How will you ever survive?! And why the hissy fit? Well, many years ago I was royally stitched up with this car. First world problems, sure, but I also have no shame.
Watch the 20th anniversary special of me buying a dream car for its first (and for the foreseeable future, last) appearance on the channel.

I think McGuinness roasting a car only speaks positively of the car.
McGuinness isn't funny
wot is roasting is it like woke , ahd, , lgbgt, cat fishing etc etc disgusting grandfather east end london uk europe sothern hemosphere earth universe and beyond
@@foff73 Sounds unprofessional, cheap laughs.
Paddy McGuiness has killed off so many things on TV. Don't let him kill off Brian, we need more Brian on the channel 😊
The dark destroyer of primetime TV
How man of todays cars will look as cool as this in the future ? I don’t think there will be many. The styling and design may be of it’s time, but your car sands up, and stands out today, a point in history to many that brings back fond memories, you must get people commenting on it, it’s effortlessly cool and has earned that crown.
I've mentioned before but I worked for a Peugeot/Citroën garage in the 1980's when these were new.
We sold masses of 1.4s but very few 16v cars.
Citroën sent 3 pre registered 16v without them being requested and due to the price we just couldn't sell them.
They also dealt with VW/Audi so on the forecourt they were not only fighting the 205/309 GTis but the Golf's and Audi Coupe.
They were expensive and a hard sell...but awesome cars.
The garage owner drove one that he just couldn't sell.
My favourite car to drive around the lake district in they couldn't sell was a red Visa GTi ohhh how I loved that little car, faster than the 205 by quite a bit.
I was offered it at a fair price but the wife said no fkn way with "that" look!
She broke me as a little later I even sold my Mk1 Metro Turbo and got a Triumph Acclaim....kids n stuff won the day 😂😂😂
..ax gt wouldn't touch s 205 1.9 gti , I've had plenty of both.
@@PROPHETS-BAINagree 100% ive had a couple of ax gt back in the day and a 205 gti the pug would have destroyed the ax found the ax very high at the back
@@PROPHETS-BAIN he said Visa GTI, which had the same 0-60 time as the 1.6 205 GTI.
I was a bit shocked when I saw the length of this video, but what a great story, and what passion you show for the BX 16V and how it has been a part of your life for the past 20 years. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and although you say it won’t be appearing again on the channel I think members would be very interested to watch the routine maintenance and repair that is needed to keep a 34 year old car on the road.
Thanks! To be honest, the length was irrelevant to me when editing. A case of 'It is what it is'. I also see a lot of other long-form videos from much bigger channels than mine, and people seem to enjoy those. I'm happy if anyone watches it and enjoys it in some form.
Forgot to add:
If anyone ever had any doubts about the overall dynamic ability these gems posess, it's enough to study Peter McLeod's success with racing these in Bathurst (Mt.Panorama), in
Gr.N-like spec. (almost completely stock spec.!), where
he regularly spanked the factory Peugeot team with their 405 Mi16, factory -prepared in France.
Being almost 200kg down on the 405, with vastly superior oleopneumatic suspension, colossal braking power, and way smaller aerod. cross-section,
it was pure maths.
Says it all, really.
I read everything I can about MacLeod's exploits
Great story, and may BAH keep on making you happy. People think I'm mad because I would like a Citroën ZX Volcane 2.0i. The fact we are all differant, makes the world a better place.
vive la difference!
I have a N/A diesel ZX a volcane would be a fantastic car
Great choice a ZX Volcane!
I'd like a white 5dr 1.9i Volcane. Had a red 16v once.
I've got a 1.4i ZX. I'd absolutely love a Volcane. My boss had one in the 1990s in that dark blue colour. A 1.9 Turbo diesel Volcane and it was fantastic.
That is a lovely Citroen.
This really got me thinking about the importance of a story. My BX may not be the most interesting, most rare or even the one I like most. However, it is my BX, and has been for three years now. The story that comes along with that is definitely worth more than what model it is. Thanks for sharing your story, and making me take a different approach to BX ownership. Cheers!
I’ve had it with magazines etc. I’ve booked days off work before for film shoots just to be told, when emailing for final details, oh we’ve changed our plans we don’t need you any more. They take the classic car community for granted. They never offer money either.
@richardmorris3297 having worked on the other side. When you're putting something together, you don't really have a clear idea of the end product so you need to first find out what you can source. That might entail making phone calls and chasing what's available.
You shouldn't assume you have a booking until you have a contract signed, with a break clause where they pay you for cancelling the booking.
Usually full payment for cancellations within 48 hours of booking. 50% for cancellation between 2 days and 7 days. 20% for cancellation between 7 days and 14 days. And then they can cancel before q4 days without penalty.
@@Professional_CZcams_Commenter Pretty typical response. Why should he have to force you to sign a legal contract for you to do the right thing? Why cant you just do it? If you know its standard to pay someone 20% for cancelling, why not just say "sorry, its out of my hands but we can get you 20%". not "Well look budy you never got us to sign anything so its all on you".
Is it the first thing you look at when cancelling? Oh we can cancel this guy for free but have to pay this other one, we will cancel him, and do a bit on the other one? How many times have you done that to people?
@@geroutathat i have an AV hire company and we never really cancelling anything where we were out of pocket. for covid we provided free cancellations 24 hours before booking because events were pulled last minute. you have to be flexible in events because it's chaos. if there's no contract you have no booking and we make that clear. some people say "can you hold it for us until we confirm" we always tell them, "no, the items might still be available but will not reserve it for you and potentially lose business".
What a perfect looking and especially perfect sounding BX. Thanks for the story Rich! 😊
Thanks for watching
I had a BX TZD Turbo Diesel same colour back in the 90's , was the best car ever to drive, extremely comfortable, Fast & very reliable never missed a beat in 3 years off ownership, Great Car.
pug 405 no turbo diesel i had it was A+... was the bx the one with the lift kit on it
My dad had the BX GTI 16V, also a very good and fast car for that time
I think this is as wholesome as Mr. Kitch can get. Loved the video.
This is the most animated I've ever seen you. And you know what. It really does show how much you love that car.
You see certain CZcamsrs that say they love cars, but are very two dimensional. But you aren't at all. Watching you literally explaining your love for BXs does help those who feel geeky and nerdy, that it's perfectly fine to be geeky and nerdy!
So thank you!
You should have seen me during the playoff final the other day!
Thanks though. Life is too short to not be who you are.
I absolutely love 16 valves. I had one for 3 years when I was 21. Bulletproof engine and surprised so many cars of that era. I still wish I had kept mine. Thank you for the video.
This was a lovely way to spend a little over an hour. I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation and memories. The photos throughout were the icing on the cake!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That's a lovely car, and very rare, shows the ignorance of the TV people, and I don't blame you for being angry.
A man and his motor, anyone wonder why the two can become one, here's a great story of why. What an adventure you two have had. Loved listening. 👌
I owned this exact model ,it was absolutely brilliant.
Wicked video - what a story that old boy’s got. Cheers for telling it
Wow, thanks! That's very kind.
Don't normally comment but that was a great video. Reminded me that possibly one of the most stupid things I've ever done was to sell my very early Saab 9000 cse that I'd owned for fifteen years . As for McGuiness ,pretty much an over hyped talentless individual that reminds me where the TV off switch is located whenever he appears.
You've made me want another BX even though the last one blew up nearly 30 years ago (my fault, thought the low oil light in my 17rd could safely be ignored for a week :) )
They've always been gorgeous to me! 👍 Another great story.
20 years and i still get flashbacks to the A3 incident on the way home 😂
It was hilarious 😆
Kiitos! Awesome video, you're a great storyteller! A coworker used to have two BX GTIs in mid-late 90s, I liked them but they seemed always be leaking LHM from some place...
Thank you mate, that's very kind.
And yes, the LHM does tend to find ways of escaping.
Very Cool! Love these videos. The story of the car is as important as the car itself.
Lots of familiar places mentioned too! In the early 00s I was living in Winchester, going to Uni in Southampton and working in Hedge End. My eldest was born in Winchester in 2003, so you've brought back lots of memories for me.
Great story! The year before your 16V was born, I was finishing my first stint selling Citroens, at what would've been your local dealer at the time. One of the bosses had a 16V and it was always fun to drive (although not my favourite, that would be the CX GTi Turbo II) as was almost all the BX range. I believe I'm right in saying 1988/89 was the period when Citroen doubled their UK market share and I'm pretty sure I sold more cars in that 12 months than I ever did, before or since; a major part of that success was the facelift BX and I had a great affinity to the brand in general and the BX in particular. By the time I started my second term in 1993, we were in a limbo period between the end of the BX and the launch of the Xantia but, as a new franchisee, my dealer were allocated a TZD turbo estate and a 16 Auto as part of our opening stock, which were looking extremely old hat and proved very difficult to shift, but I still have very fond memories of the car that, in all my 40 years in the trade, had more interesting things to talk about than any other I can think of.
Nice one, enjoyed reading that
really enjoyed watching this , thanks for presenting , love your style
Realy? That car is a superstar. You realy told a nice story and I watche it to the end enjoying it. Good job
I owned a BX 16 RS Pilot in the mid 90's. I used it to represent my University in Navigational Scatters and Road Rally events. It won us a couple of trophies.
Supposedly, it's still out there somewhere, on SORN, but it's more than likely become bean tins by now.
There was a time when every other mini-cab was a diesel BX, but they're all gone now.
I recently saw a similar BX on a sales forecourt, and gave serious though to going back for a second look.
Love the tinfoil hat!! Hope to see more of it in future videos
So good to see a video on BAH & hear the story. What a life you've had with that car. I remember seeing some of the piston heads pics & seeing the odd video of this car thinking "wow, that 16v is everywhere, must be a special car" & I'm right
It got 'everywhere' too much. That's part of the reason I'm keeping it behind closed doors, to try and balance it out!
Excellent video, thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Thanks for sharing the story of BAH.
Come across your channel today while smoking a brisket at 3am lol wasn't really watching seriously but as your video went on your love and enthusiasm shines through and is exactly the reason I got into cars. Passion and turning non hero cars being loved. Exactly why I love vauxhalls everyone else under appreciates them. Beautiful Bx you have and a great story.
I can't imagine that scene came off very well with most enthusiasts 😅 jokes on them buddy.
Ooof the burn with the Peter Kay comment
And from the rumours about Peter Kay's comedy 'recycling' it hits double hard.
I love Phoenix Nights so had to get it in there!
You can NEVER trust TV/film companies, I won't go into any detail but they pissed me about disgracefully, lied, didn't have us on in the end, and then begrudgingly sent me a tape of the programme, after asking many times, TOTALLY UNTRUSTWORTHY!
Used to live in London next door to a couple who both worked in TV. From the stories they told me, it was clear that most people in the industry came a close second to politicians for lack of integrity.
I said it before but it really is a stunning looking car. I've had my Alfa 145 Cloverleaf for over 15 years now too, only been on the road for one year, I really need to finish the work it needs.
Thought I recognised that car from our C-side days, nice to see you still have it Kitch. Looks great.
What an absolutely outstanding video! For me it was a trip down my own memory lane. In early 1996 I travelled over to England from Dublin and acquired my one a only Citroen at Blackbush Market. A 1992 BX 16valve in white. A glorious car it was. I was 34 years of age at the time.
I kept J401 HAT until April 2003 when I gave it to my brother, in Maidstone, for the cost of the ferry ticket. Yes I did spend a lot of money on it...a gearbox rebuild and a couple of hydraulic pipes but it was worth every penny. Twenty one years on and I still regret parting with it...
Cracking storyline video..
Our paths may have crossed back in 2004 then, Penenden Heath is very close.
What a story, happy 20th and may the Deos Soupapes watch over its beautiful body, A pillar welds and all
Acquired a very nice and wafty Xantia HDi 110 Exclusive for a bargain the day this was uploaded, now sitting in my mk.1 BX project car, hoping to be sat in my own 16 Valve someday!
Great video & story , i lived not far from where you got BAH as well , any car that puts a smile on your face with such years of memories is a keeper . And I never watched anything with that paddy Mac bloke and what does he know about cars ? I do feel your pain as my wife calls my Capri “ The Prat mobile “ after the only fools and horses Capri 😂😂😂
Thank you for sharing 👍
I remember being taken out in one of these as a kid. Fantastic car. Felt like a rocketship compared to my dads company Sierra! Anyone that roasts this is clearly clueless!
The algorhythm loves you my man, and this bx looks really tight in a positive way.
The rims suits well too, such a beauty, i like the ph1 too, never owned a bx in my life tho, must be very comfy.
I had a bx14 for my first car loved it always wanted another yours looks awesome 👌 and it's a 16v with the great bodystyling
Great video as always Kitch ... although I rarely have the time to watch such long videos I'm glad I make your videos the exception.
The 13th of June is also a special day for me, but not due to a car ... My wife and I started our relationship 33 years ago today (or yesterday, I had to watch to the end and the day has clicked over). During Brian's ownership of BAH, in fact ...
Thanks for so beautifully explaining how cars become part of our lives ... I've got some great car stories - less hairy now I'm slightly more mature. They really are the backdrop to our lives.
Keep up the great work - always a pleasure to see you
Thanks Tom
Your video was the first recommended video after i passed a bx on the highway. What are the odds right. But am i glad i clicked on this loved hearing this story you have a great presenting personality. Definitely subscribing to see what comes next
That was a really interesting story about your car. Every car has a story ans it was great to hear the story of your car.
Love your passion for your car. I had E414LEW in the nineties. I loved it sooo much. Miss it every day 😢
8am or 9am is certainly not early in the morning. 😂😂😂
Getting up for work at 3am to start a 14hr shift like I do, is early in the morning!
Well done rich a brilliant video and so good to hear your passion for that car and belief in it I say well done for keeping that car on the road for all these years I have always loved the BX and my cousin had a few brand new mainly 16TRS and 19TRS and I treasure my memories of riding in them
Sounds a pretty rubbish TV show it will probably get more love here on up and down! All the best to you all Daniel
i had the luck to see one today in white and thought it was still a stunning looking car mate love them!!
Lovely. Really enjoyed this. I was the guy driving Luke's BX at Santa Pod. Happy days.
Were you? Swore it was his brother!
@@UPnDOWN I know! Luke entrusted me with his car for those runs, which was lovely of him.
McGuiness is a no mark that owes everything to Peter Kay , otherwise we'd have never heard of him .
Car is still looking good mate, it’s been a good few years since you and I last had a chat in person!
Keep following your passion. Well done for giving your car a voice. I feel your pain as I approach others faithfully and optimistically in the same way and usually end up being let down. My fault too. That said, you have a wonderful car and what’s a better story than a 20 year love affair and getting what you dreamed of? As an aside, there was a mass produced multivalve engine fitted in the Renault 21 TXI (or GTI in some markets) from ‘88/89; 2.0 and a mere 12v but it produced 140 bhp. Later used in the 25 too. A warm option instead of the turbos and could be had in Quadra spec too.
Thank you for sharing this experience, and your car still looks great for that age. I really like my Peugeot 206cc and I remember an episode where they would roast different types of Peugeots on Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond and they mistreated those cars a lot on that show and made a lot of fun about the broken electronics, but even while they tried their best to break them, they all reached the destination on that show and that told me enough about the quality of those cars. They can have some small electric issues over time, but for me that part is all easy to fix. The plastic interior still looks great after 20 years and it is still easy to find replacement parts. I still think French cars are the best option when roads are in bad condition.
I had 2 BX's ( or Magic Carpet Ride) in the trade, both were diesel and both were ultra reliable as long as you kept the 'spheres' topped up. I loved the way way the diesels would purr like contented cats and both were very comfortable and like an absolute dipstick I eventually traded the second one for a Peugot 306 TD....regretted that decision ever since. (sigh!).
Splendid you gave it some beans, great story, you clearly have a great love and affinity to that car, less said about Mr Mcguiness, the better
Loved my red BX that I had in the 1990s, even drove it over to France. Had a ZX after that, also a brilliant car.
Always liked the BX , I owned one, it was a much more interesting alternative to the Cavaliers and Sierras of that era and their bodies were rust free which definitely could not be said for the competition 😊
I've still got your leather seats in mine, which I've just realised I bought around the same time you got BAH!
It's not (quite) the vehicle I've had the longest, but the one I've done the most miles in by quite a way.
My dad owned the citroen BX GTi 16V and it was a beast! It beat many cars on the road back then
What a treasure. Hope which ever kid gets it Knows the real value it contains.
A story that needed to be told. Thank you 👏👏👍
My pleasure!
Theese look so damn good and sporty.. It's a great unicorn the 16v!! Awsome car you got👍
What a beautiful machine, i grew up in citeron, my grandad owend so many. Such underated cars
Love your car it is a true classic an honorable classic keep up and don't let people take advantage of you cuz they see you have a nice car 👍💯🚘
Thanks Rich, that was an absorbing hour-and-a-bit of viewing. It is truly a lovely, and loved, car.
You seem surprised by the viewing figures. You shouldn't be. You have discovered in yourself an ability in front of the camera, an ability brought to the fore by cars such as WEP and BAH. What power an inanimate object has!
I gave up watching TV about 5 years ago. My viewing of an evening is sourced entirely from a very select few CZcams channels - of which yours is one. I need say no more...
I bought a secondhand red GTI from Sands of Burnham for my wife to drive in about 1990. I part-exed a red MG Metro Turbo. It proved to be the right thing to do with two daughters growing up and the Metro becoming rather too small. Both cars were great fun to drive it must be said.
My older daughter was born in South Africa in 1980. She came home from hospital in a carrycot resting on the ledge behind the seats of my MG Midget. Times have changed somewhat!
How fun would an MG Metro Turbo be today though? I'd LOVE a go in one of those!
@UPnDOWN It was a hoot back in the day. I believe that Lotus were involved in the engine and suspension modifications. The Metro was bought in 1983 and in 1985 I bought an MG Montego Turbo in white as its companion. They looked great together on the drive! The Montego was quite a rapid machine, handled well too...
Lovely car. I've owned 4 BXs but never a 16 valve.
I was desperately trying to think at the start which celebrity owned a BX, and the only one I could think of was Fulton Mackay. But of course he would have been long gone, sadly, by the time that programme was made. I remember reading an article about him and he owned an early 16TRS in red, very similar to VEP!
I love your story telling.
I really like the 21:42
Love Brian as a name.
Not loose, broken XD.
Please do the sump job so that we can learn more.
Gotta go to bed, "rM-Gee" cute :)
I loved my old Gt 1.6. Apart from the odd hydraulic leak it was super comfortable, had loads of extras & was quite nippy.
I love it , nice to be different . I've just bought a punto evo sporting (not many left on the roads ) don't worry about what all the plastic people think xx
A long while back I bought a red BX GTI 4x4 because obviously I figured a normal BX didn't have enough things to go wrong. When I sold it I bought another BX GTI 4x4 but this time it was white. I loved them both, neither gave me any trouble other than leaking the odd drop of green blood from various hoses. I bought some plastic ratchet style clips which just sent the leak somewhere else. Great cars. Wish I still had the white one.
Hey Rich consider yourself lucky - you ended up with the car back after all the features in the condition it started - I did a feature for a car magazine where they were reviewing my all time favorite car - The Vauxhall Senator - 4 cars turned up for the feature (3.0 24V auto, 3.0 24V manual, 3.0 12V auto and 3.0 12V manual) only 3 cars were driveable - one 3.0 24V manual was comprehensively written off during a test drive - the original intention was the journalist to drive all four the 24V manual was the first - none of the others were driven after that......... Great video on the BX 16V - really enjoyed it but you really have to be very careful when vetting magazines/TV programs before allowing them access to your pride and joy
Great video!
13/06/2004 was my 21st Birthday 🥳
I was fortunate to get some Birthday money to add to a small amount of savings and purchase a white 1991 Toyota Celica GTi-16 (mainly because it had pop-ups and I like Sega rally!)
Sadly the car is no longer with us but I can relate to your memories and adventures - I can remember every car I had at every important life event. Funny how cars become a family member!
Used to work on these things during my apprenticeship….the amount of suspension pipes i made and fitted was astronomical along with spheres that needed fitting
I once agreed to do a newspaper interview about small business owners thriving in lockdown, in the Sunday Times. They didn't use any of the interview and made up a story to suit a narrative they wanted to make about banks not supporting businesses.
I had angry messages from my bank who somehow found out about it and contacted me, I had messages from people threatening to come to my house for complaining about minor problems when they couldn't feed their children.
Not a word I said was used in the 1/4 page article and they never apologised even after months of harassment.
I won't lend my name or anything related to me to articles in media again. They have their agendas and it isn't likely to be truthfully communicated to those they involve.
Ah man, that stinks. Sorry to hear that!
I would personally like to see more of this car. It’s awesome & this was a very enjoyable video. I’ve always liked the BX. They don’t make cars like them anymore do they.
Professor Tomato will have to do 😆
I loved my BX1,9TRD - after head gasket replacement and head re-ground twice the compression ratio was altered and it performed like a sports car.
I remember us having a very late white Bx 1.9 GTi in stock for about a year before it sold at Bank Top Citroen in Blackburn, I think the Xantia had already come out if not imminent, i also had a mild obsession with Bx's back in the day so you're not alone, I even drew a Bx in different forms as part of my art project at school, i think I've owned around 10 Bx's over the years here and in NL when i worked for Mekenkamp Autos ❤
I did own this car,red and loved, the only problem was that the hydraulic system to go up or down broke very often and cost me too much in mechanics,so at the end had to sell it
I remember used car roadshow and the episode u speak of.........as for your motor its clearly been loved even if you did used to give some stick! Bx's not my box of candy but can appreciate your love and the tech citroen used in it. Didn't Chris Barry do episodes of deals on wheels with brewer.
I had a GTi in the late 90s, it wasn’t in great condition but lots of fun and incredibly practical.
Thank you for sharing the stories of BAH. As for TV: the problem is that TV shows (and movies, and novels come to that) lose the specifics, the actualness, of what they're about, and just fall into the cliches of a TV programme or a movie, or a novel). Or, to put it another way, I'm so old I can remember when Top Gear was interesting and Clarkson was funny; but then they just did stupid stuff like making Reliants roll, which is just sneering at people for whom the Reliant was important. Anybody going to sneer at a 1930s Austin 7? Objectively, a crap motor car; but full of significance.
In fact, why I follow this channel, though I'm not all that much into cars, and have never had a Citroen (though I still remember my only ride in a DS) is that you haven't turned into a CZcamsr.
Sorry if that's embarrassing.
Not at all embarrassing, and the sentiment did resonate with me. Entertainment seems to have become the main purpose of many media outlets, and it reflects the way many consume their media. There is plenty of educational content available, made by people with a love for their field of expertise or their hobby, but this type of content will rarely gain the mass-following that a provider of more broad and easily digestable content will see. In the end, what we offer up is fundamentally our time and what we spend it on is a good way to show what kind of content we value.
What a beautiful story.
I looked at the length of the video but clicked on it anyway and thoroughly enjoyed the story.
Awesome, thank you!
Really enjoyed this
That car will always be 'barr' regardless of the registration. And I love it. And it is a lot of the inspiration for keeping mine on the road!
Probably the other way round to be fair. Seeing your progress with yours and XPO kept BAH in the front of my mind.
your story was awesome and so was you bx i had a 4x4 version and my dad had a turbo diesel Gandini when i was 15
I had a BX19RD and later an '85 19GT. Both amazing cars - loved them and would have them both back in a heartbeat.
19GT is a very rare car now. They were only produced for less than 2yrs.
Vastly underrated cars - fast quiet and comfortable - lovely Car to drive !
currently my car is in the garage for a lot of welding and a few upgrades, but its 23 years old 1/83 left on the road in the uk and wouldn't change it for a thing ... its a subaru forester (mk1 facelift) running stock tune (177bhp) 10/10 would give u a race lol ... can't wait to get it back and get it mapped though, aiming for 270-320bhp :P :D ... if you go to any of the jdm shows you might see me there one of the days :) strange how some cars become family members
These long form story time videos are great Rich. Really shows your enthusiasm and love for your cars.
When you stop and think about all the memories you collect in cars, it gives them a life of their own. Makes it extremely hard to part with them.
I did this one knowing it's not going to 'do well' on YT. It's been a long time in the making, though!
I think "tops" is something else... 😂
I was a non-believer until you took me out in it not long after you got it. Now I will sing their praises to all that'll listen.
Also, do we know who owned that Boxster? He was beaten by Jon's Mk3 Golf VR6 as well.
Boxster was on the M271 sliproad, totally unrelated. I do remember 'beating' the VR6 though 😆
thankyou for a very special entertaining video.
I think the car counts as your “Other Significant Other”…. great history, great little car…
If it’s any consolation, I have always liked a Citroen BX. Tried to encourage my dad to buy one when he needed to change his car. He bought a Citroen, gs Pallas estate in geranium red. If the battery went near flat, you could start with a starter crank handle. And of course the talking point was often the suspension that you could raise up, which was always useful for things like a large flood in the road. On one occasion and this was a long time ago, my dad got wheel clamped old style wheel clamp. So my dad just raised the suspension and drove out of the clamp. And the four cylinder engine used to make puurrrrggh noise. Needless to say while it wasn’t a car to drool over, it used to put a smile on our faces for its usefulness and it’s character.
