻
If you make a modern version, try to re-create that hair cut!
BRING BACK THE CLASSIC AUSSIE ACCENT !
I liked that vid ten years ago lol
I remember watching this year's ago 😅
We definitely need a modern version!
1000%
Drift scene is almost dead in many country now due to massive regulation & punishment revision. It's all about Electric car rocket launch upgrade now
@@fabrb26 me drifting an electric car. The Scene might be almost dead in many countrys, but thats an even better reason to make a new version. To keep the scene alive!
Yes!
And Alexi needs a new hair style.. Sorry Alexi...
love how alexi's gotten to the point where there's alexi lore, and this is just the directors cut
what a fancy way to call him old!
😂😂
Alexi lore, lmbo!! 😂
There has always been Alexi lore, he's just revisiting it now.
life be like that some times
Instructions unclear my car is now stuck in a tree thanks alot Alexi
You need moar clutch kicks!
Painfully unfunny
So what you're saying is that you have the best spectator spot at the track?
fuckin 2005 alexei
step tree?
Dude, making that road animation but in 2005 would've been hardcore. I struggled to model a fish in Maya for Uni last year 😂
I started on Maya 3.0 on an SGI Irix box 😆
3D Studio max is what I learnt. Wouldn't have the patience for it now.
@@gav240z maya is a whole different animal, 3ds is much easier to learn
Totally reminds me of the Initial D animations!
@@noriyaro where the hell did you get an SGI from?
This fashion style has definitely come back, baggy cargo pants in bold colors and printed long sleeve tees.
I know i was just thinking about it. I love this fashion style it’s how I dress almost every day
Still got this DVD dude, remember watching back as a 7 year old, let alone drifting at drift cadet with you, mad times
That signal sound triggered my muscle memory and i looked for my phone automatically, only to realize ive last heard that sound like 12 years ago. I havent even realized we stopped hearing that sound and now i need to know why.
Damn, I remember watching this back in the day.
I also remember attending one of the drift days at that same location and recognising you from this exact DVD.
I also, also remember one of my mates at the time that borrowed that DVD, practised said techniques down in the 'Nasho' one night and subsequently backing his R33 into a tree. It wasnt too bad and we fixed it. I think his pride took most of the impact.
Good times..
this man has been drifting longer than i’ve been alive cheers
Making ME feel old- god damn
The video is as old as me 😅
Oh wow, Noriyaro had a mullet back in the day.
Drift Aussie Jesus
Wow. This was absolutely spectacular, amazing! One of your best episodes ever! Waiting for the modern version with the S15 :)
I remember these. So many memories.
You fitted up a sil80 with a diff and taught a guy to drift.
And your trip to Japan in HPI 10. One of my faves
if anyone is curious this track does exist on assetto corsa!
Uau
name?
This oscillation between nods of approval and concerned looks is golden, great content as usual !
That interference noise is almost nostalgic at this point. lol I could be in an online game lobby, and know when I'm getting a phone call before it actually gets to my phone. xD
One of the better explanations for how to handbrake entry that i’ve seen. Glad you are sharing this with us and breaking it down! Maybe a remake with the beans at Tsukuruma? Remind the kids that they dont need horsepower to get sliding haha
We were really lucky to have HPI, Zoom and Drift Battle magazines back in the day. R.I.P Express Publications
Subscriptions were the key. I still have my digital tyre gauge that I got from one of them.
Hey Alexi, I'm really enjoying this retrospective type content. Love seeing the extended Noriyaro lore. As someone on the cusp of being financially capable of getting into drifting it's stuff like this that keeps me motivated to do so despite the whole financial aspect, especially given the state of the US used car market (oof) ((and epic upcoming recession)). How dare you inspire me to get into such a money pit. The fun better be worth it. Much love, can't wait to see where your videos go
I also started getting emotional during this video, all those shots of Oran Park make me miss it more than anywhere. Best motorsport facility in Australia by a long way. I remember ducking debris from cars crashing many times because you could get so close to the track. Oran Park town can EAD
I was watching this on my phone using headphones and when I heard the cracking noise I thought I was gonna receive a call. Thanks for making me feel old 😂
I just binged all the otomoto stuff last week, some real gems in there including Darren Appleton blowing up an RB20 box on his 2nd lap of Nikko
Alexi you're an OG in so many ways. Just by watching this old tutorial we can appreciate the spirit of the original Noriyaro... it's just more polished and experienced these days.
Loved this format of reviewing a video of yourself 😆 I think you did pretty well back then!
I believe you were chosen to be an ambassador of drift and JDM car culture, nobody has your unique style. And yes, we need an modern version of this!
This is why Alexi is who he is, not an imitator & a total OG legend!!!
I was right there with you, own every issue HPI & Drift Battle mag/DVD. I'd eat, sleep, & breath it! (still do😅)
Listened to you religiously on this DVD, tried to set-up my own 180SX same as yours back then.
Bring back stock knuckle drifting
This is a window for Americans into Australian Youth. More specifically the Ethnic Car Cult side, full of every Commodore ever made, from rotary conversions to cheap Berlina's all while getting defected every three weeks.
I miss being a teenager... and I miss my old VT Commodore. It was a piece of junk... BUT IT WAS MY PIECE OF JUNK. So many good times in that car.
Nostalgic edit: I never thought I'd call something from 2005 as nostalgic...
Please find more archived videos, these are gold ^^
I actually thought I was getting a text as that noise happened ... hahaha. is it just me, or does this still happen in certain instances? I swear it still happens to me with certain electronics / speaker combos. edit: any time i need to laugh, I watch those "leaving a car show" videos. amazing stuff.
I think phones can still cause interference, but that sound was from the GSM network phones everyone had back then before 3G came out.
I was 5 when you made this.
“Ya need pa’ar to keep ‘er goin’” About as Australian as The Chats😂😂
This takes me back, I loved Drift battle and HPI! They were sold here in NZ and were way more JDM than other mags available here(although JDM wasn't really a thing then)
I did the 180 too, r33 gtr wheels, nardi deep corn and a pair of brixs, perfection!
i was almost exactly half old than now :D (in 2005)
These retro-style vids are very good. Feel nostalgic and feel a bit sad.. these was simplier times.. and the the 'electro cricket' (mobile aply bugging) is soo 2000's :D
My dad actually collect drift battle magazine, he is really into drifting back in the day.
This one the actually one of the legit videos I used to learn how to drift.
Alexi giving good tips and amazing explanation.
and me here taking notes as if it would change the fact that my car has less than 100 hp and a open diff.
18:55 this is still done on racing/track day motorcycles to prevent potential fluid spill (usually with a wrist sweat band). Riding over spilt brake fluid on a motorcycle is scary and obviously dangerous.
Hell yeah, i remember this haha, i remember taking that dvd to school and watching it on the tv trolley one rainy lunchtime 😂 there were only 3 of us out of the whole year level watching it, everyone else was talking, mostly about phones 😂
The background while your talking of Japan and the car meet spot is epic. Love the info you bring about the culture over there ❤
Should bring back that haircut.
14:36 A modern lesson from Alexi on how to drift would be awesome !
That was awesome!
Love the throwback vid review!
I am just here to see those un-cracked dashboards, oh what a time to be alive
@4:56 That speaker interference noise I am so familiar with it. I am so happy you stopped to bring it up and I was not the only one to remember it. 🤣🤣
I actually learned how to drift from this old video on my CA18 powered S13. Thank you very much for creating this back then!
Love the nostalgia this content brings. All of your content is great really. Thanks for sharing!
BAE WAKE UP, ALEXI JUST POSTED!!!
I LOVE these old videos. Fantastic content as always Alexi!
5:11 I was genuinely glancing at my phone waiting for it to start ringing even though it is new and doesn't even use that radio system aymore.
Yes more videos like this please!! As someone trying to get into drifting this was fantastic!!
Uncle alexi watching young alexi is a vibe 😅❤
Boy is that ever how we all were back then. Thank you for the walk down memory lane.
Oh man! the nostalgia! When I was 17 I stumbled on this video.. at the time I had a NA 180sx, two other friends had 180sx's DET and another mate with a Honda civic who was the camera car. We would constantly watch this video over and over and head out and learn off this video! every weekend we go out and find a traffic cone on the road and take it and head off to industrial areas to practice. the amount of trouble we got into though, it was so worth it. You and Jesse were absolute gods to us ahahaha. Those late night kebab runs after a street sesh, you were the only prime topic we would talk about the entire night.. unfortunately since then the boys have parted and gone their own ways but the most important thing was we were so happy. we believed damaging our cars during street practice was a rite of passage and we kept them that way, it gave our cars 'character' we're in our 30s now and every few months we would catch up and still talk about you and the times we did some really questionable things with our cars. I'm so happy you're still doin what you're doin man! hopefully you'll make another tutorial for the new gens who will share the happiness we did. Keep up the awesome work!
omg the concept of DVDs being sold alongside magazines is certainly an unlocked childhood memory of mine
I hope this is the prologue to the new version of the video. I'm looking forward to seeing it! I believe that it will be very useful, considering all your experience that you have gained over the years!
also, it is so fun to see a smile on your face as you see your old self! it brings so much joy 'cause of nostalgia I think, and for us it brings so much joy because of how cute you are haha!
we need a modern version of a drifting lesson video! (especially, if it is possible, using a low-powered cars)
Love that retro styled videos! Definitely need a modern version of how to drift!
Hahaha I remember religiously studying this video! It helped me out so much when I was learning to drift. Thank you for all that you have done, Alexi!
daam this is so old... blessed days!
Thanks for the Manji down memory lane! 👍
sounds like im watching mightycarmods
Step one: jack up yo cah
Please do a updated version! it would help heaps of people
I wasnt around in 2005 but I do remember seeing this dvd when I was younger for some reason
I dont know if it was just reposted ALOT online back in 2012 or what
i am LOVING all these uploads!!!!
I been subbed since 2013/14…havnt been watching vids I got back into em when I seen you had decals on NFS in 2015/16 then fell off…your so underrated bro! Keep up the videos !!!
That in car camera set up is elite. Bring it back mate
This was really cool to see thank you for sharing it with us. An updated one would also be very cool, not to mention very beneficial to someone like me who still doesn’t have a manual RWD car yet
I remember watching this 10 years ago when first getting into drifting, actually helped!
i have over 15 years of driving experience, i have driven to the moon and back in racing. the KEY to drifting is Eurobeat. if you play this music in your car, your car will drift. everytime.
I LOVE THESE TYPES OF VIDEOS!
your driving was really good for the time. Would love to see a modern version, you're probably one of the most indicated people for that!
I was a HUGE fan on the HPI magazines and DVDs back in the day. I never missed a publication and was sad to see it go. Thanks for the memories.
I had this back in the day. such a good magazine. good memories!
THIS is a pure gem bro
OP North is still my favourite out of all the tracks. So many track days with Initial Drift that we took for granted at the time.
Such a shame what happened to it.
Damn im 34 and this was a trip to the past thank you so much for uploading this old ones. Amazing how good old advice is just good advice in general . PS please make a garage update soon.
That was my Purple SR20 AE86 on the Drift Battle, sooo awesome
What funny timing seeing this video after I have just done a beginner session night at Archerfield drift park. I was struggling to grasp the basics and was instructed to enter with a clutch kick which although very effective didn’t seem like the correct way to learn how to initiate a drift. I hope you do a revised video and I’ll be watching the inertial/Scandinavia flick drift entry guide which just seems like both the most stylish and mechanically friendly technique on what’s already a very violent style of Motorsport ! Multiple thumbs up for this video also
Bloody hell I had an aneurism when I heard the speaker beeping, thank you for reminding me of the simpler times 😂
Like the sands through the hourglass, so does nostalgia of noriyaro
The saddest thing about this video is that it looks like it was recorded at Oran Park, one of the best circuits in Australia that was sadly torn down a few years ago to make space for housing development. Same fate as Riverside in the US, which was demolished to make space for malls, parking lots and all of that rubbish.
bro young alexi is so cool, his accent to his get up to his style is so outdated yet so goddamn cool
This video was incredible 🙏🙏
i love this type of your videos, they are like stories told by this cool uncle
This is so amazing!!
Really enjoyed this video and the recent work you're doing, hopefully once I can afford to spare some money for the patreon I'll remember to actually do it. Stay safe Alexi!
Best era in my opinion. I had all the magazines and DVDs.
i really love this type of videos 🤘
Dai koku's background is dope
Once a drift goblin, always a drift goblin
14:08 Using high caster angle and modified suspension alignment to self steer. Slipping the rears will allow the caster to do it's thing. - That's why they just give minimal input.
Fully sick mate!
Definitely need to make one now with all your experience
Really good content, it's refreshing from the batshit crazy car stuff (don't get me wrong we still love those vids) but these sit down chill videos are really fun to watch
5:04 I laughed when i heard that sound, brought back so many memories lmao
Oran Park was a sweeeet track for a track day. That exit of the final turn against the concrete wall was real
Alexi, you've gotta bring back that hair man. Ngl you'd rock it now. I'm 21, so if a youngster if suggesting it, you know it's facts.
That track is so cool. I love the sort of figure-eight with the bridge.
I literally learned to drift from this tutorial, and learned to drift on that exact course 🙌
I remember searching up how to drift on youtube and unexpectedly found your old driftbattle video. I was surprised when I saw you in it
Super cool vintage video!
