Rules of the duel in case you were wondering. Neither side can reload to shoot again until both sides have shot. Because John never fired in the 3rd round of shots, when the Marquis reloaded, he broke the rules and allowed John a free shot, which the Marquis was so kind enough to get extra close for him to take.
I didn't take it that way. It didn't seem like the Marquis broke any rules. It felt more like it was still the second round, it never ended, so John took his second shot, just took it late, on purpose, to draw out the Marquis' arrogence.
There was never any mention in the movie of this being a rule. John wasn't "allowed" a free shot, he just still had his shot with him, he was deliberately baiting out the Marquis and didn't want to kill his friend. He was allowed to take a shot against the Marquis because the Marquis stepped in to the duel to shoot, not because the Marquis broke a rule.
Marquis was always going to come in for the killing blow, he let his pride and arrogance get the better of him once the 2 sides drew close enough, without realising John never shot yet. No rules were broken, it's not that complicated
This film is nuts! I honestly think they get better and better, the one shot overhead dragon breath scene is one of the best action scenes, blew my mind watching this in IMAX. Enjoyed the reaction!

You didn't show the part, but the bit near the end where John asks Winston to "Take him home", he was asking him to bury him next to his wife, as that's the only home left for him. Always thought that was a beautiful line that really demonstrated the close relationship between Winston and Wick.
Given john wick 5 is being made I doubt that's now acurate
Killa was played by legendary martial artist Scott Adkins in a Fat suit. Which added a great suprise for people when he pulls out the moves.

The actor of Winston talked about that in an interview in which he jested that Winston was an expert marksman that knew john would survive a fall off the top of the continental and ahead of time that John would be pulled to safety by the Bowry King.

John wick 5 is confirmed so he's probably not dead I'm pretty sure John wick was just presumed dead so that he can continue his peacefull life free from the table
We do see his grave at the end, but I doubt they would kill off Wick at the height of the franchise's success. I feel like he faked his death, because everything he's been through was a lot worse than a bullet to the shoulder, arm, and lower left abdomen.
(He should've broken his spine against the fire escape at the end of chapter 3, but didn't.)
A headstone is a headstone, doesn't mean there is a body under it.
Keanu implored the directors to kill him, saying that he was too old for the stress/injuries of the movies saga.
So there might be series or spin off but keanu will be no more.
(unless he goes back on this decision)

Killa was played by Scott Adkins, the fat suit didn't slow him down by much.
The Marquis stepped in before John shot so John shot him. It's highly likely that Kane and John planned it to go that way. They each winged each other knowing that if they killed the Marquis that everything would be settled. Winging each other to make it look good while getting the Marquis close enough for John to easily kill him within the duel. But it's turn based dueling so in round 3 the Marquis stepped in right in the middle.
When the Marquis declared that he would take the Coup de Grace from his No. 2, he effectively became the active duelist, especially since he is the one challenged. And since John never fired his shot, the current round is still ongoing.
John Wick 1,2,3 all take place one after the other but all three movies take place in the span of a week or a week and a half, John 4 takes place 5 to 6 months after the third movie I've heard there's going to a be a fifth one but idk. Also the tapping Caine does with his cane is to feel his surroundings because he's blind

An alternative ending John is in the distance at his funeral. At the end you can see his dog looking away. Remember the only way out is dead. As long as John's "Dead" no one will be looking for him, trying to kill or fire him. Even though Reeves wanted to die at the end of this film, the producers left a 10% window in case they are able to make another film. As of Nov 2023 they already started writing J.W.#5

That man playing the blind guy is Donnie Yen. I recommend you check out IP Man 1-4 and Flashpoint. Those are some of Donnie Yen's best movies. The guy in the fat suit is Scott Adkins. I recommend Accident Man 1-2, Special Forces and Undisputed. Those are some of Scott's best movies

I would love a spin off movie where Akira tries to kill Caine and they need to team up for some reason. I mean she might technically be wanted for trying to hide John (despite her protests) she gets attacked while attempting to kill Caine and he helps her get out of it. Then again I'd also like to see John Wick become The Crow, but that is more hopeful sequel stuff.
