S.A was a very divided country racially by law. Many communties barely interacted with each other. It is only starting to happen now. Mindsets are going to take many generations to change.The damge, psychologically and socially has been stark. The majority of South African are warm, deep and kind. The whole industrialized world that respects and nurtures the values that are behind industry: education, knowledge, applied science, a work ethic, organization and self-discipline. Vision and focus. Pride in one's work, and even some modicum of respect for authority. The industrialized world isn't about materialism (a cop out for not doing anything), it's about creation. Race is just about origins anyway. Most people in many places are mixed, even in Europe there's Asian blood and Asian heritage for example in Hungary. It's always about culture and about different situations because of racism, whether in America, Europe or South Africa.

As an African-American, my father told me 50 years ago he would disown me if I married a white women. @DcTrini Your wrong about blacks in DC. My family lived in downtown DC in the 50's but fled because of black crime. For reasons unknown DC decided to literally bus blacks up from the south - even though there were no jobs for them in DC - it is strange. Anyways, have you read the autobiography of Malcolm X? You'll notice that even he was afraid to go to DC back in the 50's - and he was from Harlem and Boston.
