  • After receiving a few request, my answer is “YES", you can replace (some) trim motors with the trim unit still installed in the engine brackets. It’s always better to bench the unit, only in extreme applications and /or different trim units where it involves splitting the engine brackets or removing engine mounting bolts, this procedure would save the customer several hours in labor cost. Hope this helps.Take care.
    NOTE: I’m replacing and engine timing belt F-115 on my next video.

    This was excellent!!! Thank you for posting! I have a 2012 Yamaha VMAX 175 HPDI that this will work on. I figured I could possibly do it without having to remove the entire unit and your video makes me have complete confidence to now do it. I loved the detail of every step. Well done, sir! Thanks again!

    Hi - You have a talent for demonstrating and teaching - great work! Thanks and I’m now a new subscriber. I have a 2022 Yamaha f200 four cylinder and the trim has never held the motor up for long. It used to take a day or two for it to drop. Now it drops from half way up to down in half an hour. I took it back to the dealer a few times for the issue to be fixed, and they would tell me it’s fixed, but it never was. Would you have any idea if this is a common thing with new Yamaha outboards, and (if so) which parts do I need to replace? I’m comfortable doing the work myself as it seems the only way to get it done competently. Thanks again for your great style.

    Good video, explained very well. I have the same unit on my f115. It stopped working, I found a nick in the wire at top of transom height. Water had gotten down the wire and corroded the brush connection (circuit breaker one), yes there is a circuit breaker there. Unfortunately 3 of the bolts snapped trying to undo, so I can verify they are dry, and stainless and alloy don't go well. Currently spraying and let it sit for a while (unit is out), any recommendations with type of spray to seep in and loosen, fortunately the head snapped off and I still have some thread to grip?

    Just followed the entire video, wired the green and blue onto outboard. Went to use trim switch and the ram i lowered with a RAG isn't going up or down. I hear the new trim motor working, but it's not moving the ram arm. Any idea?

    • @us4marine
      @us4marine  Před 3 měsíci

      Make sure the weight of the motor is on the ram, you have enough fluid in reservoir and manual release valve is close. Thank you for watching. 👍🏻

    • @us4marine

      OMG time to start drilling and get some metric helicoils. 😩, remember to put a rag or masking tape on the pump opening to avoid metal shavings falling in. Thank you for watching. Good luck

      @@us4marine I just drilled strait through and, through bolted them, works great now and should make it a little easier next time around.

      Same here mate, the 3 that are exposed on the ends. I'm trying to soak a bit with CRC spray. while the new motor turns up. I think I'll have to drill them out too.

      @@richardpickersgill3434 no I did not save the threads, just drilled straight through and used smaller bolts and nuts with lock washers.
