The main reason I will miss splash mountain is that it was one of the last rides I rode with a friend before he passed away from cancer.
What an amazing memory. â€
thatâs something you cherish forever man. what a great memory im sorry for your lossđđŒđđŒđđŒ
I will miss splash mountain because that was the last ride I rode with my girlfriend before she told me she was pregnant and was going to get an abortion. What a amazing memory that wasđ
Hang onto those fun memories â€
Lame
Splash was the first attraction I worked on way back when as a new Imagineer. We programmed all the animatronics between October and Christmas of 1988 with about two days off total, one of them being Thanksgiving. We were working long hours in essentially a big rock sculpture with water flowing thru it, in the winter. Everyone at some point caught pneumonia. Just another day at the office at Imagineering!
It opened on July 17, 1989. It was originally scheduled to open In the Fall of 1988, but the ride system wouldnât cooperate. The brakes didnât stop the logs and would instead tip them up causing water to come into the logs from the back, sinking them. The logs and the brakes had to be completely redesigned. They had to scrap the entire original âfleetâ!. So...eight months later, the ride worked and the attraction finally opened. The rest is history.
A big Thank You to all the guests for making it one of the most beloved attractions ever. The Tiana attraction will be great but weâll always keep a special place in our âDisneyland memoriesâ for Splash Mt.
Wow!!! Thank you so much for sharing your story.
Amazing work you guys did! Nothing like it since, and so sad to c it go! đą
Thank you for creating this ride for many memories! Iâm sure that Tianaâs Bayou Adventure will have even more memories for the kids! Although it may not be the same it will hold a special place in our hearts.
Tiana's whatever won't hold a candle to splash mountain. It will be just another candy coated overly tame ride with no dark side to it. Will be fun once or twice for adults and younger kids will probably enjoy for more. Splash mountain was basically cherished by everyone all age groups and will live in our hearts forever . When Tiana's eventually shuts down , it won't get the fanfare that splash did that's for damn sure .
ââ@@judebarnes9209Yeah,
I will never understand how they gotta destroy Walt's work like that.
Although I love Tiana to death, I have to admit that I kinda hate that they chose ' The princess and the frog ' for the retheme.
Tiana's story is so bland compared to the other princesses, it just doesn't feel like a fairytale. The whole thing with the restaurant takes from the fairytale it's supposed to be.
That's at least what I noticed when I read all of my Disney Princess Little Golden Books.
Tiana's Definitely won't do what Splash has done, but it'll do something.
Hey Fresh Baked!! I was the last guest log!! As a CM back in 1989 I was able to âlog testerâ before it opened and Iâm so excited that I was on the last log đ„șđ„ș
So happy for you
For those asking why we get emotional Because, it's the first real cornerstone ride to be closed/rethemed in recent memory (not including fireworks, stage shows and parades). The most recent one I would argue would be Submarine Voyage in 1998 became the Nemo Subs, and "Tarzans tree house" which isn't so much a ride. Disney for a lot of people have these rides and memories in our bones. We can be emotional saying goodbye to an attraction, and still be exited for the retheme. Some of us, like myself, are nervous that the attraction will lose the animatronics and switch to more screen based rides. Not to knock runaway railway, but there is something special about the animatronics and immersion that these amazing sets create. It's also a little sad if you're a Disney history buff and know those animatronics were repurposed from America Sings and know those animatronics have been in the park since 1974. It's goodbye to one of the big four.
Excellent take, very much agree.
I mean if youâre only counting Magic Kingdom then yeah this is the first big cornerstone attraction to close in a long while. But DCA had Tower of Terror replaced by Guardians.
Nicely saidâŠI feel the same â€
â@@dustyfedora Tower of Terror didn't even have a 13 year run and it's in DCA which has always been a work in progress. Country Bear Jamboree went away in the early 2000s and we lost Skyway and the People Mover within a couple years of each other in the mid '90s. I'd argue those were all harder hits though because they left to never return.
Thank you. I didn't know how to verbalize it. This is exactly it. I was 13 when Splash opened. I loved following the story on the walls in line and singing zip a dee dah.
this just isn't fair. this was a ride from my childhood and now that it's no longer going to be there. looking at that will never be the same again. they made a big mistake doing this. thank you so much splash mountain for all those wonderful childhood memories just getting soaked if I was sitting in the front. listening to that song zippidy doo dah will never be the same again for me. đąđ
David youâre like a character now, entire families get excited when they see you. đ
Almost like Goofy
I totally would lose it if I saw him in the park. Iâd probably follow him around for a picture . Total FreshBaked fan.
Photos pass with David seems like a fun idea.
@@zzz6valvoline That would be fun! David seems like such a nice guy and fun to be around. He certainly is a wonderful vlogger.

Splash Mountain was a perfectly designed attraction.
Youâre a fan of log rides? Us, too. Weâre excited to see the amazing things that imagineering creates!
And nothing will change except for theme
@@WindowtotheMagic đ€·But the Log Ride element will remain with Tiana's BayouđŻ
@@patrickhausenfleck9045 Exactly my point, yes. Iâm excited for the new theming. It will be interesting to see what WDI creates!
@@WindowtotheMagic The Only thing that I'm hoping is that Brer Bear/Fox and Rabbit can find a way to Exist in their own Right as "Fool-ee & the Fools"....They need their own personal attraction.
As I was leaving, I saw Tony Baxter walking out down Main Street and he stopped to sign a few splash mountain stickers for some park guests⊠just awesome!!!
That line is insane. Shows how much the ride was loved.
It will be missed! Splash Mountain didnât need to changeâŠ
IS loved.
@@Scooopity I wholeheartedly agree with you.
why are they re-thememing the ride?
@@capsortee based on song of the south which is racist.. please mind i am just parroting what ive heard, but even on disneyâs docu series on disney plus they call the rides theming âproblematicâ

Rip splash mountain 1989-2023
Long live Tiana's Bayou Adventure! đ
@@Ceelle2 and wokeism because thatâs what decided the fate of one of the best flume rides ever.
â@drakejdf don't argue with them! You should be excited about the TV screens they're installing!
Iâll never forget that splash mountain water smell after you go up the first hill and see a log go down the main drop. Hated this ride as a kid, will always be my favorite now as an adult. It was always a tradition of my brother and I to go on it as much as we possibly could whenever the park was about to close lol. Gonna miss it
The theme of Splash Mountain makes it a great ride. There is absolutely no reason to change it....
The theme is based on Songs of the South, which perpetuates racial stereotypes and glamorizes the post civil war south, which even after emancipation still relied heavily on impoverished African American labor. The intent of the film was pure I'm sure, to dissole racial boundaries a promote a better "South" of racial harmony... but history has clearly betrayed that original intent ie: racist Jim Crow laws, KKK's, civil rights abuses, and today's still unresolved systemic racism/discrimination. For Disney to have themed Splash on Songs of the South in 1989 does show their tone deafness and lack of historical wisdom and foresight as to how it could be negatively perceived. Disney's just adapting to a changing, complex world, and being sensitive to fundamental social issues, to not be party to perpetuating false, harmful narratives. This is a good thing. It will be an even better, more exuberant ride.
@@Facilitate.Inform with all due respectâŠthe majority disagree with you.
â@@tfperry21 that's fine, majorities aren't necessarily a good measure of truth though. People had an emotional attachment to the theming I get it... I'm just helping people understand the reasons WHY Disney made this change, and why Disney has integrity and ethic to do so, however unpopular. For all the fandom for Disney few seem to stick up for its humanitarian and moral principles which underly the parks/and films, and make it so special and critical a force in our afflicted world which is only getting worse. We take it for granted.
Splash has always been my âahhhh, Iâm at Disneyland!â ride đ©”
I was standing almost in the same spot @ 5:16 watching the construction of Splash Mountain in 88.
Back in 2010 ( I was 11 at the time) my grandpa and I had annual passes and we stayed this one August night at the park until close. We went on splash mountain 6 times in a row because the park/ride was so empty. The cast members operating the ride let us stay on the log over and over and over again. I will never forget that night with my grandpa on Splash Mountain. We Will Always Love You Splash Mountain†.
By the way, thank you David for spending your entire day capturing one of the saddest days in Disneyland history. I was truly moved as were the 1000s that cheered for the ride and for Fresh Baked! every time they saw you. THAT is awesome, my friend.
Passing of an era, saying goodbye to a part of our lives when we were young, and then when we raised our families, taking the kids to Disneyland and going on Splash, dreading that last drop but coming out fine, coming around the bend with all the critters singing and cheering you on. I cried when I saw it, I got emotional and hadnât expected to. We waited in line for three hours which we never did for any other ride, enjoying being near Splash like we were waiting with an old friend. It was worth it and Iâm glad we did it. I will miss it. Thank you for being there, for waiting and for riding, very nice tribute to a great ride.
You said everything that needed to be said!!! Only someone that "understands" the true Disneyland experience can appreciate the emotion of the Splash Mountain closure...Memories of "Days Go Bye"...
I started crying as soon as they closed the doors. Thank you for the Video.
This ride always made me happy every time I rode it, especially at night right before closing! anytime, but right before the week, or the perfect start for the weekend. The music, the atmosphere
Thank you for making this video and staying late last night for all of us to see. We appreciate you FreshBaked!
Morgan, together we have wonderful memories on this ride. â€
I really miss Splash Mountain @ BOTH Disneyland, and Walt Disney World!
đ
All I can say is this: Disneyland sure knows how to make a proper grand exit. I don't have emotional attachments to the ride, but this made me emotional.
My first visit to Disneyland was in 1975 and out of all the attractions I've been on since then at Disneyland, DCA and all 4 parks at WDW, Splash Mt has always been my very favorite. I'm very sad to see it go. Ty to Tony Baxter for creating such an amazing attraction. I'm happy you got to ride one last time David.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I was there last night with my 14 year old daughter and we were quite emotional. Our wait was about 3.5 hours, we got in line around 6:30 and our drop photo was taken at 10:08. Might sound wild to wait that long, but for this we couldnât not do it. There was just something special about the atmosphere and everyone there. â€
My great grandfather worked on this ride, my dad was one of the first people to rife it with him at Disney Land.
FreshBaked. David, well thats that, all over for the time being. Your faith in the new attraction to come is inspiring but everything Disney touches at the moment across all divisons is all bad. When Splash first opened, in the very first log was Brer Bear, Fox and Rabbit. I had hopped that they'd repeat the 3 characters riding in the last log but not to be. Sometimes Disneyland management leaves a lot to be desired. Anyway David, thanks for all your time today. Cheers, Chris Perry.
The characters riding the ride would've had to been setup beforehand with them getting on the ride at the bottom of the last lift hill which would've taken too long to lock out the ride. It would be cool but everyone would have left by then.
This is basically the ride equivalent of something like Remember Dreams Come True or the Main Street Electrical Parade; it will greatly be missed and Disneyland will never be the same without it.
I went 2 weeks ago for the final time. I âsoakedâ in as much as I could during my last ride. This will always be splash mountain in my heart
rest in peace old Friend splash mountain we are going to miss you so much
I knew this video would make me cry. No one captures the FEELING of the parks in video, like you do! This was so beautifully done, edited and shot! Thank you, for taking us along and making it feel like we were there, as we all said goodbye to such a loved attraction!
Yeah, i cried. I was 7 when Splash opened. I have so many memories of that ride. Lots of summer family trips when tickets were only $25 for zipcode locals. I went many times as an adult. Haven't been back in a few years for obvious reasons, but I'd like to. I love Disneyland so much. My father died when i was 13, so i don't have many memories of him. But i do remember Disney trips with him.
I'm totally fine with new things replacing old things. It's just the natural progression of time. I'm looking forward to the new Tiana area. I'm sure it'll be fun. But that doesn't mean I won't get emotional about a childhood ride disappearing. It was so iconic.
I know kids won't understand what their parents are feeling in regards to this old ride, but they will once they're our age and they have to watch their childhood things being replaced. Hell, kids won't even know the whole story behind Briar Rabbit and the racial controversy. Which is a good thing in a way, lol.
But yeah, this ride meant the world to us Californians. I'm an older millennial, but it would mean a lot to Gen X and Boomers, too.
To all Gen Z and Alpha who frequent Disney parks: if you have a favorite ride and love it to bits, imagine it being torn down right in front of you. That's how this feels for your parents and grandparents. 34 years of this iconic ride, kids. :)
I'll miss you, Splash Mountain. You'll forever be in my memories and, obviously, live on for eternity on CZcams. đâ€ïž
The best part about being in this place is that everyone is there to have a good time
Iâm looking at Splash right now. The walls are already up with a security CM patrolling them. Surprisingly, the water is still running⊠The secret path is still open. The Twain just went by and I heard part of the new spiel. Need to go ride it to hear the whole thing.
Edit: the spiel on the Twain has changed only by Tianaâs. It finally got rid of that terrible âsplashing good time lineâ. The new lines even mentions that Tianaâs isnât quite there yet, so it will change again when the ride reopens.
Another edit: the spiel on the train has been updated as well. In fact, it uses some of the exact same lines as the Twain.
I think this is the first time that I can remember both a ride opening, and now closing at DL. Going to miss it, but change is inevitable. I don't care what they do to make it different, this will always be referred to as Splash Mountain. Years from now, long after the luster and shine of the Tiana re-skin has faded, it will still be Splash Mountain.
Hear here! đ
The big sister comforting the little sister on the first ride. So sweet ! â€
Who else cried during the closing of the gateâs! đđđ
Very sad to see it go, it was my favorite ride at Disneyland. I got to witness the construction of Splash Mountain...it will always have a special place in my heart.
We need a petition for keeping Zip a Dee do da in the parks walk around music playlists
Watching the last hour of Splash Mountain was more emotional than I expected. Splash Mountain was a big part of my childhood, it was the first roller coaster I rode and was always one of my favorite Disneyland rides. I loved being able to use Fast Passes to quickly get ahead of long stand by lines. Just a delight and it will be missed! Thanks for your coverage David.
This ride takes me all the way back to the summer 1989. I have soo many memories, been on countless dates with girlfriends, wives etc⊠Splash đŠ Mountain â°ïž was the go to to beat the summer heat. đą Im sad to see it go. Thanks for the good times Splash Mountain!
Thank you for letting me virtually ride Splash Mountain one last time!
Iâm extremely devastated that Splash Mountain is being rethemed
I was a teen living close to Disneyland when Splash Mountain opened. We were there every weekend getting soaked riding it over and over. I will miss it but I have so many fond memories of Splash. I am excited to fall in love with Tiana's Bayou too .
Good bye my fav ride. "brer rabbit and the tar baby" was my fav book as a kid
I didn't expect to get emotional while seeing them close the doors.

Fake footage. Splash Mountain will still be there for Disneyland's centennial.
â€â€â€â€ Weâll never forget ! Thanks to you and others we can watch and remember! Thank you David for loving Disneyland - it really helps all of us who miss it between visits. We went last month- that last ride on Splash brought a tear to my eye!
That young boy that saw you near the single rider line is likely how I will be if I ever run into you at Disneyland! What a sweet soul.

I had a great day yesterday at the park. Managed 3 rides on Splash and was there until the end. Thanks for your great coverage of the end of the Splash era.

It was so nice that the ride didnât break down, even with heavy, heavy, unrelenting use. Congrats to cms and imagineers.
My dad had friends who were cast members in '89. He got to go on Splash Mountain during cast previews when not even all the animatronics were installed yet. I'm going to really miss this ride as it was. The last time I was at Disneyland was 2014. đą
Farewell Splash Mountain! Thank you for all of the great memories! đą
đ The last guest (not a CM) to ride. Was cool that when we came back into the dock, they gave our boat buttons "I'm celebrating Last Rider on Splash".
Farewell Splash Mountain!!!!! đđđđđ
Splash Mountain will be missed đą
while i was in the single rides line for the last day, i met this really cool girl who came from san jose just to ride splash mountain all day and was worried that she wasted her time since the line was becoming longer and didnât think sheâd get too many more rides in. i spent some time convincing her that it was going to be fun and she was excited for her disney day and was telling me about it. i saw her in line a few more times and we would wave to each other and say hi and chat every time we passed each other in line. i wish i got her name or something, she was so much fun!
You just hit upon the Vibes that have Always made Disneyland Special....Unlike Disney World...The More Personable Overall Experience (stemming from the size of the Park) allows for the kind of sociable experience you hadđ...great fun.
Youâre experience of this is so moving đ„șđąđ„șđą
Thanks for sharing it David. đđđđđ
Actually, saddened today. Emotional day for sure. Love this ride.
I'm sad it's closed. It was my favorite for so many years. I remember in summer 2016, my daughter and I were just finishing the ride and we looked to the right, and there you guys were Fresh Baked. My daughter yelled Fresh Baked, and we chatted with you guys for a second. It was a great day!
It was cool hanging out with you. Awesome evening and a lot of emotions going.
Also the Lopez twins were with Tony Baxter. Theyâre in pictures with him
Oh awesome, David!! So glad you got to ride that last ride and take "Fancy Cam" with you! Great footage as one final homage to "Splash." I could really feel the excitement you all felt with the energy of the crowd and seeing the other vloggers around! I'm looking forward to the next adventure for this attraction. Unlike some, I'm an old-timer and grew up with "America Sings" (and still see the songs those critters sang in with your vlog!), so I never really developed an emotional attachment to Splash. Great ride, great characters, great music; hoping the new one will have great characters, new effects and great music as well. Thanks for taking us along! đ
I just hope they can keep all the hidden mickeys in there -- over 400, right? From the giant twisted vine by the steamboat to the opening of the drop cave itself to all the flowers. So amazing!
Man do many memories as a kid going on this. Family who isnt here anymore. Life was so easy and fun. That photo room has had sooo many laughs and fun times. You will be missed splash mountain.
I remember when I was in middle school, I was in line for Splash Mt. exactly where you started your queue in the standby. A girl sat on those wooden handrails and it broke sending her and the whole row of railing down with her. She was so embarrassed. Her face was red as a tomato. Cast member came over and she was not happy. Lol.
I'll miss Splash.
Omg the instrumental of "Put On Your Sunday Clothes"... If I wasn't already emotional about the last day of Splash Mountain, that would do it đą
What an emotional day it was. Was there myself. So happy I got to be present and saw how we sent Disneylandâs splash mountain off right!
That was way too emotional... I know my 10+ year castmember daughter was too. Thanks â€đ Zip Pi Dee Do Dah
So emotional. Thank you Fresh Baked and Thank You to all the Cast Members for all they did on this historic last day đ
Ah man. I love that ride. So many memories of me and my daughters on that ride enjoying the excitement, seeing their first reactions on the drop, and the smiles on their faces. Thank you so much for this. I kinda felt the reaction in the crowd as they closed the doors and watched the last few boats drop down. Til' next time, another great memorable ride in the books and we look forward to what's coming up for the future. Smiles everyone. ~ Roger
Fresh Baked! I was part of the last log! Thank you for getting the drop from the front perspective! We purposely screamed so loud after the drop cause it was so exciting ans the last drop needed to go out with some noise and in hopes it would identify that was the last one with guests! I can hear our scream after the drop and you making a comment on that. đđ€
I think David has become as recognizable as the characters,,, and probably just as popular....
Over the last couple years, I think Splash became my favorite Disneyland ride. I LOVE hearing peopleâs reactions when theyâre getting soaked; Iâve heard so many different reactions and theyâre always hilarious. Said my goodbye to the ride last week when I rode it as my last ride before midnight closing. Until the next ride âïž
The segment of you riding on the Mark Twain has convinced me that I need to start waving more often
Thank You for posting this, I really regret not riding it one more time before it closed.
I am so glad I got to ride Splash Mountain last week before the lines got too crazy! I did it as my last ride of the night, ended up in the front seat and got completely soaked! Just as it should be đ

I never thought that the last time I rode Splash Mountain last June would be the last time ever, hopefully Tiana's Adventures is gonna be as good as Splash was. I had a lot of memories from Splash Mountain. Just cant believe it's gone.
Except Splash Mountain is not gone. It's alive and well in both US parks and open right this second. There is no Tiana ever coming and nobody likes Tiana anyway. Splash Mountain will be there for Disneyland's centennial in 2055.

This was & probably always will be my all time favorite attraction. I hope to come back to this video every few years to relive fond memories of it. When i first heard Splash Mountain would be closing a couple of years ago, I planned a last minute summer trip with my wife so I could be sure to share it with her at least once. I was able to ride in front one last time & got more drenched than I ever had before. Couldnt have gone out a better way.
