Everyone has their favorite Doctor and their favorite companion but I'm pretty sure most Whovians can agree that Wilf is a real treasure.
If I were to ever make a tier list, Wilfred would be on a pedestal above all
Wilf is doctor's dad ❤
Well, my favourite Doctor and companion is The 11th and Clara.
@@jeannguyen3199 So you hate Wilf?
@@currykingwurst6393 Why would that be your conclusion.
It's now clear that Bernard Cribbins became very ill during filming, yet he still managed to bring all that Wilf energy to this scene. A pro to the last.
What a champ!
They’d written more for Wilf, but Bernard was too ill to continue. He’s wanted to, but he just couldn’t.

Say what now...?
@@netherfreakultima4498The actor who plays Wilf (Bernard Cribbins), passed away last year. They managed to film him as Wilfred one last time before he died
@@netherfreakultima4498 This is literally the only scene he was still well enough to film. Yes, he briefly appeared at the very beginning of *The Giggle* but that was a stand-in actor and archive audio.
Would be considerably more difficult filming it after he died to be fair
@@ClockMaster-mq2hm ok, that makes sense
this was such a heartwarming scene, Bernard Cribbins was a brilliant actor
Not only in one of the Dr Who movies in the 60s, but also this: czcams.com/video/UTS8MMqhMxY/video.html
I'm gonna miss him😢
In 60 years of show, Wilf is easily one of the most beloved characters ❤
Yeh surprising they didnt gender swap him aswell
i agree 100%.❤❤❤❤❤
@@plummet3860 its insane that people like you have the audacity to act like you're the oppressed ones because you (cis white straights) don't represent 99% of the media's depicted characters anymore. News flash: no western country is all straights, all whites or all cis gendered people. These appropriate mixes that we see in the media these days are not only more accurate to the world they're depicting but also less bland and repetitive. Grow up and touch grass will you.
@@plummet3860 if seeing an alien shapeshifter actually shift bodies regardless of gender traumatizes you maybe you shouldn't watch doctor who 🙄
@@plummet3860 apparently you missed out on the entirety of Jodie Whittaker's tenure as the 13th doctor.
This might be the best accidental final tribute to an actor, and character ever, after grieving the grand daughter he lost to the memory wipe, "she was better with you" he finally gets to see that Donna found herself again and the incredible joy at seeing her and the doctor reunited is, so, so lovely, and the doctor gets to see that his tenth life wasn't wasted as, even as humanity falls to it's the impulses the old soldier guards resolute and despite his fragility, will lay his life on the line out of pure kindness and optimism. Wilfred mot is everything that the doctor wants humanity to be and single handedly, undoubtedly, refutes the no-things view of life in the universe, if there was ever a doctor who character that was a true paragon it's Wilf, we all aspire to embody the doctor's ideals, but the doctor aspires to live up to wilf's example, the soldier who never killed a man.
I really enjoyed reading this lovely tribute to the character. Many of us were attached to and inspired by this loving old soldier.💜
This is brilliant
This is a beautiful tribute to one of, if not thee best, doctor who character/companion ^_^
I like to think The Doctor gave old Wilf a hug for all of us to send him off with love.
This is so beautifully said!!
The best part about this scene is that it happens at the end of 'Wild Blue Yonder', of all stories. About deceptive faces and the not-things representing hate ("love letters don't travel very far").
For Wilf to see the same face that gave his 10th life for him means the world. And the Doctor who he sees isn't a horrible doppelganger. The 14th Doctor is the real deal, because he can love ("I loved that man") and while the Not-Things want to wage war on the Universe, Wilf is the old soldier who never killed anyone ("Don't say that like it's shameful!").
Probably a massive coincidence, that this scene happened at the end of 'Wild Blue Yonder' but if so, it was a very happy accident. R.I.P. Bernard Cribbins.
RIP Mr cribbins!
Wilfred would definitely never harm anyone, except for moles apparently? That still seems way out of character for him. I know RTD needed an excuse for why he wasn't at the dinner. But shooting moles? Really?
@@JamieSwitzerhe probably knew they had a forcefield
I wasn't a fan of of the episode but it did have its moments. The return of Bernard Cribbins as Wilf was certainly one of them. It was great to see the legend, even if only for this brief moment.
Very well put Mr. TARDIS !
Seeing him again made me cheer Wilf so loud that I thought my sister and her boyfriend might have heard me
Plot twist: they thought the same.
Honestly Wilf is such a delight
@@Dracashino 🤣
That's why they were clapping
They were (10th Doctor in DOTD voice) “busyyyy”
Seeing Bernard Cribbins act the absolute hell out of Wilfred Mott, one last time, is a balm on the soul.
Rest well, you old soldier.
RIP Bernard Cribbins - he brought such soul to the role of Wilf and his relationship with The Doctor!
There’s characters we love and characters we hate. Some we love to hate and hate to love.
But Wilf is the one character that never shows up on bad lists. No matter what. Every whovian loves that sweet old man.
So often, beloved actors die and leave their characters with sad cliffhangers. I'm glad Wilfred isn't one of them. He got his reunion hug from his weird alien grandson, and will live on happily with his family in canon. Thank you, Mr. Cribbins, and rest in peace. 🥲
I love the Doctor being Wilf's weird alien grandson
You get them moles, Wilf!
reunion hug from his weird alien grandson is the most wholesome phrase rn i don't know why😭
Their reactions to seeing each other are exactly what I expected them to be. RIP Bernard. And thanks for this one last scene.
THE MOST HEARTWARMING MOMENT OF THE SPECIAL FOR SURE WILF IS ICONIC
When I first saw this, I felt EXACTLY the same way 14 did when we got to see Wilfred one last time.
"Now I feel better! Now nothing is wrong, nothing in the whole wide world!"
Truly brilliant seeing Bernard Cribbins one last time before his passing. Rest in peace you brilliant man

David plays this so well, even though it's been years and we've grown to cherish other faces of the doctor; the stare he gives here really makes you believe he was also there with us this whole time
Well put. The long pause and stare had me just having flashbacks of things like the Pandorica.
I really love that they didn’t cut this out or kill him off just to align with reality. I feel so much happier knowing Wilf still lives in the Whoniverse.
I’m just said we didn’t get another: “It’s dem aliens again.”
He didn’t know it was caused by aliens, more so caused by corrupted governments.
They said they considered it, but decided not to.
@@NaaimSiddiqi awww ok. any explanation why?
RTD apparently considered mentioning it in The Giggle and then Phil Collinson objected IIRC@@tazdivil6527
@@tazdivil6527 The Toymaker is not a alien but an elemental force.
Seeing Wilf see the Doctor again really felt like, for a moment, nothing was wrong with the world.
Easily one of my favourite ever scenes of Doctor Who. It's not just poignant for a national treasure like Bernard coming back after 13 years, or even that it's more emotional given his passing... but that the only scene he was able to film, when things are so often filmed out of order, was THIS scene. The reunion. It was meant to be, and it was beautiful. Rest in peace, Bernard Cribbins ❤
Amen.
Bless our Bernard Cribings he was a star when he played Wilfried Mott, and he is still out there somewhere across the universe in a parallel universe, so sleep well soldier and RIP Bernard Cribings

That’s one of the most beautiful, heartwarming scenes in the history of Doctor Who. Bernard will always be remembered as someone who truly embodied the spirit of the show. Hello me old soldier ❤️
I had no idea this was coming and thought the whole bit in the first episode of ‘he’s in a home’ etc was just so we didn’t all feel sad. So I was punched in the emotions by this. Bloody lovely man.
Wild Blue Yonder is proof that the new era, whether it's good or bad, will have some pure gems of episodes that just... work.
“I’d be proud, If you were my dad.”
10th Doctor to Wilf.
Father and son reunite.
That expression he has seeing the doctor is just perfect it feels right and i love him. I love wilf and heard he had died but hadn’t heard he filmed this, i actually had to google to see if i had heard wrong
I love wilf
“I loved that man”
~
Rest Well, beautiful Bernard. We love you. 💙
Forever going to be my favourite scene. It’s just fantastic that he was well enough to film this scene. Heartbreaking that we had to say goodbye to him one last time ❤😢
David Tennant summed it up - Bernard Cribbins was a magical human being ❤
Rest well, Old Soldier. You and Captain Mike Yates.
The way Wilf hugs himself at 1:17 is absolute top-drawer acting...but you know it isn't acting - he and David Tennant loved each other.
My heart.
If you don't get feels from this, especially from Wilf's reaction to seeing The Doctor, you're not human. ❤❤❤
i love that Wilf looks like he was about to cry due to being overcome with joy
rip ❤
Wholesome moment and memory of Bernard Cribbins aside, I want to talk about the script here.
I love how Wilf says "I never lost faith, I said he'll come back and save us." and "Listen, you've gotta do something, Doctor!"
It implies that while Wilf doesn't really know or understand the stuff the Doctor gets up to all that well, he fully trusts him. He's certain that, whatever happens, the Doctor will make it right.
Nice to see David Tennant play the Doctor alongside Wilf one last time.
I hope the target novel by James Goss shows off what RTD originally had planned for Wilf to do. Don’t get me wrong, his send off was lovely here but I’m curious as to what Russell’s Original vision of The Giggle was with Wilf involved. I’d love to have had one last one to one conversation with at the end similar to the deep emotional talks they had in The End of Time.
Maybe the best scene of Dr Who in a good few years
Really glad we got this last scene with Wilf, it’s sad. But I’m glad we got what we got from him. ❤
I teared up at this scene, I heard Bernard Cribbins died last year and genuinely thought we wouldn’t see him reunite with the Doctor. It was a very welcomed shock to see him in this episode in the flesh. The old soldier who meant the world to the Doctor. May he rest in peace.
I really cried seeing this reunion😢
RIP old soldier
Oh man, seeing the Doctor and Wilf reunite, I cried, but were happy tears!! I started watching when Matt Smith took over, but constantly watch Doctor and Donna in reruns. Seeing Bernard Cribbins before his death brought back so many feelings
Wilfs reacation to seeing that face again after the end of time 😭
Bernard cribbins was the loveliest person we ever had the pleasure of seeing on our screens that man was the most splendid and beautiful soul
My favorite part was 1:26-1:35.
The most wonderful man we all know and love. He will always be remembered and never forgotten.
❤😊😇
It was fantastic to see Wilf reunite with the Doctor and Donna one last time. Goodbye, me old soldier.
A Doctor Who legend, he shall be remembered forever.
A scene we'll treasure forever
Wilf is one of the best characters of the RTD era I am so glad we at least got one scene from him. And I love how he’s just there.
Wilf! Not only did I get Donna back, my favorite companion, but Wilf as well! I just love his and The Doctor's reactions to each other. Warmed my heart to no end ❤❤
I love the in flight ambiance of this new Tardis console room… complete with the traditional landing chime! Even noticed the light appear in the main door windows when the Tardis landed!
It was great seeing him again one last time. A truly iconic character. RIP Bernard Cribbins.
You can see the excitement on Wilf`s face, and how much he loves the Doctor in this scene
Bernard appeared in "Doctor Who" in both movies and television. A fine comedy and character actor. Great to see him as Wilfred one last time. Be at peace, old soldier.
Bernard Cribbins. From the Doctor’s companion Special Constable Tom Campbell in the 1966 ‘Daleks’ Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.’ film to Wilfred Mott, the 10th AND 14th Doctor’s non-traveling companion ~ and the grandad everyone wishes they could have into the 2020’s.
What a guy.
Happy birthday Bernard. So glad you got to see the Doctor on final time.
Seeing Bernard Cribbins reappear as Wilf in this scene is both happy and sad at the same time. It's happy because it's been a while since he was last in an episode, and sad because this was the only scene Bernard could film before his health declined to the point where he passed away. RIP Bernard Cribbins, one of the best things to happen to Doctor Who.
This is so sweet ❤
Rest in peace Bernard Cribbins🕊
Wilf gets the Best Companion award in my book. Who else has to tenacity to fight a Dalek with a paintball gun? And he wasn't too shabby with a gun turret either. Rest well, old soldier.
The Doctor was right. Seeing Wilf again, even just briefly, made everything all right.
Rest in peace Wilfred
Honestly seeing Bernard return in this was special and certainly would say letting Wilf's character have an important part at the end of the episode going into the giggle, shows also how important the character has been over the years under 10.
I will always love Wilf and I’m so grateful we got one final visit with him. May Bernard rest in peace, he is loved. ❤️❤️❤️
I burst into tears when he came on the screen, what a moment this was
“You’re as beautiful as the day I lost you”
Of all scenes, in all media; those one puts a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye no matter what.
That he was in it prior to his death makes this even more heart jerking
BUT i absolutely LOVE! that in the end of the next ep there is a line that Wilford is shooting weasels, followed by a gun shot in the distance.
Meaning we didnt loose him, he is still somewhere "over there" doing something that makes him happy.
Bernard Cribbins. Actor, legend.
I legit cried at this scene, knowing that Bernard had already passed when we saw it. It was so unexpected, and wonderful to see him one last time.
I cried. I didn't think I would, but I cried as soon as he showed up on screen. I love that man.
I find it really that Bernard’s reaction to seeing the Doctor was real emotion but it just played well enough into his acting, the reason being is because that’s one of the last times he’ll see David’s face, the last times he’ll see his Doctor. He knew his time was coming
Bernard was literally dying while filming this and gave it his all. Thanks for giving us one last bit of Wilf, old boy.
I can't stop watching this video over and over again
When Wilf came on screen, every Whovian had the same expression as Wilf in that scene
That "a lot" just shows how much he's hurting
Exactly . All those losses , suffering , experiences and battles. Billions of yrs through 3 incarnations.
RIP Bernard Cribbins 1928-2022, may he travel time and space again in the new world🕊
I cried when I got to see him on screen again! He is a national treasure and a beloved doctor who companion!

Officoallycrying my 52 year old watching this. Thank you Bernard me old Soldier. Xxxx
It’s sad that the likely real reason Wilf was off-screen, shooting moles, during the family lunch, was because Bernard Cribbins was either too unwell or had already passed. Still, it was nice we got to have this one last moment with the wonderful man.
Wilf will never not make us cry
The best moment of the episode
its sad he couldnt do more as was intended but this is magical and will live on forever R.I.P Bernard
I loved that Bernard Cribbins was able to come back for one last scene. I only wish he could see the inside of the TARDIS and say "Finally! You cleaned it!"
Ill admit. I havent watched Doctor Who since the 10th doctors first run. But when I saw this clip, I smiled when I saw Wilf! I loved his character! Such a beautiful man!

Damn i thought this was going to possibly be a behind the scenes on their meeting again.
Such an incredible moment to see
Only thing missing is an "It's them aliens!" But so glad we got to see Wilf one last time
We used to pray for times like this. RIP Bernard Cribbins.
How can one man stir such feels?
Damn Bernard was amazing!
A final parting gift ❤ Rest in peace Bernard Cribbins ❤
Bitter sweet thought: After Wilf passes, the family is sitting around when Kate arrives with a bottle of her father's favorite brandy and they all sit around sharing stories about growing up with Wilfred and the Brigadier, the Doctor tells them about some of the adventures he'd gone on with both, Sean probably talks about asking Wilf for Donna's hand and being terrified, and the Doctor tells Kate about an old WWI Captain he met twice one Christmas Eve. They all share a toast "To old soldiers!"
So happy we got to see Wilf’s smiling face one last time
Vaya Con Dios, old soldier
