LOL! Nobody would buy them. :) Thank you, Richard, for all your support, kind and encouraging words and for taking the time to write them. I hope you know that it's much appreciated by Sister and me. ;)

Hi there. I'm frustrated. My 2000 Toyota Camry XLE 2.2 is still cutting out.

Is DIY worthwhile? Walmart Auto has low prices for changing oil.

Yes, absolutely! It's the ONLY way to know for sure that it is done correctly. I have known too many people who ended up with problems. If you MUST have it done go to a certified mechanic that you can TRUST!!!

Yes, Andre, without a doubt--DIY your house and your vehicle! Never let someone else fix or touch your vehicle or house if you can do it yourself. If you can't, I hope you learn how to. Most folks are plenty bright and have the knowledge to do a good and honorable job, but they are allergic to hard work, tend toward mediocrity, oversell you, scam you and don't care about their work product or the results. I only hire out if I absolutely have to. I know that I use better quality materials and do a better work. Even if I don't know how to fix something, I learn how to. There's nothing like the feeling of satisfaction that comes from fixing something yourself.
FYI--The estimates from contractors to re-roof my house were $25,000 to $27,000 before "tear off," which means the actual costs would have been about $30,000 if I had a contractor do it. My sister and I re-roofed my house ourselves, and it cost me $6,200 in materials, including new seamless gutters. I hope that illustrates how much of your hard-earned money you keep when you DIY and can retire early on. ;)

I used to change oil myself, however, the pricing and quality of service at Walmart is so good that I can no longer justify the time, mess and some safety risk of climbing under my car to do it myself.
