Hi everyone!
I hope you enjoyed this compilation! Getting towards the end of the year now!!
I just want to bring some attention to the clip at 09:50. Now in no way am I condoning anything by the cyclist or the submitter here nor am I blaming either, however, take a look at this video by Tom Scott and tell me what you think:
czcams.com/video/SYeeTvitvFU/video.html
Now this is not me giving an excuse to the submitter or cyclist on who’s right or who’s wrong but rather a case of the hidden cyclist and the danger of blind spots! Remember, the dashcam looks further in the car then the position of the driver and their eyesight. Might be worth thinking about it before blaming either party.
However, one thing to take away from this is that we should all take our time on the roads and get to our end point safe and sound.
Let me know what you think. Once again, not making an excuse nor condoning any action by either party. Just want to spark some discussion!
Have a great week, drive safe.
Best Regards
U.K. Dash Cameras
Edit: the submitter is not myself.
It’s useful to watch and learn from these videos.
Taking into consideration some truly appalling driving behaviour and etiquette, often the camera car makes the situation far worse then it needed to be.
The driving experience should be calm, reducing risk, having the foresight to read the road. Everyone will encounter the “idiot” driver, more often than not you’ll see them coming, so be aware, don’t antagonise the situation and let them go.
Point being the roads are for everyone’s use, so take a moment and keep everyone safe.
There is a clear STOP sign there which you are meant to adhere by regardless of traffic and even when slowing down, the pillar becomes null and void. Drivers know they are coming to a STOP sign but choose to ignore it and don’t go above and beyond to make sure nothing else is coming. The cyclist doesn’t have to do anything as he has right of way. I put it down to the fact that it is poor driving and maybe refresher tests need to be done every 10 years to show competence of knowing how to drive. I now wait for everyone to start bellowing at me regardless of what is right and wrong
Ouch! Hope the cyclist is alright? Love how you put these educational clips in to the compilation now and again! ;-)
Definitely the driver's fault. If the cyclist hadn't slammed on - he'd have been on the bonnet.
The driver would have a far wider field of view than the dash cam - that cyclist was probably only doing 15mph tops so it's not like he could come out of nowhere.
And if your view is blocked by the pillars - them move your head.
That right there is one of the fairest comments I’ve ever seen.
3:45 Props to this guy for being one of the very few dashcamming motorcyclists I've seen who's reacted calmly and proportionately to an incident. No horn blaring, no shouting, and an amicable resolution. Great to see!
Ikr. The roads would be so much better if everyone acted the same way
Well i mean that's not surprising considering most people don't react calmly to near death expirencess
The driver lowering the window down to apologise helped too.
@@darknerior many of these aren't near death, they're near bumper damage at best
I agree totally. Stay calm and carry on..quite literally.
The amount of people that drive towards a clear developing danger is staggering.
Agreed.
Always strikes me, too. Rule 1 of defensive driving for me is 'be aware of the issue and don't just blindly drive into it!'. I think some plough-on to 'prove a point', others just won't give any ground if they're in the right. The rest don't even have their brains in gear...
I'm the same doesn't matter what it is crossing, roundabout etc, slow down foot is off the acceleration pedal and over the brake just in case. You never know if that person not indicating is going to go your direction
My sentiments exactly. All they doing is showcasing thier bad driving.
Any wonder how they actually get a license. Must get them out of a cereal box, or have totally fluked the hazard perception test.

@@kittyhawk9707 Yeah, you've just watched an entire video of drivers acting recklessly but... those bloody cyclists eh? What a menace!
In reference to my clip, the cyclist was in my A-pillar when looking left which I why I suspected it was clear to cross. I did stop and help the cyclist, gave details and we have gone through the correct channels. He was okay just shaken up as to be expected, as was I. Posted the video to show how easy some mistakes are. Summed up, genuine mistake and all dealt with.
Fair play to you, it's refreshing to read somebody not trying to make excuses for thier mistake.
We all make mistake. But it's only the brave who are willing to share them.
Good for you 'fessing up, we all make mistakes but only some are big enough to admit it. So glad the cyclist was ok. My mate's dad was cycling delivering Christmas cards on Christmas Eve, he was found unconscious in the road. The family spent Christmas day with him saying goodbye and life support was switched off on Boxing day.
Fair play for admitting it but please learn from that. The way you approached the junction suggests you weren't planning on stopping unless you really had to - that's a poor attitude and if you'd have just aproached the junction with a bit more caution, or thought, you would have seen that cyclist as he wouldn't have been constantly in your blind spot as yojr speed would vary whereas his wasn't.
Could have killed him.
Haven't seen the clip yet but it seems you don't know how to cope with blind spots. Many incidents in these videos down to people not looking sufficiently well.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how good the sky looks at 9:39😍
I’ve got to try this “just jam it in reverse and go”. It looks liberating.
I think it is liberating but it’s short lived when someone is right behind you.
Wayne he was clearly signaling you need to wake up
And then Wayne then pulls up on the Zig Zag lines to obviously go and tell the other driver what he thought of the manoeuvre. Twit
I’m curious about WTF he is listening to on the radio
Wayne also seems to have forgot that you are NOT supposed to overtake on Zig Zags

@@georgedowns4034 obviously they indicated late and positioned poorly.
And clearly the Mercedes is also at fault.
But the indication came sufficiently before Wayne had commited to the overtake even if later than it should have.
@@adventpc3 well yeh I would say Wayne should be more patient but maybe he hoped the guy would stay or he was focusing ahead- still wrong tho i guess
Good points, adventpc3. Plus if you see somebody who appears to be stopping at a place where stopping is illegal and anyway pointless, you're first thought should be "what else might they be doing?" rather than "I'll just zoom past with my brain in neutral".
The other thing is he's on the zig zags for a zebra crossing - he shouldn't be overtaking there unless the other car has completely stopped/pulled over - which it shouldn't on the zig zags, but he goes to overtake without a moment's thought (did he indicate to overtake? I didn't hear him indicate...) to the degree that he's level with the back of the car in front by the time they indicate.
9:54 Gaulston - I'm presuming they sent that in because _they_ caused the cyclist to do that and they accept full blame, right?

8:07 - Retro Boy, 57 mph on an approach to a rural, limited visibility crossroads in the rain? And was that a child in the car or just you gurgling? But hey, got that on dashcam.
They even put "SLOW" on the road in case you're unfamiliar with the danger...having said that he did react in time but far closer than it needed to be.
Was looking for that comment. My thoughts exactly. Those guys posts their videos like " Hey look at that moron right " and don't understand that they are the one at fault.
I guess none of you understand what a give way line means. Also, it’s not like it’s blind junction, could clearly see the black SUV meaning the driver in that black SUV could clearly see him coming.
But hey, let’s blame the victim dont you.
@@roadbiker8333 you are right there is indeed a give way line I saw it too. But honestly did it never happend to you to check twice if there was no one and as soon as you start turning someone arrives far too quick. I'm not from england but have read quite a lot of complain about the speed limit on country road that are too narrow and with too many blind turn for a speed limit of 60 mph.
@@raphaeltiquet5705 that car driver didnt check twice, didnt even stop at the give way line where they could clearly see it all the way down the road. From where the black mini was, there was no limited vision towards the right. Maybe on he left. Which is the most important point in deciding who’s fault here. Since there was no limit of vision, then it’s 100% on the black mini.

Definite contender, however I prefer COTW lol
Also Frimley Frog
I think you have missed the point here , clearly dave is driving a wagon , probably class 1 (42 tonne) , he can't just tap the brakes and remove 15mph off his speed . You can see the wagon in front is braking so the little gap between the two trucks is his space not the van drivers .

Exactly what I was thinking. Clearly the cammers fault
You are probably spot on about the A pillar actually, since the position kinda checks out given the cars acceleration :/
I was thinking obscured view , some cars have big A pillars
Cammer at fault, but should he be cycling on a busy road if his first instinct is to grab the front brake?
@@RUBBER_BULLET You don't know how his brakes were, perhaps he slipped off rear brake, perhaps it wasn't as well setup as front etc - in a panic seeing you're about to hit a car, the instinct is to brake full stop, not to think about balancing the two
In that last clip, I do hope the cammer did not try to absolve himself of responsibility for the cyclist's misfortune. Clearly, the cyclist (In hi-viz!) was on the major road, cammer should have yielded, failed to do so, and forced cyclist into evasive action. Unluckily, front brake locked and pitched cyclist off. The whole thing is down to cammer's lack of due care and attention. Disgraceful!
Thanks for the run down on what happened, was difficult to tell by actually watching it
I hope OP did not try to absolve himself of responsibility for recognising that the cammer _obviously_ knew they were at fault, and were merely uploading the clip to share their mistake that doesn't really warrant any "disgraceful! 😡" comments like all the bored full time mummies constantly post on Facebook community groups

I came here to comment about Dave W but looks like we’re already all set.
@BonusChaser ! Not sure you are looking at the same clip? The van came down the second lane indicating to go into lane 1, the gap was small and it is very easy to see the van driver made a mistake. What didn't help was Dave accelerating to close the gap, making a bad a situation worse and one that could have ended very badly.
@BonusChaser ! he literally just had to ease off the gas pedal
@BonusChaser ! Are you ok? Do you need a hug?
@BonusChaser ! Are you Dave? Because Dave sped up and caused that collision.

Honesly, some people should never be allowed a driving licence.
Do most people forget that observations are a key part of their driving once they get their driving licence? Honestly!
The driving standards have slipped a lot since I learnt back in the 80s/90s. My eldest drives in a way I would never think of, yet he says that is how he was taught. He int the only one, plenty at work are the same.

@@Glamrockqueen agreed, I learnt to ride a motorbike in the late 80s and had a few car lessons. Passed bike in 89 and needed transport for my job as was late shifts. I did it for my test then reverted to using my engine to brake like I would on a bike.

One thing that watching years of dashcam video's has taught me is that the person who starts their video with a big write up of the events they want the audience to know of, is 95% of the time in the wrong and not telling the full story. They are the ones that brake check, cut off and side swipe other people but only upload the part of the video where the other person goes off their rocker in order to make themselves look like the victim. What i would like to see is 2 minutes of video before hand to see what this driver did to piss off the guy on the bike. I bet it involved a brake check or 2.

@@germanwheels6071 Your initial answer tells me you didn‘t bother to do some research before writing. Look up the rules for overtaking (not turning, which does not apply here) again, and bring a valid point / rule that contradicts me. In the meantime there is no way I would take you seriously. Why should I? Arguments are not „won“ (your words) without facts.
Before you read the whole highway code however know that I could care less whether you are persuaded or not. 🤷♂️
@@germanwheels6071 No quote, no rule, no paragraph, no facts - as I expected.
There is no such thing as committed. The Merc was not indicating to the left to make a stop, nor did it stop, nor was there an assigned spot. It gave no reasonable clue why it should should want to stop there. It merely used the width of the one available lane. You can‘t assume a car is going to stop just by it’s position in the lane and, at the same time, argument the indicator to the right was not enough to assume anything else.
Your dashcam name wouldn‘t be Wayne, would it? At least You‘re telling me that You‘d act in the same irresponsible way.
*Nice video.*
Some lush cars on this week!!!!
4:48 was that a Bugatti?!
And people wonder why their insurance goes up when they were involved in a non-fault accident. Even though a lot of these the cammer is not technically at fault, they drive so irresponsibly and put themselves in more danger than is necessary for the sake of "being right". Just back off and leave room for people and you are less likely to have an incident. Simple.
7:28 how calmly this guy says "idiot" makes my day
5:07 love the sound of recordings being saved
Wayne @ 9:00 the car was indicating right, so why try to overtake it?
Have to agree 100%, you wouldn’t do it if he was turning down a road so what’s the difference?
I'd agree if the driver was indicating before turning.
Indicating or not, it is absolutely forbidden to overtake in a zig-zag zone.
@@Captainllama I don’t think their intention was to overtake. With the lack of indicating it looks like the car in front is pulling over and stopping. I’m not saying the guy couldn’t have left more space but I’m not gonna judge him too hard for it.
@@jackjwatts Oh come off it! Watch the clip again. Whatever Wayne may have construed as his intentions, he was not stopped and Wayne was passing not waiting.
8:04 there's a reason why "SLOW" is painted on the road. A bit cryptic, I know.
Are you going to blame the cyclist as well? don't be a hypocrite.
The junction was clear enough. If the mini stopped at the give way line, they would have seen retro boy coming at normal country road speed.
But dont drive slow if you dont want to. Other drivers can just obviously see if you prefer to go fast.
@@anderstermansen130 it’s easy. Dont drive if you struggle to determine speed.
@@anderstermansen130 no, the smart thing is to drive at the right speed for the conditions. Speeding towards a concealed bend is stupid.
And they paint slow on the road at places where there's been an accent. Food for thought.
🎶 Sunday, Sunday,
Looks good to meeee. 🎶
Almost thought we made it through a whole video without any noticable donut cam cars, but nope you threw in Gaulson at the very end! cheeky devil.
Gaulson? Really, I'm not a fan of cyclists but this was just so wrong.
I’m hoping they at least stopped to make sure he was okay after being so blind as to not see the MAMIL coming along in high vis. 🙄
If you're just not looking, all the high vis in the world isn't going to make any difference.
Ever wonder why a lot of cyclists don't have a front brake? 🤣
I have my bike's front brake adjusted so it can't lock up but will come close. Simple twist of the adjuster nut on the lever. Rear brake can lock up no problem
Personally I thought it was hilarious
What was the Police response to the video at 6:00 ?
What do you expect? Nothing ...
I'd like to know to if he included it in the submission.
"We take your call seriously and will investigate your evidence thoroughly, then report back to you" - then the sound of chuckling before the cops hang up...
@@davidhunt240 Should have told them he shouted a transphobic slur at you and he'd have armed police busting through his door within the hour.
2:11 never knew their was a place called Bunny 😂😂
*there
4:46 Ahh yes, just a casual Veyron out for a drive 😂
Must have a bad case of torque-steer 😵
0:48 Limmy is that you?!
Essex dashcam, you should of flattened his bike, there was you and your boyfriend against one chav, why didn't you at least stop and call him out.
mhhhhmmmmm and fork out thousands of ££ in damages for the sake of an idiot... Makes total sense
@@El-Tel63-Terry. Do you really think looking at his behaviour that it would be the wisest thing to get out of the vehicle? Pretty sure a bell end like this is going to be carrying something on him. When you get into this situation you see how well you do but all I'd say is people get stabbed a lot in this Country, a lot of the time for little to no reason, so sometimes it's better to keep your life, but you do you and I'll do me. Or should I say my boyfriend will do me. You do know just because you hear 2 male voices doesn't mean they're boyfriends? Usually unprovoked homophobia comes from not wanting to un-closet your own demons. Or maybe you're just trying to be a bell end which based on the last 2 comments is coming across. So with that said you do you honey-pie, get out of your vehicle and get stabbed or be an acid attack victim and then big bad Terry can show us all what an absolute Tank of a man-mountain-monster Hercules-Unit of a beefcake Gangster he is. 9:33 - stunning view, looks like a game!
I get excited if I see a clip of an area I know well
Everyone’s saying Michelle Ws clip is “caused” due to lane hoggers. There’s no way you can conclude that from this clip. For a start the car in lane two is legitimately passing the car in lane one. For all we know, lane 3 is doing one of those 80mph to 75mph just a bit faster passes. Then all three drivers catch the movement in the mirror, it’s an idiot barrelling up behind them. The speeding car has seen the driver in lane three, they could have monstered them out the way and it probably would have worked. But no they’ve gone straight for the dangerous undertake. Seeing this reckless action everyone’s eased off a bit and not added to the situation by changing lanes. Ones he’s undertaken his way by everyone’s sorted themselves out.
Plus even if they were all lane hogging that doesn't excuse that kind of driving. Being annoyed doesn't give you an excuse to drive dangerously.
2:31 Dave W: what are you doing? Yes the white van man is in the wrong, but surely slowing down a tad and avoiding an accident would be in your best interests?
He didn't want to let him in (increased his speed by 2mph)

the essex police response supposed to be at the end of the clip:
9:33 what a beautiful sunrise
Agreed! ❤️
Someone should tell Jordan P not to block the junction
But how else could he have stopped the car on the left from coming out? 😂😂😂
J Merrett seems pretty chilled for a biker who's just had a car pull out in front of him. Is it because there's a pretty laydee in the Audi? :p
Is she on her phone, or just holding her ear?
thing is mate after 32 years of riding, I had to stop last year due to major surgery, You get so used to it that it's expected. But then when I taught in the 90s, my biggest advice to learner bikers was to assume that all other road users are idiots that don't where they're going or what they're doing and are blind to anything and everything else on the road.
2:39. That’s on Mill St near me in Redhill. I’ve had the odd car cut across me like that, albeit when I was farther away.
The turn on the left is a nasty one to turn out of; cars coming out from it generally have to shove part of their car into the road to see because of a bank on their right, elder drivers struggle to turn their heads to see, forcing them to use their mirrors and hope, and the road to their right dips away immediately, making oncoming cars appear smaller and farther away.
4:23 Well thats someone's renewal price skyrocketing 😅
"all the gear, no idea" comes to mind...
Tonight on Collisions that could quite easily have been avoided.
2:20 Dave W, yes that van driver was forcing his way in but that accident was entirely avoidable. You crashed into him on purpose rather than pulling back. I hope your insurer finds you at fault there.
4:20 the Bentley got bent! 😥
Ahh the weekly dose of proper helmets.
