Ahhh sweet memories of my babies at that age. Being a busy mom and a hands on dad, you make my memories all come rushing back. Believe it or not, these ARE the best good ole days.... cherish them and take lots of pics and video's to remember them by. Nice work on the tiles by the way
The kiddies are growing so quickly, and are so precious! Wonderful job, Amy! I giggled at how enthusiastic you were explaining to Marc what you needed. He just agreed, but did not seem to be equally engaged😉😂 your final product will look amazing👍🏻🤗
Goodness!! Your home❤ That sweet child❤ And the tile ambitions❤ ❤❤❤❤❤ Blessings Thank you for taking the time to document! I raised 7 children and was always involved in projects, all occurring before you tube was a thing. So fun to share your journey😊
Clement and Juliette are growing so quickly! You've obviously been doing quite a bit of work around the chateau and coach house that we haven't seen before. It is looking like a welcoming and liveable home. How fortunate are your kids to grow up surrounded by history, plants, animals, and places to explore. It must be spring there with new life all around them. Hoping you are all well and recovering from the winter crud that kept you down for so long. ❤
Amy, it's very inspiring to see you put in all of this time in creating bespoke tiles, when most people would simply buy what's at the local DIY store or tile shop.
Amy, you are very talented. I got lost on several turns, but see the results are grand and it will be beautiful. Your children are learning all kinds of things just by being exposed to your projects. Love the way Clement readily agrees that it is very beautiful. What a little sweetheart. You're patient, thorough, and stay with it. Lovely...
You don’t give up, Amy I admire your push, I remember watching you when you started from scratch and now you are going to do it. Keep blogging your process. Inspired by you I got thin cement sheet and cut out squares painted in acrylic and glazed them, nothing near your ones but it gives me pleasure every time I look at them.
Smart! Maybe a duplicate of each of the tiles with a special shape, and a few of the simple ones? Also, foolish question perhaps but, can't the allowance for grout be variable, so as to take up some of the slack from unknown shrinkage?
I love seeing Juliette at the beginning of the video. She’s just adorable and getting so big! Well done on the running Amy! I really enjoyed learning more about the tiles. It was also fun watching you make them. You are both so talented! Love from Vermont
Oh, How to renovate a chateau, without killing your partner is explaining how to create a wallpaper scheme, and giving decorating tips. She’s very clever. Amy you might use some of her ideas for your tile creations. I think dental instruments could be helpful to create your designs. The drugstores carry them near toothpaste.
Amy, your running is obviously paying off as it looks like you’ve lost weight. You were never in need of losing weight but I’m sure you’ll find you will have extra energy…just don’t lose too much. We like you just as you are. I love your content. You and mark make a great team. Watching from PA, USA.
I had no idea the process of making tiles... geez Louise! I could never ever attempt to do this... so, I'm glad I can make tiles by watching you do it, Amy....I'm gonna stick with painting and wallpapering.
Another beautiful creation! Love the determination you have, and patience with the children. It's already such a beautiful home, and just gets more fun to watch your progress! I always smile at your 'splashback',,as in USA We call it a backsplash😊
Out of all the chateau restoration channels, I love your intro the most. Very original! Not surprise at all that you would design and make your own tiles. Again... Very original!!
Good for you!! I always seem to sprain an ankle in the first 3 minutes of running 😥 I love your determination and skill in laying the planning and foundation for your tiles. You rock girl!!!! Save the other tile drawing for a different project...sure one will come up. Juliette is just precious! Clement looks like Mommy, and Juliette looks like Daddy! So sweet.
Amy, it helps to make a cottle that can be disassembled with at least a 5cm border all around and 5cm plus the depth of the tile. I use vaseline to coat the cottle for an easy release of the mold and use plasticine clay (reusable) or your clay (that you then throw away after making the mold) to seal the seams of the cottle and the bottom non-stick base you place it upon. Coat the bottom of the nonstick board your cottle sits upon with dish soap just before placing your tile in it. Center your tile. The wet dish soap will help to grab the tile so it doesn't move around while you pour the plaster mold. Be sure to use Potter's plaster and not Plaster of Paris or your molds will fail as they aren't strong and hard enough. When you make the tiles, the mold will draw the water from the wet clay slab you mold into and shrink it enough for it to easily drop out of the mold. Make sure you get all the plaster off the tiles before firing them. I have 2.5cm x 10cm x 46cm boards that I attach a 2.5cm x 10cm x 10cm board at a right angle to at one end. They can easily be clamped together with the short board of one to the long board of another to create the cottle to the size you need for your tile and are reusable repeatedly. For the base, I use a piece of laminated wood shelving. Don't use strand board as the water will blow its glue and it will expand. A good way to mix the plaster & judge how much to add is to start with the water and add plaster to it slowly. The water will hydrate the plaster and cause it to sink. When the plaster forms an island that doesn't quickly absorb into the water, stop adding plaster and gently stir the batch so as not to create bubbles trapped in the plaster. Gently pour the plaster not directly onto your tile, but along the side of it. That will also help keep the tile from moving around. Happy tile making!
I enjoy watching Amy working on the tiles. Amy’s engraving is beautiful. I can’t wait to see the finished product. I know it’s gonna take a while because it’s very time consuming process. Thank you for all your hard work.
Brilliant Vlog! Love your running routine......glad you are feeling better! You are doing a great job of being mom, wife and tile maker! The snow during your run was beautiful! Good on you! The tiles are looking great! Clement's new tractor is perfect for him....and another workout for you! Lovely music and the carriage house apartment is really coming along! Cheers!
The children are both adorable! How talented you are, Amy at attempting new skills and producing these lovely works! Thank you for sharing the steps taken as you move forward. ❤
Mold release agent is also known as mold soap in the USA. Any liquid soap thinned 1/2 &1/2 with water will do. Brush a thin coat on the plaster after plaster it has cured for at least a week.
You truly are amazing Amy! So much work and your bathroom will look fabulous. Your little ones have really grown. They are beautiful children! Thanks for sharing.
Amy, thanks for sharing your talent. I look forward to the finished backslash. Julliete and Clement are adorable. Clement looks like Mark and has Mark's manerisms. Pepper is a good girl watching you work.
Great to see how you are doing with your tiles....very admirable Amy and love the pattern!! Such a joy to see Clement and Juliette....they are just too cute!! Thank you for a great vlog!
Fascinating to watch the whole process. I can now see why handmade tiles are so expensive. I'd never have the patience to do this myself. By the way, had to mention you are looking so svelte these days, whatever you're doing is working.
Looks like things are coming along nicely. Its been so long since we saw the children, Clement has grown so much. Cool tractor toy Marc found at the rubbish dump for him. Little Juliette was sure having fun exploring all the hiding spots, lol. Pepper was a good jogging companion. Music choice was cheerful and retro feeling. Keep up the good work. You sharing your family life is a delightful escape from the craziness of the times. Best wishes on the tiles. That is a ton of work.
Amy, you are so dedicated to mastering tile making. They are going to be very beautiful in your new bathroom. Keep it up and you will be an expert. Can’t wait to follow along as you make the tiles. xx
So much work Amy! They look beautiful! Best wishes they all turn out perfectly. You are a trooper and so tenacious in getting everything just right. I admire that so much.
I find it so interesting watching you make tiles Amy, your design will be beautiful. The children are growing so quickly and are a delight to see. Thank you 💕🇦🇺
Well done Amy they will be amazing, I love your design. I also commend you for being a good Mom, because I know how hard it can be to get things done for yourself while balancing the need of your children. I am getting excited to see the tiles in place soon.
Totally loving your new vlogs. Thank you Marc and Amy. Its refreshing to see a nice DIY program without all the glitz and carry on from other chateau vlogs. You have a beautiful family and its such a joy to watch your children grow up. I have been following you since day 1. Keep up the great work, you are doing a wonderful job ❤ xx
How interesting the process for the making of the tiles. Your engraving is a lovely piece of work Amy, can not wait on the progress of them. Clement is growing very quickly . Loved watching😘😘
The tile making process you used was very interesting, Amy. Thanks for sharing your project with us. The tiles will be gorgeous and you will know that you made them yourself whenever you look at them 🎉😊
I worked with tiles for many years. You can make your tiles larger than you need. Bisk fier them then refier them as IF you glazed them, then cut the tile to size, fit them to make sure it looks like you want, then glaze and fier. The shrink will be minimal. You can use a band saw it sanders to get the shape you need. Disk grinder is great as well. Wishing you all the best. Big Bear Hugs from Arizona.
I really laughed when you said “ It’s on the wonk” and it was all tilted. Buuuuut… I have to say the feeling it gave me when I saw how beautiful a mold it was, is that I wanted to make molds of everything! It looked like a pro. To me even the wonkness adds to it’s genius and so full of love. Its a stunner. Thank you Beautiful videos btw… the editor/filmer is doing a great job. We get to see so much more and also some of the gorgeous shots…Amy really shows the intelligent beautiful heartfelt design of this home. The few things you have chosen from what you can find. Stunning, I can really see ahead. I think you guys are quite brilliant and talented. We like hearing your heart and testimony on things so thank you. Thank you again Much love to you all Traci Portland, Oregon
Thanks so much for sharing all the information on making your tiles. They are going to be so pretty and perfect for your bathroom. The children have grown a lot and so precious! Janice from Arkansas USA
Wow that’s a lot more work than I thought it would be! Making tiles is fun to watch you do, but I’m not going to start doing it myself 😄 Looking forward to see the end results 😊
Don't want to throw in a spanner, but how about echoing[paralleling] the bottom edge in the edge that then rises slightly above the panel rail? Keep the square motif between? The squiggly edges slightly (
Also. Just for fun & future projects: adding pigments (glazes) to dye the body of the tile deserves some experimentation as long as you're going to fire up the kiln. It might be fun so see what happens.

So much work goes into tile making. I had no idea! The sense of accomplishment at the finished product must be rewarding. Beautiful tiles
Amy, it's very inspiring to see you put in all of this time in creating bespoke tiles, when most people would simply buy what's at the local DIY store or tile shop.
Juliette is SO ADORABLE!!!! I would take a half dozen of her! How precious!!! And her big brother is growing so fast!!! 🥰
Amy, you are very talented. I got lost on several turns, but see the results are grand and it will be beautiful. Your children are learning all kinds of things just by being exposed to your projects. Great job Amy. You are so patient. Make a few extra in case you get some air bubbles during firing. It is going to look amazing.

Oo nice idea. It’s too late on this one but we have the same sink in another bathroom where I haven’t done the designs yet.
Great video Amy. ❤
BEST WISHES TO YOU
Very impressive Amy, you are so talented 😃
Absolutely great video
Your videos are so interesting and informative x
Awesome video… Thank-you! 🌸
Also. Just for fun & future projects: adding pigments (glazes) to dye the body of the tile deserves some experimentation as long as you're going to fire up the kiln. It might be fun so see what happens.
Definitely on my list. You’re right I could do some tests when I fire this lot. I don’t have a lot of pigments at the moment but might order some.
Your experiments can be with measured glaze worked into a small amount & flattened into thin sample disks with formulae scratched in the surface.
I feel like you and I would have a fun day with micro scales and charts and sample discs and notepads.
Yes! Time difference would be no problem. i'm old & might be awake all night anyway. Tons of fun.
Anytime, Amy, as long as you don't mind me old-woman-flirting with Mark given the chance (smart farmers-plus are my jam :D ).
I use the NHS Couch to 5K too! Here in California. Love the video.
Your camera picture is so clear! Did you upgrade? Looks great
