- We take a look at the long awaited and very hyped Dusk. The successor to the extremely popular Moondrop Blessing 2 Dusk. Does this new Dusk live up to the legacy of it's predecessor? Thank you Shenzhen Audio for sending a unit to review.

The issues I said about noise with the DSP cable seem to be recognized more by some others who have tried it, and it’s not just a one off issue with my unit. so I would say that is more of a hit to this IEM regarding recommending it if you intend to use it with the DSP cable.
Oof that Hola cable remark ..shots fired. Nice review
The Hola cable is fantastic. Lightweight, durable, tangle-resistant, thin but not too thin, has a right-angle termination. It’s a shame they discontinued it.
Thanks. I really liked your review too. I’m still working on trying to deliver more information, your videos are really great and well balanced in that regard
I received my May these days, and I'm using the Hola cable on it as an analogue mode.
Yeah I definitely chortled
Carbon fiber faceplates add a yet unseen level of aerodynamics to the IEMs. You should notice less drag when traveling through windy environments with Dusk in your ears.
😂
I really like your reviews, you always hit the nail on the head.
The sneaky move here is to wait for Dusk 2 to go cheap on the used market.
The sneaky move here is to get neither of those
you'll have to be very patience for this to work
might as well just get the chopin. cheaper and should be more fun for most people.
The sneakiest move here would be to buy pizza instead
Just get the Hidizs planar and be done. ✅
This whole dsp preset thing is going to make reviewing and choosing IEMs even mesisee than it already is 😩 in theory choise is always good, but if EQ presets are now a valid part of a review people are going to want to know if applying a bit of EQ to their current set, or a rival set, will lift it above another set etc
From now on the reviews should focus on the analog part only. I have headphones that without equalization are very unpleasant and with equalization they are some of the best listening in my collection (Tempotec IM05). There are headphones that have the peculiarity of getting along well with equalization, others do not. For example, the Simgot EM6L almost does not support increasing the bass. Everything becomes confusing in that part if it is increased. Maybe it's because its dynamic driver is 8mm. Don't know. But each headphone is totally different if we start to equalize it.
Nice review, I'm looking forward to trying mine when it arrives.
Thanks for the review. Glad to hear another lower-volume listener likes the analog cable
Im new to your channel but i wanted to say your voice is relaxing lol
Good video, i appreciate the comparison to the Blessing 2 because i was looking at that one for a while and really wanted to get it but then saw it was discontinued. None of the other reviews I saw were comparing it to anything tangible really.
I only want to spend money on 1 IEM, would you recommend this Dusk or jumping to a Monarch MKIII?
love the format of the video but was wondering if you can you keep the dsp eq saved on the cable? For example if you settled on the dsp default. Can you keep the eq setting without the app (if moondrop stops supporting it in the future or the buggy app is just annoying) or even if you switch to the an iphone from android? Just like plug it in and listen?
Yeah, whatever settings are used will save on the cable and it works across any device with what is saved on it
My quarks dsp have an issue at low volume similar to the one you're describing. The audio is horribly distorted at low volume. It gets better as I raise the volume, but it doesn't go away until it's too loud for comfort. That's only on my phone though. It seems to work fine on my computer at low volumes, aside from there being super uneven volume changes with each step of volume in Windows. Honestly, most of the usb c iems and iem cables have had strange, seemingly unpredictable issues for me. It makes me leery of them. Thanks for the review.
Quarks did have an extra issue where it would jitter every few seconds. I covered it in my review of them, where it would have a peak every few seconds that also showed up in the phase and frequency response measurements. It was really weird
Yeah. I guess that's the risk of being an early adopter of these cables. Hopefully they get these issues ironed out soon.
@@sidesaladaudio Wow, what a mess. Did you get to know what could be causing that?
@@juanblanco7898 I can’t really say myself since that’s a bit more advanced. But when I brought it to MadEconomist, he said “the DAC is f*ckd” lol
Something to do with it losing packets
You said it might not be worth it from b2d, what about from b2? Also how does it compare to the variations?
Hi, I'm quite new to the iem world, sorry to ask you this, what is sweeping sound artifacts? (6:37) Is it like white noise? I often hear some white noise on some wireless earbuds when no sound is playing
It’s more like a noise that slightly sweeps to higher and lower frequencies. Rather than white noise which is more constant
so on dsp, there will be sweeping sound artifacts for movies as well, right?
For me I hear it, but others I’ve asked have said they don’t. So it may not be as big of a problem as it appears to me. But yeah if I have the volume low, I can hear artifacts
Thank you so much for your review!
I might stick to Nova as for now then
I'll just wait if the next years or so The Dusk going to be as timeless as the blessing 2 dusk. If the dusk is still survive through time, I'll purchase The Dusk. No need to hurry to buy the IEM, love the review I'll go back watch this again in the future.
♥
I've had my Dusk for 1 week now and it is my end game. I am happy with the quality and the price point. I've been using the DSP cable without any problems. Didn't notice the sweeping artifacts in my DSP Cable at lower volumes. Previously, i was using the B2D for 2 years as daily driver so I'm happy with the new Dusk! Better bass, tamer treble.
Hype. Hype. Hype.
i bought the blessing 3 months ago and i want to eq the lower end like the bass to match the dusk . im new to this eq stuff , i just wanna ask if my iem will remember the eq from apo when i plug it to different sources ? like phone and pc ?
They won't, unless you are using a dsp cable and setting eq through its app
You'll either have to use EQ software on every device you'll be running them off, or get something like BTR15/Qudelix which can store EQ presets. I'd recommend going for something like that instead of settling for a DSP cable like Free DSP, all of which are very limited in all regards afaik. It's going to cost you more, but trust me it's worth it.
@@juanblanco7898man i think im falling deeper into the rabbit hole lol. This hobby is so fun and expensive and i like it . Thanks for the info guys
Great review. The take on the iem seems quite divided into the camp of some not looking it, some saying its OK, and some telling that its the beat iem under 500.
Its quite sad that for the price of nearly $400 you get such a bad analog cable and also no swappable termination.
when Dusk v3?
genuine question the sound is similar to dusk 2. why do you think the "the dusk"( this one) is so divided? is it because the dsp cable makes it a lot better? the dusk 2 was so well liked
6.5mm to 5.6mm nozzle is the epic improvement. It was the reason I never got Dusk. (and why a horde of people returned or sold it)
5.8
@3:47: it doesn't seem so. 2.5-8kHz is reduced on Dusk2 and that was one of the biggest complains. is it reduced enough? well...
Decided to look at the new moon drop iems and I found a Jamieeeee! ^_____^
hehe. hii
so is it shit on 4.4mm? how does it compare to the blessing 3 and blessing 2 dusk?
Watch the video 👀
None of them lol just buy airpod pros
How can an IEM connector endpoint determine how good or bad an IEM is? It's just a wire gauge cable for transmitting electrical pulses.
It is not gonna affect the tone of tie IEM as that's already done in the IEM itself.
@@Mishael_Agyei-Boamah some said there's some buzz noise going on with the 3.5 cable including reviews from the headphone show. And it might be just not enough push power to run it. So that's why I'm asking is does it improve with 4.4.
How would you say this compares to the og blessing 2 dusk in detail, imagining ect? Haven’t heard many comparisons in that facet.
Nice review. Can't be more precise?
i agree dusk analog isnt even that bad. they should have just not included dsp and made the iems cheaper
Ducks... I like Ducks
can someone confirm, is dusk dsp useless on iphone? yet to find a proper answer but I’m being led to believe it is
edit: finished the video which sorta answers most of it, now will it work fine with a C to lightning adapter?
The DSP cable comes by default with the Dusk preset enabled. It has 3 filters that clean up the midrange a bit. It works if you just plug it into an iPhone. You just can’t modify or change the DSP tuning without an android device
added the edit a bit too late so might add well reply, will it work fine with a C to lightning adapter?
The cable should still do its thing fine regardless of what the source is, you just will have to use an android device to change the settings and save them to the cable.
are you serious? its not apple supported? im an android user but that sounds like they cut out a huge chunk of the market. im sure its becausemany "audiophiles" use androids for their "better dac"
@@Tommie22x No, its most likely because they're a Chinese company and have prioritized android development on their app. Afaik the iphone version of their app is being worked on, and the dusk works just fine with them, just not the app.
Nice review and thank you! These are a pass for me. The Hola cable is one of the better stock cables for sure.
Lots of reviews now saying only good with DSP cable
Lol that's not true at all... They're competitive in their price bracket without EQ... And with the stock DSP preset they handily best items costing 3x its money.
So no they're not bad analog, they're incredible analog and even made more complete with the DSP
Dsp cable makes some games not playable.
*promo sm* ✨
Stock cable is never good , upgrade it 3.5 , 4.4 , problem solved !
I knew that Moondrop favors highs almost to the point of alienating buyers. Also, from what I've heard of the CEO, I get the impression that he's a snob.
The should have put ESTs not planars
It'll become more expensive and the price might become too close to the Variations.
@@ANOLE_VX 350 dollars are end game for many people out there.Considering that I think that many would have prefer paying 150 more and get an iem without sonic flaw in tremble than spending a little less and after a while find them selves in the situation trying to sell it to someone else .Me personally I would prefer rather pay 150-200 more and get a DUSK with flawless tremble than paying 350 for this one. This DUSK maybe I would buy it used but I doubt because many got iems coming out also very soon
@@anatol1204don't know about that. I guess it is personal preference, but to my ears, DUSK is better than Variations (heard both) and almost ties with the Monarch MK2.
@@apothecy4011 Equal to Monarch? That's a tough statement..I will wait for more reviews.
@@anatol1204 Yeah, with DSP. Without it, I'd say they tie with the Variations. They are comfortably better than the Blessing 3 imo.
And it's garbage
Sorry can’t dig anime review style.
Planar drivers for high frequencies? So stupid!
