    Rotary engines are the best. I had a Mazda RX 2 in South Africa Pretoria in the early 70 s . That car was great.

    Rotary engines do not have a camshaft. That's the crankshaft in the middle of the rotors. Rotaries use ports like the little 2 cycle engines do, another example is the Fairbanks Morse opposed piston engine used in many of the WW2 U.S. submarines, they used ports that were covered/uncovered by the pistons.
