I had been treated 4 years for my C-PTSD, when my therapist and I found out that there was a mayor problem that lay below everything. Turned out I have Asperger's. Now so many things make sense. I couldn't have wished for a better or more caring therapist, but I think that was just mere luck. I got my diagnosis at the age of 41.
Moreover, I found out that being Aspie caused my gender dysphoria. I transitioned with having no operations, just getting hormones and had my legal name and gender change. Today I'm really happy with my life and my gender, but I can clearly see that I had a lot of luck. Could have gone very bad instead.
To me, Dr. Tony is a hero. He has done so much for us and each and every time I feel hopeless I just have to recall his friendly and caring way of talking about us and appreciating our strengths. Thank you, Dr. Tony.

After over seven decades being autistic, I clearly avidly avoid social situation, often getting the feeling that I have either offended them, said something awkward or inappropriate, annoy and cause others I care about distress and not knowing why for sure, so frustrating still! I once asked an excellent teacher, before autism became trendy, why I did not have any friends he said, "have you thought maybe that is the way you want it". And my answer now is, "that is the way I need it". Why would I not prefer to be free of anxiety and confusions? When I am alone I might feel a bit sorry for myself feeling lonely even bored but compared to a bad relationships broken marriages failed friendships endless ! misunderstandings ~~ blessed solitude is a good old friend indeed for me.

I just wanted to tell you how soothing these videos are for me. To have what I go through explained in a way that makes sense. I am seeking diagnosis.

Dr Attwood erred saying one can develop "multiple personality disorder" adjusting as a newly diagnosed aspie to being different.
It is now called "Disocciative Identity Disorder" and in fact can only develop coming out of a traumatized kidhood where the unmerged personality of a newborn fails to merge as per normal into one single personality.
The creation of DID is only possible in childhood coming out of childhood trauma / abuse.
One possible cause for Dr Attwood saying what he did, is that DID is often not realized by the physical person (the host) until a trauma of some degree has been experienced later in adult life.
    Thank you.

Meltdowns; Early detection. Early detection. Early detection. Reduce stimuli. Be calm.

Wenn transitioned late in life, she-Wenn had 4 kids and had been married, etc..., the new Wenn has had a different adventure. I find it difficult to compare a full-fledged adult with a 15 or 16 year old getting mutilated because he/she is not feeling comfortable.

I got my diagnosis at the age of 40... I wish we would have a Dr. Tony here in Sweden 🇸🇪. Fighting hard to have my daughter diagnosed/assessed she has already grown up to be 12 yrs, the school is unfortunately doing everything it can to avoid this assessment being done. :-( I wonder if other aspies has endured physical punishment during their upbringing and how they in that case do work at accepting/processing these experiences (I have PTSD from it..)
I want CBT cognitive behavioral therapy sessions but is constantly being denied that treatment. Do you happen to know any Dr’s in Sweden that would be reliable to approach? (Both for myself but also for my daughter of course).

Compassionate and Caring are not equal to maternal, by the way. Sometimes they overlap, but they are definitely the same.

I have 2 children with aspies, my daughter got diagnosed a year ago and she is just coming up to 16 and my son who is 25 just got his diagnosis also . I knew my son was different and to my awful shame I didn't want it pointed out that he was different . I feel so very bad for that . Right now my daughter is studying for her exams ,her anxiety levels are so high right now all she sees is the dark side and she is going to fail , of course she is not because she is very very bright and will fly through them . How can I help her with this . Just to be able to make her feel better through this would be a great help , any ideas ?

leeann coffman I am on the spectrum, where I can fool most people most of the time through effort. I relate to your daughter. My aunt was able to give me a positive outlook by having me "win" at related information. I love small tests, hate the idea of exams. I was able to realize exams are just many small tests all at once.

football players and rock stars are not in the middle of the bell curve for males. Some macho is needed to defend oneself in a threatening situation. Also, some masculine behavior is necessary to attract a female romantic partner.
    It is not a crime.
