I love the fact that Cowher told the rookie Roethlisberger to relax, there’s plenty of time to get this score for the win in the 2-minute drill
This probably was a formative experience. Ben would end up being one of the most clutch QBs in the 2 minute drill.
And so it would be, if the Steelers were ever down by a score with just a couple of mins. left in game, I ALWAYS believed Big Ben would come thru & get that W!
I miss #7 already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes we all know how reckless and savage big ben can be……lol
You don’t know jack squat.
Went to this game with my wife, who is a Dallas fan. The crowd that day was almost 50/50. It was unreal. One of the Cowboys was interviewed on the local news that night about it, and he said, “Now we know how the Cardinals feel when we go to Arizona.”
Little did Jim Nantz know he would end up being CBS colleagues with Steelers coach Bill Cowher and Cowboys backup quarterback Tony Romo
The Steelers/Cowboys rivalry always puts in a great show for the world, great find.
The 2020 game between cowboys and steelers was a strong deja vu of this game almost same score and Big Ben leaving the game with a kind of injury man almost the same game.
Facts.
I Was At The 2020 Game.
Least my Steelers got their payback and got the W in Dallas
The Pittsburgh Steelers and playing down to competition; name a better duo
Wish I could lol
3:18 Jim Nantz having trouble with Polamalu like Kendrick Perkins did with Moses Moody
Palamooa😂😂😂🤣🤣😂😂😂
More like Jason Witten with ebukam
I mean why should Nantz care about the name of some second year safety who probably won't do anything in his career....
He'd learn it soon enough.
@@ozfan62x champ, DPOY, 8x pro bowl, 4x first team all pro bowl, 2x second team all pro bowl, fuck is you on, you must really hate him
Steeler fan here...I was there with my best friend, a Cowboys fan. Great game! A Steeler home game, basically 😆
👍
Yep. Even the Cowboys said so after the game.
A very underrated and forgotten rivalry by most except for Steelers and Cowboy fans. Every game it seems like in order to win, one team has to bring their team back in the 4th quarter.
I cant believe how fast the Dallas running backs are.
And Vinny Testaverde has a really accurate arm.
He throws it like a paper airplane, it just glides right in there.
Just to show that his failures in Tampa bay in the 80s weren’t always his fault this was not today’s Tampa Bay this was the Tampa bay that we’re pretty bad
Love how they couldn’t pronounce Troy Polamalu 😂
Well he's some nobody rookie who probably won't do anything in his career anyways...
Well he wasn’t a rookie but I digress
One of greatest players of all time
@@ozfan6 He was a 23 year old 2nd year Safety
@@andreflack1805 jjm
This rivalry is one of the best in NFL history
I would say one of the best rivalries that isn’t in the same division because a rivalry like Steelers vs ravens will always be greater just because they are in the same division
True I wish we played the Steelers more
In super bowls yes
Not even close
The game where I realized Bill Cowher finally had a franchise QB.
One of my favorite days as a Steelers fan who grew up in TX. I was there. Last Steelers/Cowboys game in the old Texas Stadium. SO MANY Steelers fans there the Cowboys were saying post-game they couldn't tell it was a home game. I also remember the Cowboys fans in the stands talking mad smack when they were ahead. As soon as the Steelers got within a TD, they got QUIET. Church mouse quiet.
Steelers fans stayed loud and rowdy throughout and ran the Cowboys fans out of the stadium after the victory.
Ben certainly played a role in this comeback, but just like most games early in his career, the Steelers defense made all the stops to allow for a comeback.
The Cowboys & Steelers games over the recent years have NEVER disappointed. Those games went right down to the wire 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and even last year.
So, just about every 4 years then lol.
@kevinstull8552 No doubt! Can't wait for the game next season lol
@@hollywoodhicks We'll see if Prescott will still be the Cowboys quarterback next season or not.
@@kevinstull8552 True
I miss Texas Stadium, not really a AT&T stadium fan
That lost was the only lost the Steelers had that year and Big Ben had the opportunity to become the first rookie QB to win a super bowl. Unfortunately that opportunity went down the drain when they faced the Pats once again in the AFC Championship.
It came during the game in which Maddox got hurt too. Week 2 or something. The Steelers beat the Pats earlier that season in NE which allow them to have the 1 seed and home field but i think they got to cocky when they face the Pats again for the 2nd time thinking they will win. Fans and even the Steelers themselves didn't expect a blowout 41-27 since the first game was a lot closer.
My bad a lot was wrong. NE actually went to Pittsburgh and lost and it wasn't a close game.
@@supratrd900 I should've clarified, that one loss shown on their record in the beginning.
@@supratrd900 That was an embarrassing time to be a Steelers fan.
@@eugenesatele9434 Kind of but not really but sort of if you remember correctly. It took the Jets kicker Doug O Brien missing a game winner for Pittsburgh to advance to the AFC title game that year. That game should've been an indicator that Pittsburgh was going to lose to the Patriots. The Patriots prior to the rematch embarrassed the league greatest offense at the time Indianapolis 20-3 and embarrassed the league #1 defense (Pittsburgh) the next game. The Steelers 2 SB win in the Big Ben era came when they didn't have to play the Patriots. No Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. The Steelers would've been the modern NFL dynasty instead of the Patriots.
@@supratrd900 Tom Brady really exposed that zone blitz defense Pittsburgh loved to run
Lovely find! Even though we lost that game, it was the beginning of a new era in the nfl
I remember watching this with a friend who was a cowboys fan and said Ben had no chance to win... needless to say I enjoyed this game
Ben doesn’t understand the meaning of no
@@mjf2891 very true
@@mjf2891 I see what you did there
That was some fine sportsmanship between Hines Ward and the defender
You know the game is old when the broadcaster sounds like a fish out of water trying to pronounce Polamalu lol
Plaxico Burress was very underrated with the Steelers and Giants.
Until he shot himself in the leg, accidentally
The Original Antonio Brown....Steelers keep finding them.....just can't show them how to grow up and be a Pro
I'm a Steelers fan, and went to this game. Incredible game to go to! VonOlehoffen rumbling down the sideline.... Steelers fans were going nuts!!!
How many terrible towels did you see on a scale from 1-10?
@@Unknokownuser 8, Cowboys fans told me themselves they couldn't believe how many Steeler fans showed up for that game!
@@lynxlion wow I can’t believe there was that many fans but I’m not surprised Steelers fans travel real well
Had the Cowboys held onto their leads in both the Eagles game in Week 15, the Steelers game in
Week 6, and the week 17 game against the Giants, they would’ve been 9-7 and would’ve had the 5th seed in the NFC playoffs and would’ve faced the Seahawks in the wild card round instead of the Rams…this 2004 Cowboys team was loaded with a mix of young and veteran talent and the team simply underachieved during this year. Even an old Vinny Testaverde was playing pretty well in this season as the Cowboys QB. Too many blown leads and opportunities…
This turned out to be bens way of winning games so dont feel bad cryboy fan hes done it for 18 yrs
Outside of Seattle Green Bay Philadelphia and St. Louis the nfc was very weak
Not a Steelers fan but they’re going completely under the radar this year & will surprise a lot of people when they’re in the playoff mix once again.
Perfect timing for pre season
FOOTBALL IS BACK GUYS!!!
Yessir
6 months ago we had the Super Bowl
Where did time go?
War eagle
Cowher's only visit to Texas Stadium
Keyshawn, Glenn, Testaverde, George, Bettis, Staley, this game feels so 90s
Amen
Ayo big Thanks and respect to Jim nantz for always giving us great football games all these years. Wouldn’t be the same without his voice on sundays.
October 17, 2004, the day this game took place, was two days before the very day I was born...
I refuse to believe that this was in HD back in 2004. Either that or the screen was widened to fit the screen
Yeah they stretched 4:3 to 16:9
HDTV has been around since 1998 technically. But didn't catch on until the mid late 2000s.
FOOTBALL IS BACK BABY!!!!!
The young 🐐🐐🐐
That was a special season. Big Ben was slingin’ it, O-line blocked hard, the Duece Staley was a wrecking ball & the WRs did all they could to catch & run hard. You can see the effort.
Ben Roethlisberger just doesn’t take no for an answer.
Rip terry glenn
That game was played in Irving Texas but that was a Steelers home game
Our fan base took over that parking lot and the stadium, the Cowboys players were pissed.
At times Vinny actually had to use a silent count in the shotgun.
👍
Yes we did take over. Tailgating and all. The local news said it was embarrassing because so many Steelers fans were there. It looked almost like a Home game. My son and I loved it. We enjoyed eating and drinking with all the Steelers fans.
Greatest AFC/NFC and Super Bowl rivals
I remember this game
Damn Ben was Lean, in his rookie season.
Ben was an athletic freak his first few years.
Hey NFL Throwback, just wondering if you got around to making highlights of that 1987 Cardinals Buccaneers game? Not tryna be annoying... 👉👈
I’ve been meaning to tell you! I got it but it’s missing the first quarter on the tapes I have so gotta track that down
@@NFLVault ok sounds great! Thanks again!

Let gooooo another banger throwback game
Was at that game! 50% were Steelers fan!
1 hour till kickoff baby!!
I forgot how Duce Staley was balling with The Steelers...
Steelers first win over the Cowboys since 1988.
Man, I'm always a little depressed when I see Parcells with the Cowboys. Jerry Jones lost patience with him and he had to deal with a headache named T.O. a couple years after this game. He waited too long to pull the trigger on Romo (and i'm not making that up as Dat Nguyen said in an article that he had conversations with Parcells where he said that was his biggest regret in Dallas) and lastly, the game was starting to pass him by. That said, it's kinda cool how you got connections all over the place as Cowher would end up being a CBS colleague of Nantz and Romo would end up becoming his color guy and changing the way an analyst functions on broadcasts (sometimes not all positively IMO)
That guy Troy Polamua looks like he’s going to be special.
Jim Nantz: Troy Pola - Polumuaa??
🤣🤣🤣
The good old days before targeting even though I still love the current NFL and my Packers!
Man I miss these days
Great editing.
Ben was soo good.
My son and I were at that game. We predicted Testaverde would be sacked and fumble for us to win the game.
Miss this era
2004 a great year
Polamalu. That dude was ridiculous. As was Ben.
Will you be uploading the rest of Cowboys Hard Knocks?
You don't see that type of physicality in the nfl anymore dam rule changes it's so crazy watching how physical it was seeing no flags thrown 😱
I wouldn't exactly say that's a clutch comeback, but it was a great game. I've been a Steelers fan since the early 90s and boy do I miss some of those great teams they had. I look forward to their future and who will be their starting quarterback next year. Ben, we love you! See you in the HOF!
Wish I was this old again ...
Who would have thought at the time Big Ben would still be going strong on the same team 17 years later . And the cowboys have had a grand total of 1 playoff win since this game. The cowboys have had the most mediocre team in pro football the last 20 years literally right on the dot. I’m a Steelers fan and I never understood why the media hates Big Ben so much his career has definitely been downplayed for years now. No question a top 10 QB in history by stats alone!!!
Deuce Staley was an absolute STUD in this game, helping a Rookie QB. Must have been left over malice from Eagles/Cowboys. Deuce......Really Solid Pro!
Antwaan saving that Ike fumble in the 3rd quarter was incredible hustle
Wow I had no idea Eddie George played for the cowboys. Terrance Newman Duce Staley and terry glenn were all underrated players in this game. Wow this game is EARRIELY similar to the game just last year in 2020 strange.
3:18 so weird hearing an announcer not being able to pronounce his last name correctly
49 of these later and here we are.
COACH COWHER SUCH A GREAT COACH SURE WISH WE HAD HIM BACK AND WISH HE COULD HAVE COACHED BEN LONGER THAN 3 YEARS
I was at that game. What a great finish
I do not remember Eddie George playing for Dallas, not in the least.
Imo this Steelers team was better than 2005 sb winner
The late Mr. Terry Glenn. RIP.
When football was actually football. Sad to see football turn into the WWE.
He played against vinny T! Spanning eras here
ohhhhhh im a cowboooooy . wish they had music like that today when they score
The good old days
damn I remember these terrible times as a cowboys fan. Testaverde lol
Year 2 Polamalu was still everywhere
How do you not love Kimo Von Olhaufen??? The big fat belly, the hair, jersey number 67….best kind of lineman
He tore Palmers acl
I like how last week they show a Cowboys-Steelers game where Dallas wins and this week they show a game where baby face Roethlisberger helps beat Dallas.
Gotta keep both blue bloods happy lmao
Ben was a bill parcels type of Quarterback

Steelers fans: how special would it have been for our team to win it all this season? Yes, we did win it the next season for Jerome’s final season but winning it during bens rookie run would’ve been incredible.
Imo 05 team was better
If the Pats were not spying on us, we would have gone to the SuperBowl. Even the Steelers said it felt like they knew exactly what we were going to do.
@@ericsigersmith2831 nah I think the Steelers were better in 04’. Especially given many more teams in the afc being better in 05’. Big Ben was on a mission in 04’.
@@mariosnum1fanI felt like he was more on a mission in 05 compared to 04, he needed his get back and it happened in that bears game when they entered 7-5 against them, pedal to the medal for the title despite Ben not playing that well in that Super Bowl
Where's the HD broadcast
Testerverde has one of the pretty balls in nfl history not even kidding I know he's no fall of famer. But that ball just comes out perfect everytime.
We should have won number 6 and went back to back steeler nation

This wasn’t a night game was it? I was 8 during this game and I kinda remember it. But I also remember being dark out. Just wondering…
It was a 3:30 game and when it ended around 7, it was dark out...
Vinny did the best he could that year.
A Fullback. Huh.
