I’ve had my Rodecaster PRO for about a month and absolutely LOVE it. I’m never going back to my Zoom.
As an aside: I also invested in the Rode Podmic to go with it, and for me, for my voice, in the environments I record in, it sounds nicer than the Heil PR40, ever so slightly better than the Shure SM7B, and far better than my old AT2020 condenser.
I grabbed a hard case that can contain the Rodecaster PRO and four Podmics (and cables) over at BH, so now that is also my portable kit.

@@patflynn BH seems to get them and sell out within a day. Get on their email waitlist and be ready to pounce! I scooped up four, then the next day they showed as backordered again.

Yes, for a couple reasons - you could have a local recording of yourself as a backup with the SD card situation. Second, soundboard for easier editing (as you go) versus in post for intros and transitions (and the airhorn sound effect, lol), the ability to easily and on the fly add in sounds from your computer (so imagine sound clips from youTube or other podcasts that you just hit play on in Apple Podcasts - and then you comment after that in your recording), and finally, the increased sound quality with all the built in components.

    Hi Pat
I want to start up an internet radio station and incorporate my Pioneer DJ controller, is it possible to connect through either usb or the trs phone connection?

Why would you need this versus just having a laptop with usb mics?

Quality (usb direct is not as good, XLR is always better), back up with the SD card, multiple sources/mics, including Bluetooth devices and phones, sound effects, etc.

Better quality sound and takes away a lot of the editing in post. Just streamlines your show. :)

Could the videos have Spanish subtitles? I am from South America and I want to learn about online business. (I write this with the google translator)

Hey I have a question..I am currently recording all of my podcasts interviews on Zencastr..would this be compatible with Zencastr, as far as the sounds and stuff?

Is it your podcast mic that doesn’t sound as good as your ntg or the rodepodcaster sound is just like that?

is there an output where you can put the sound of the mics into a camera?

    • @Huskercentral

You should be able to run out of one of the headphone outputs. I'm wanting to run straight to the camera myself and was told that should work.

Could I connect my Apogee Mic to it?

Everytime I see a Rodecaster Pro video, I see it connected to a Macbook, never to a Windows machine. Someone PLEASE tell me if it's possible. Thanks.

Yes it’s connected to a PC at my desk in this same office. Works great!

How do you get audio to your camera?

  • @PHUKU

Hey man why did your voice sound so thin and condensed and too bright when you switched to the Poscaster pro , your boom mic sound was really warm where as the podcaster sounded literally like you’re on a radio via FM Dial. If prefer your boom sound should I avoid buying the Podcaster pro?

A lot of this has to do with settings on the Rodecaster I imagine. I have heard there are some settings you might want on and others switched off depending on your voice, how loud you speak, etc... I disagree with turning everything on and going, there's a good chance it'll sound fine by doing that, but there's a greater chance you'll get a better sound by tweaking things and finding exactly what you want. I've heard plenty of other people use this and they sound great and don't have that thin/bright sound that you're talking about.

You are not technical, but your review was one of the easiest to understand. Thank you.

That's what I love about Pat, I don't need jargon, just give me the straightforward lay man's review.
