    The start of a truly remarkable era. Who would have ever thought 17 years later, we would still get to witness greatness. This game was such a mess, with the after effects of Hurricane Jeanne.

    Insane watching this the night of Big Ben's final home game! Almost 18 years later and here we are! God, makes me feel old! Truly another iconic career. Insane to watch how different the NFL was back then! Here's to Big Ben for 18 years of entertainment! He will be missed but it's a much earned retired!

    When the announcer said it was “hogwash” that Eli was considered thee best draft pick it gave me a big smile. I think as of 2021 it’s CRYSTAL clear that Ben is, was, and always will be the greatest quarterback from that draft.

    • @7Roeth
      @7Roeth Před 2 lety

      I'll place one argument against it, I'm not saying Eli was better, obviously, I'm a huge Ben fan. Eli took down Brady twice in the post season. We never even got to imagine Ben doing it once, in fact every time Ben got to the Patriots in the playoffs, the Steelers were laughed right out of them in embarrassing fashion. Those are just facts.

    • @NM-qo6cd
      @NM-qo6cd Před 2 lety

      @@7Roeth outside of those two playoff runs, would you concede literally the rest of Eli’s career was objectively below average and not even hall of fame worthy?

    • @MightyMattTM
      @MightyMattTM Před 2 lety +1

      @@7Roeth True. But Ben never had a losing season, the Steelers were a perennial playoff team for like 10 years in a row, Ben owns multiple passing records that Eli can only dream about, AND on top of all of that, He made it to 3 SBs, winning 2.
      Eli had 2 above average years where, yes he indeed beat Tom Brady in the SB. Nick Foles also beat TB12 in the SB, so I don't give that much credence. Eli otherwise had below average years with multiple losing seasons. Something Ben can't relate to.

  • @t-jh4236
    @t-jh4236 Před 2 lety +44

    So surreal seeing this footage when Ben was just a baby in the league. As a Steeler fan since Bradshaw's last two seasons Ben was a godsend. So many good Steelers teams without a good QB. Sure we had Neil and he got us there once but Ben's arrival changed everything. What could he have accomplished if that dude Brady had not happened along. Hope Ben and the team finish strong and see him out with at least a playoff appearance.

  • @aaronvictoria9203
    @aaronvictoria9203 Před 2 lety +24

    Of everything that Ben has accomplished, it's rarely acknowledged that, after Tommy Maddox got hurt, he helped the Steelers rattle off 15 straight wins and didn't lose until the AFC Championship...in his rookie year.

    • @7Roeth
      @7Roeth Před 2 lety

      I've never been able to understand the people who hand wave it away by saying Ben had a great defense and running game that carried him. How many veteran QBs have we seen who had a great defense and great running game but couldn't come close to that winning streak?
      I think the real reason Ben doesn't get the credit for what he did in 2004 was that he didn't put up video game numbers that season. Too many people don't know anything but the stat sheets (I blame fantasy football).

Second most yards in a playoff game all time (Ben 501- Brady 503).
      Ben's last 2 playoff games he combined for 84 Completions, 970 yards 9 TDs which is all a NFL Record in a two game span in NFL playoff history. He was the first QB to play in 2 AFC Championships in his first 2 seasons. He's the youngest QB to win a Super bowl and second youngest (Brady was the Youngest) to win his second Super bowl.
      Ben is the second QB to have 3 perfect passer rating games (158.3) in a Career. And only QB to have 2 perfect passer ratings in the same season. Ben is the ONLY QB in NFL HISTORY to have (8) 150+ Passer ratings. Ben is the Only QB to have 20 comeback wins before the age of 30. He also holds the record with 19 comeback wins and 25 game winning drives through the first 7 season of a players career. Ben is one of only a few QBs to ever threw 5 TDs in the first Half of a game. He owns Every steeler record. And Every record for his college team (Miam of Ohio). Ben holds the record for a rookie QB win streak with 27 straight wins, 13 straight wins in College then 14 straight wins in the NFL including Playoffs. And there is so much more. Man look at that defense….they Stayed hit sticking people and talking shit. I love that, they need that shit back. Steelers football, running the ball and smacking people in the mouth on defense.

    So many great players. Offense/Defense....we were stacked. Big Ben just solidified it. Great, amazing linemen. Great backers, and secondary.

    I forgot how dominant that Steelers D was. Hell they had a great o line and great receivers too. No wonder they went 15-1 that season and won the Superbowl the next year.

    First career start in a wet and soggy Miami. He didn't have to do much because the Steelers defense just pummeled A.J. Feely.

    This technically was his first start but the first NFL game he played in was against the Ravens when Tommy Maddox got hurt. I believe he came in and threw 2 Tds and looked pretty good against a strong Ravens defense. That was the only loss the Steelers had that year.

    My older sister worked as an assistant director at a Fox affiliate in DC 25 years ago. Gus Johnson was starting out as the weekend sports anchor. Gus is one of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet.
    Though, when I think of Gus Johnson, I first think of him calling college basketball. "Rise and fire!"
