On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

If you want to know more about the fight between these two jets I highly recommend the book "mig alley". It directly goes into allied soviet and Chinese recordes and it gives a great accounting from both perspective and incredible dog fight stories and a deep dive on each plane's development. Anyways love the content personally would like to see you in the Saber again in this fight but great content.

Reading MiG alley has been on my to do list for 6 years now. Thanks for the reminder, time to finally start.
I always think of them as 50's jets. But it always surprises me that the MiG and Saber first flew in -47 and -49 respectively. They were pretty damn advanced for their time.
I would love to see some 2v2 or even 4v4. That would be alot fun to watch.

Hey GS, content idea for you. All these planes you fly and demo are super fun to watch, but I don’t understand how you know if a plane is a 2C vs 1C fighter.
Like this video… I had no idea the mig was a better 2C fighter… how would I know that? 🤷♂️
My thinking is, make an “If than” diagram
For all the modules.
For example, you’re in the F15 and you come up against a 29.
So in this case you do X… make a master class video about the f15 for each opponent and best way to fight BFM. Repeat for all the big modules.
See what I’m saying? I’d be happy to do a collaboration with y’a to make it work. But I think it could give you a decent road map for a bunch of videos and keep all the great content coming 😊
At the Sacramento capitol airshow they actually had a real dogfight like this between a restored f86 and mig 15. It was awesome watching them fly overhead

One of my favorite air battles my Dad was in a air force police during Korea he never flew but he guarded the pilots and aircraft I had all the model planes from that era when I was a kid that he bought for me and explained their abilities I’ve been into aircraft ever since and absolutely love your and longshot videos thanks.
You know you were at the limits of the flight envelope when your jet comes home with grass stains.
Great video, great dogfight! Lots of skill on both sides, and these two jets are an iconic rivalry. More similar than Mario and Luigi.
The MiG-15 has an airbrake. It's very useful. I have used the airbrake multiple times during dogfights and my kill rate against a sabre is about 75%.

This was an awesome match-up, and perfect follow-up to the previous dogfight with the F-15 and J-11! Also, time to see the MiG-15 square up against the A-10, both got powerful cannons, different applications..
J 11 is a second generation fighter and F 15 is third generation fighter is a amazing but only in the dog fight F 15 VS J 11 is F 15 is most advantage to J 11

Yes Russia had 2( about 26 pilots in total that fluctuated due to rotation and losses) squadrons of pilots rotating through Korea to give them combat experience. It's confirmed that many Russian pilots were aces with WW2 experience fighting 262s in La 5/7 and Yaks. Quite a few Russian pilots have included there service in Korea in translated memoirs.

it would be really cool to see a 2 v 2 korea era fight. The dynamics would be totally different than the other fights.
The reason for the MiG-15's lack of control at higher speed is because it didn't have hydraulically powered controls. The air gets thicker the faster you go, and there's a point that the human body just isn't strong enough to pull against it.

Canadair Saber 6 and the CAC Sabre would be interesting additions. Both have another 1500 LBs of thrust.
F-4 and Sabre pilots described the Mig-15's 27mm as "flaming golf balls" and 37mm as "flaming tennis balls to avoid at all costs"

My neighbor was a Korean war F-86 pilot. He never got any kills, but he said it was a fantastic little fighter. Sadly, he passed away recently.
Makes sense these jets look similar. They have a common ancestor in the Ta-183.

So I enjoy the MiG-15 vs F-86 Sabre videos quite a bit. One reason is because the F-86 is just so damned sexy to look at. I frankly cannot decide if the MiG-15 is beautiful or kind of ugly...
15 with the 37 vs some bombers or transports would be awesome.
I'm a War Thunder main player and I love my MiG 15bis and MiG 17. I love MiGs in general because they're truly challenging. Great fight. Even in War Thunder, I fly the Bis and 17 mostly in the vertical or rate if I'm facing a F86F Sabre. If it's the A-5, F-40, CL13B I have to be cautious because of the slightly larger wings with the leading edge slats. I believe the Sabre variant in DCS is the F86F-25 but correct me if I'm wrong. You never wanna be forced into a 1 cirlce in the 15 Bis especially at high speeds due to the compression / control surface lock up. The F Sabre's have a pretty strong engine so the thrust to weight is somewhat more comparable to the 15Bis but you never know if the pilots are skilled. Whenever I get into DCS, I'll probably get the MiG 15 first or at least that'll be my first cold war era module.

The explosion is so big it’s not even modeled very well. It just looks absurd and cartoonish which makes it all the more enjoyable.

Sadly I watched a pilot crashing a mig crash at el toro marine base. He couldn't complete a loop and scraped the runway . 😢

Gee the brits would have been spewing they gifted the soviets the engin that was shooting their and US pilots couple of years later. Fun fact, the F9F Panther also use the same engine built under licence.
You should try these dogfights with wingmans or in squadrons.

I know very little about DCS, but is there an F4 Phantom module/mod? I grew up watching that tacky History Channel show “Dogfights”, and the episode on Operation Bolo was my favorite. I’d love to see some F4-Mig21 scenarios (and bonus points for differential thrust in the phantom lol)
I now see there’s a video I missed from like a month ago, but I stand by my point that differential thrust in the F4 would be cool lol
I think the F-86 really suffers in the two circle due to the fact that their engine performance is very nearly identical, but the F-86 is almost 40% heavier.
If they had the same wingspan, we would expect this to mean that the F-86 would have nearly twice the induced drag. Fortunately for the F-86, it has about 18% larger wingspan, so in fact it only has something like 35% more induced drag and not double. Even so, given they have near identical engine performance, that's really not good for the F-86's two circle abilities. Essentially it should mean that all else equal, the sustainable turn rate is 14% worse than the MiG.
