- In this episodes I meet up with a group of Austin ADV riders. We met in Spicewood Texas at the Chevron gas station. The group was a mix of ADV motorcycles, Honda Africa Twins, BMW GS, and Honda CFR. There were 9 of us with everyone driving at the proposed start time.
We headed there the hill country back roads then we hit 310 the Texas overland route. We crossed Sandy Creek and a few other low water crossings.
I top at Rudy’s BBQ then off to Marble Falls, Cedar Park for a beer. A ride home threw Logo Vista rounded the trip up.

Great video. I’m in the hill country right now for the first time on my Africa twin. The area is so vast I will definitely be back here as many times as I can.
Perfect time to be ridding the hill country. Enjoy.
That was nice that you guys were able to get around 71. Every now and then it can get a little old for sure.
Yep, back roads are so much more interesting.
Hello! My new friend.
Wow! It's a moving and fun 💗💘💛 motorcycle driving video.
Have a Christmas full of luck 🌷💞💕
👍👍👍🤙👌
Thank you, and Mary Christmas 🎄
Great job on the Video. I would love to see the map of the ride and do it in the fall.
I will be doing a camp and ride once the temps come down.
Pretty damn good video. Wish I knew when you guys. We’re riding…..I would drive up and join. Beautiful scenery….great videography. Thanks
DUDE! Good job on the video Tony! I can see I really missed out, but super glad you guys had so much fun.
Thanks man, saddle up next time
New Georgetown rider here. Would love to come meet you guys.
I’m thinking of doing a llano ride this month
@@IronButterflyAT Awesome! I’m heading back to New Mexico on the 24th of this month and will be gone a week, but that will give RideNow some time to add a few things to the Africa Twin (…like a damned windscreen that actually works). Let’s stay in touch!
New to sport here from Iowa for winter. Have a Tenere 700 would love to come for a ride staying around Bastrop! I have no idea how you would let me know? Around your guys age it looks like ! Great ride be safe!!!
Hi, these rides are posted in the event section of Austin Adventure Riders Facebook group.
I’m just learning to ride. Picked up an old KLR650 that has tons of “character” back in the spring. I’ve been working on it and learning. Passed the motorcycle safety course a few weeks ago. I’m out in Spicewood often to get together with family. Great video! Inspiring!
Thank you, this a great training ground for beginners
Is there a web site that has events and rides? Would have enjoyed going on that ride.
Yes, Adventure Riders of Austin
Very nice! I’m starting research for some interesting roads around Bandera, Tx. (A bit southwest from where you were on this ride, I think.) My wife and I are staying in Bandera and just spending a week riding around.
Nice!
This video is a couple years old, but wondering if this is a group in the Austin area still?
Yes it is, ADV riders of Austin
@@IronButterflyAT Awesome! I’m interested and I know someone else that will be too! What’s the main form of communication for the group. As far as upcoming rides and such?
FB
Great video, I have recently moved to central tx and would love to find a group to ride with. When’s the next time y’all are going out?
The group is Adventure Riders of Austin on FB
I’m one month into a total hip replacement so I’m not able to ride until November.
@@IronButterflyAT I’ve seriously been considering getting a Facebook account.
It is a good thing if you want to hook up with other riders and events.
Getting an ADV bike soon, looks like a beginner friendly route. Hard to know exactly where this is at after reading the description. Any additional info you can share so that I can locate this spot?
The route is the Texas overland route. You can enter off highway 71 at horseshoe bay. Or highway 16 at Oxford ranch.
Can a lowly klr650 come play?
Absolutely 😎
That was a fun ride. Did you map out the final route by any chance?
Not this ride but I have it mapped out now on my Garmin
Hey great video, I recently moved to North Austin and want to get in to off-road and backcountry riding. Currently riding Hayabusa. I was planning to buy a dual sport (CRF 250) or ADV (KTM 1190) Do you think a Honda CRF250 can keep up with the kind of ride you guys do from the group "Adventure Riders of Austin" or should just get an ADV. Thank you in advance.
Yes, we don’t do a lot of high speed highways
