Oh Schick! Is this Injector Razor the Best Shave Ever?

- The Schick injector razor type E (made from 1935-1945) has widespread availability compared to other types of Schick injector razors. I haven't spent much time exploring vintage razors, but recently a lot of people have been talking about how great they are...so here are my first impressions on the Schick injector razor from almost 90 years ago.

Do you have a favorite injector razor or favorite vintage razor?
Favorite Injector razor? No.
Favorite vintage razor? Maybe. I only tried two of them. The one that was good, not yet decide if it's a favorite, is the fat handled Gillette Tech made in USA maybe from the 1940's.
My favorite vintage Schick injector razor is probably the type I1. I have Schick type E2 to N1 and a couple of U.S. made Pal Inject-O-Matics. Very entertaining video, Greg!

Could use help man I'm eyeballing a single edge razor not double sided and a Injector Razor this is on Amazon for 22 dollars but can u use other Injector razors for this Schick like parker or feather blades
I was watching an old movie from 1947 and they had these razors at the drugstore in the movie. I didn't know they've been around that long

Parker makes great injector blades compatible with these. I use a type J and quite happy with it

That's pretty much my experience as well, accidental BBS right from the start. I don't have an E type but the G is pretty similar. Since then, I've picked up a bunch of other injectors which led to GEMs and then Artist Club razors. I thoroughly enjoyed this video, as usual. Thanks and have a great day!

You reckon the blades last more shaves?
@@GregTardif they do for me. Most de blades I toss after 2 shaves , but the injector blades last me usually 6 to 7 shaves.

@@GregTardif yeah I inherited it from my uncle it was like new in the case with Personna 74 blades. It is efficient and intuitive to use with the long handle.
Well now you have definitely convinced me to pick up an injector. Will be curious for an update if you find you are getting more shaves out of the injector blades than a DE blades. That may help offset any potential cost difference...but I'm like you...the thought of saving went out the windy years ago for me.
I’ll try to see how far I can push a blade. I’m usually the kind that typically shaves three times with a blade and tosses it
@@GregTardif Right on. I'm currently nine shaves in with a PTFE coated GEM persona blade. My go-to DE blade is Perma Sharp, which gets me four uses, other DE blades I'm also three and done.
@@GregTardif These types though are I think a bit thicker and more sturdy and should hold an edge a bit longer than three but YMMV of course.

@@GregTardif it's still in the box, super gross so I just need to find someone who could restore it, It also came with some old Gillette cases, super cool but need someone to do that dirty job because I'm definitely not cleaning that 😅😅

Great review Greg, I had no idea that all of these different types really existed 😲, and nope never had one of these myself, not my kind of a toy... and the word injector itself sounds weird to be fair, it's like turbo injector oh boy! 😉. My favourite vintage razors are the classic Gillette 195 and the Gillette red tip super speed.Many thanks for the information Greg. Take care .

I believe the injector blades are more rigid than a DE blade, hence the more rigid feel while shaving. And from what I’ve read, that also enables the blade to last longer. I’ve got 7 great shaves so far from one Schick blade in my Parker injector.

@@GregTardif Yep. The Parker uses regular injector blades. I’ve got the same kind you have, and they work great in it.

Supply which came out with a shaver that uses injector blades, Schick included has now contracted with a Japanese company that has been making blades for over 100 years. Feather? I don't know but they sure work good.

Nice! I haven't tried any SE or Injector or really anything except for DE safety razors but may venture out at some point. Fun video though you may need to be prepared for trolling by anti-vax types if you come out in favour of 'injectors' ! 😀Cheers and have a great week.

Not possible or not practical to remove the blade mid-shave to remove any accumulated hair clumps and put blade back into razor to continue the shave. I will not try any such razor. You can lecture me all you want about finding the right hydration level for the lather, but I already went through enough of this with double edge razors. I can at least take out the blade, remove the clogging & clumping hair, put blade back in and continue shaving when using double edge razor.
I haven’t encountered clogging (yet) Sounds like a pain. I have it with a few DE’s but like you said easy peasy to handle mid shave
