WTW - we REALLY REALLY need to see a CLAY BLOCK test between these HOP 300gr. 450BM - VS - .45-70gov. that would be AWESOME with 100yd group comparison......... 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Thanks for another GREAT video WTW.....
I met a lady whose husband created the 450 Bushmaster, Tim LeGendre, she has an awesome story about her late husband and showed me a few videos of him taking about calibers and ammunition
I bought my ar platform 450 bushmaster, used for $470. Had upgraded stock, trigger, scope and handguard. Was told it kept jamming, they had standard 5.56 mag which caused its feeding issue. Bought a few 450 mags and hasn’t had an issue yet. Never heard of 450 bushmaster when I bought it but couldn’t pass on the price
@@allthingsconsidered3211 another reason chose the socom, i already had an extensive inventory of 45/70 projectiles and bullet molds, it was a no brainer for me.
Good deal! Why do so many people spend the money on a new gun, but then cheap out and the damn magazines? They won't spend another $15 - $20.00 for the correct magazines, but expect the .223 mags to preform flawlessly with a .450 Bushmaster! People are just stupid! 😬
If you have a AR-15, go to Midway USA and get a 450 barrel for it. All you have to do is drop it in the ar lower. Now you have a nice AR 450. And you can use the 5.56 mags. The ar mags holds 11rds of 450.
The bushmaster seems to be a beast. Surprised by that group. That's pretty good shooting. Hopefully your saving them water jugs for the video I've been waiting for 😂. 7mm-08 vs 308. Also like to see them to rounds against each other in paper plates. Me and my kids got out to the range today first time in awhile. Winter finally broke here.
XTP is the very best handgun or straight wall bullet out there I've used them in my 50cal muzzle loader my ruger super red hawk 44mag and my 454 casull red hawk
I run these Hornady 300 grn 45 cal XTPs in my muzzleloader for whitetails. I get muzzle velocities hanging around 1600 fps. They do an impressive job on the critters.
I've shot 240 grain Hornady XTPs in my 50cal muzzleloader for years. They always seem to perform pretty well in whitetail deer. I'll have to check this load out for my 450BM!
Been shooting those in my 450BM since about 2013. Surprisingly good accuracy for such a big freight train round. My own loads. Most powders I’ve put behind it have the same results.
This is where sectional density matters ( or lack of )with short fat bullets . They don’t travel very straight especially in water . It basically turn into a round ball and don’t travel straight
If u can find some Kevlar material enough to stop a round n to make you a back stop after your fluid targets or whatever you shoot to try to catch it you will for sure be able to catch them
Just got my 450 BM upper from Bear Creek Arsenal. Was checking my reload manuals the 225 grain 452 diameter bullet from Hornady going 2495 fps, 3110 lbs muzzle energy. seems to be the sweet spot for reloaded ammo. 250 grain @ 2260 fps 300 grain Up to 1900 fps. Now this data was from a 24" barrel data was from Hodgdon online data. The difference between a 16" barrel and a 20" is 100" fps a 18" barrel only loses 50 fps. Depending what powder you use. This was to show max velocity for reloading. And the potential of this round. So keep them in the ten ring.
@@davidwright3634 no sir it's a AR-10 Bushmaster because of the ballistics the springs and everything else are made extra heavy duty including the lower altogether it does look like an AR-15 but actually it's an AR-10 have a great day sir
Would be interesting to shoot the 300 grain 45 caliber XTP out of a muzzle loader with 100-150 grain Triple Seven FFG loads over chronograph to compare velocities against the Bushmaster!
You can drop grizz and black bear which i have done. Also ELk, and still have not got a moose yet. Used underwood ammo in 450 bushmaster 350gr. Just a 4570 cousin. Also Black Butterfly makes great hot ammo for the 450 if they are not out.
i remember in the national rifleman magazine the writer Finn Aagard used wet magazines and news papers to check bullet performances might be something to try
I shoot with jugs alot the kids like it when we color the water different colors. But I used 2 totes about 20x36 filled with water. They will stop a 250 grain but a 300 went through both totes.
I am loading the XTP 300gr Mag in my Ruger Ranch. My reloads average 1870 fps and shoot about inch and half at a 100. Going to try them on black bear this fall.
An9ther great video...I read a comment somewhere about some dude having his Ruger 450BM barrel fail firing a 300gr through it and called Ruger to check on the specs. They told me that although there aren't any grain weight issues..."DO NOT USE REMANUFACTURED AMMO OR RELOADS!!!" Apparently the pressures are so high that they compromise the cases...so if anyone wants to load their own, like me eventually, use only new brass and don't get too heavy on the powder. I mean really, how much more impressive does it need to be?
I handload the 300 grain XTP bullet in the "magnum" version. Tougher bullet than the standard XTP. Wonder if House of Payne loads the magnum variety of XTP? The XTP magnum has a Tougher jacket and more controlled expansion at higher velocities. Being a handgun bullet, the traditional XTP performs well in 45 caliber handguns, but I suspect the XTP in the magnum version may fair much better in a higher velocity round such as the bushmaster. Just my thoughts on the matter. I've loaded some up and may test them in the near future.
Ahhh the elusive 450 boolots 🤣. Glad you finally found them brother. Am thinking of getting the 450 upper for my AR next week. Definitely don't like tracking deer, especially in the Appalachian mountains 😬. They seem to fall down the steepest hills.
Awesome video as always-I'd llike to see a game animal taken w the Norma Whitetail 6.5 Creedmoor load at some point-they group AWESOME in my Weatherby S2
Would like to see you shoot the 275 grain TSX or XPB. I find that they are vastly superior to the flex tip and I get sub MOA out of my 16” bushmaster brand name upper.
According to advertised velocity, the 450 Bushmaster should have more energy than a 458 Socom, but every chronograph test I see, it's the other way around. Most 300grs in 458 get 1800fps. I've only chrono'd 350gr and was getting 1700 with a 16" AR platform. I can't wait to sight it in with 600gr subs with my suppressor. What's the biggest grain subs or supers have y'all seen for the 450 Bushmaster?
if this goes through 9 were gonna have change it's name from 450 bushmaster to 450 elephant master or something Ha Ha! It is a fantastic hunting round. Very accurate with alot of power.
Every time I see him shoot,,,it's ALWAYS TO THE RIGHT. Either he pushes/pulls his shot. Or needs to adjust his scope a few inches left. It's every shot to t h e right.
Could u see if it's possible to put the pmag conversion kit on the Ruger American Ranch 450 bushmaster? I've been wanting to try it but idk if it works though.
Love it because I have that gun! Impressive group from 100! Have you ever done any videos on the cheap scopes you can buy off Amazon? I have one and other than being heavy I can’t find anything wrong with it. 45 dollars for a 3-9 56 mm with lighted retical.

That’s why I prefer 458 socom. No special mag needed. Standard 5.56 30 round holds 10 rounds of 458 socom.
@@basketofdeplorables4253 I didn't know that. Interesting
Absolutely love my socom. Uses 45-70 bullets if your into reloading which are popular

Go to the complete bottom of any page and click the “free targets”
And folks say I'm out of touch when I say that the most effective handgun and rifle calibers START with a "4".
