Curry is 36 and he's about to enter his final stretch. What's best for Golden State is to focus on getting future draft picks. A new era has arrived sadly no matter how hard it is to believe but reality is harshed.

Klay has to go. Kerr won't reduce him permanently to a 20mpg bench player. 32 minutes and 0 points? That's insane. His stunk up last year against the Lakers. He can no longer handle playoff intensity. It's an absolute shame Anthony Edwards could have been the starting 2 guard for the Warriors right now.

It was strictly a financial move - the actual ramifications of that happens now in the off-season, with his expiring contract.
The bonus was him mentoring the younger players, who have all said he had a huge positive impact on them. That's a nice bonus for a team with 4 really young players who they intend to be large rotation pieces going forward.
Now he won't resign probably going back to the Suns
Get rid of all the old veterans except for Steph Curry rebuild and go Young

Every dynasty eventually arrives at this point. As a Spurs fan, I went through this starting about five years ago when the team was stuck in that average state for about three years. Eventually, the franchise pulled the plug and set itself up for a reboot. They lucked out last year by winning the Wemby lottery. With Steph on the roster, the Warriors definitely have some tough choices to make. How long do they wait before starting over? Is there any realistic scenario where they can win with Steph?

@@johnl6855 Not true. He made a last second three to beat the Kings last November. So, no one really cares to watch any regular season game. He also played more regular season games this year than he has in at least 10 years.
@@christopherpaul7588 I only remember the game where Monk overtook them and got them on 1 point. I only watch the game when I felt like how they did mattered, sometimes it's blocked also. Also, I'm not a fan when they're not improving the team with trades and just blindly keeping the "core."

Cp3 should sign back with Phoenix for the vet minimum. They need a PG that can get them in and out of sets. Allows Booker to focus on scoring and doesn’t have to be a facilitator which sometimes takes away from his game
Just let Chris Paul walk and he can sign with the clippers to finish his career there but then let Russell Westbrook go back to OKC he can get a contract to finish his career there.

Coz let's face it, you're not gonna get better immediately by letting Klay walk just like that. They'll need to get him a contract that matches steph/dray's in terms of years at a more $ friendly.
so probably sign Klay at a more $ friendly contract, get more pieces for CP3 + Wiggins' contracts
hopefully the development trajectory of the Kum Bucket elevates them back to a more competitive tier
jackson davis, podziemski, those folks should work on surprising rookie years, get gp2 and moody into more consistent games/year and contributions
the question then becomes what can you get out of CP3 and Wiggins' contracts
maybe 2-3 other role players?

Ok lets face facts GS is not rebuilding as long as Steph is on this team,so they need to put the best product possible to maximize his window. 46 wins as a play-in is crazy in most years that would've been a 5-6 seed that shows you how deep the West is. GS needs a solid #2 option behins Steph, Klay isnt that guy anymore, still could be a #3 option on a championship team. Problem is the FA class for this year is horrific, they're not going to get Paul George, Maxey or anyone like that ubless theyre willing to pony up big $$ to them, so their best course is through a trade. Any trade offer for an All-Star is centering aroung Kuminga amd you're likely packing Wiggins, picks, etc to get that player, but if its only a marginal upgrade is it worth trading JK esp if that player is still not a #2 on a chip team. Unless youre getting someone like Dame, Embiid, someone who moves the needle best bet for GS would be to hold onto JK and trade Wiggins, but his trade value is so low you're basically salary dumping. This might sound wild, but we've seen what Wiggins is capable of when GS won the chip so they're not getting a player that can actually help them for Wiggins then maybe just hold onto him, hope he has a better season and trade him next year. E.g. Wiggins, Looney and a future 1st for Capela bc hes on an expiiring deal, helps GS with their size issue, an improvement defensively at C and gives you enough offense where he doesn't hurt you there and a chance to maximize JK floor that's the type of move im making other than packing him with other pieces to get a solid #2, that's my take of course
wiggins, draymond and klay are the key reasons why the warriors regular season was soo bad. missing games and not being anywhere near what is expected for their contract. i dont blames cp3 cuz no one wanted poole and honestly he was doing well with rhe young guys. young guys completely were like deer in headlights against the kings. i mean some of these guys thats not steph curry should be going for vet minimums or GTFO

Yeah warriors is just overrated. They became 4 time champion because of the aid of nba officiated games for them. Draymond always hurt someone without calling him a fragrant foul and always get away with that. Steph always shoot ridiculous 4 point plays because he is untouchable in the perimeter and if someone try then the refs are whistling against you. And when he attacks the baskets he never call for offensive fouls. Same with klay and the other guys around.

No hard decisions here. First you shake Klay hand and let him walk to get paid somewhere else and be someone else's problem now, then explore trades for Chris Paul, Draymond and Wiggins. Emotional attachment is what got you into this mess. Draymond should have never been brought back for that ammount of money.

Klay Thompson isn't worth more than 10-15 million/year if even that. I don't care about his 18pts on 40% 3's. Doesn't positively impact the game (for GSW). Feel bad for him but is what it is.
I would give him 25mil/year as a loyalty bonus, but anything more than that is a no-no. The fact that GS still hasnt extended him probably means they couldnt work out the money.
