Thanks for the walk through It worked out great. You never know the abilities of the previous mechanic until you take something apart. The guy before me was a butcher that's why the seals failed. He bitched up the bore that the seal set in on the cap. Probably he was impatient taking the old ones out. Anyway all is well thanks again!

I just scratch the cap and made 2 or 3 hole broken to open the cylinder cap, it stuck very very bad and i didnt have the tool like this video shows, I break 2 of normal pin wrench and it didnt move a little, the final I using a metal hammer back flat plate place it on the cap, and using another big hammer to smash on it.
After I made a pit on the cap and keep smash on it and it loose finally, I observed the cap and the cap screw thread it just fine and I replace the seal inside and the o ring too.
Then I put back together and it work fine. Of course the cap just like damage.

I dunno if you still read the comments on your videos. But this was really helpful in my rebuild. You should mention that the reason to be careful not to warp the rubber gaskets in the caps is because there is a metal core there. Warp that and your screwed, the unit I rebuilt was so rusted it looked like it was part of the cap! Only this video did not depict or show a metal tab in the cap that screws back on to the unit.
    Thank you!

I had the Cap, a little bolt, a filter , and a bronze cylinder with a nipple on both ends come out. Now I am having trouble putting it back in cant seem to find out the order it goes back in , due to fact that as soon as i unscrewed it it all fell out at once.

Got one of their wrenches and one of the pins sheared off and rounded two of the holes in one of my trims caps. I had to use a punch to remove the caps and although I could probably reuse them I elected to replace them. At $67 US for this wrench, I expected better results. Buy this expensive wrench at your own risk.

I replaced my seals.... now when lowering down to the 2 trim rams, the pressure of the fluid has pushed the dust seal out and leaks all over... I have swapped the caps from right to left and vice versa, still leaks only on one cap.... no matter which side I put it on, so I bought a new cap to replace that one and it happened again..... I am now lost at what to do... could air in the system be a cause of it leaking out like that? swapping the caps with each other was just to help rule out that the "piston" rods of the trim were not culprit. thanks if anyone can help.

+Leon Griffin I was talking to a Yamaha guy and he told me it's a piece of cake, yea right. Well, it said once you put the motor on the trailer lock, then back off a touch, the pin holding the cylinder will loose. Remove the C-clip and tap the rod thru the piston and it will be free. However you first have to remove the tubing going across the cylinder. Also, before all that, you have to loosen the end cap FIRST.
Then he said, once you have the cylinder end cap off, you pull the whole piston out and do it in reverse of the trim . I'm going to attempt it this weekend.
