  • Momma Badger wanted new Saddlebags for her 2005 softail Harley Davidson Fatboy Motorcycle, after looking around for a while we found these Hard Bags and Mounting Brackets amzn.to/2ZKhXvd you can get them with chrome or black handles and brackets.
When adding these bags or most any bags to a softail you must relocate the turning signals, we removed the factory turn signals and installed and all in one tail light. amzn.to/3FLQmMg

  • @g2rich

I added these to my 2004 Fatboy and I ended up using the saddlebags BUT I replaced the frames with those from California Cycle Works, what they call their Bagger tail conversion. The biggest difference is that the left and right saddlebag frames connect to each other via a crossover that goes inside and under the rear fender. Basically the frames come in two pieces for each side and they bolt together together with the crossover support (which keeps the saddlebags from bouncing around) with two bolts on each side. Like Mama Badger’s bike I installed an all in one taillight and turn signal unit but I paid $240 for the one from Custom Dynamics which is all LED and still allows you to connect external turn signals if you want them as I am going with the Harley style saddlebag turn signals once I have the bags panted to match the 2004 smoky gold and vivid black factory paint scheme on the bike.

Just and FYI....if you don't mind doing a little fabricating and are handy with a welder, these brackets and bags will work with pretty much any bike. I have the same set up on my Honda VTX and the look factory. Had to move some of the tabs (aka cut and reweld) around a little, but it really wasn't a lot of drama. Great, cheap way to get a set of quality hard bags on any bike.

@@ernestwolanicki4923 made some brackets out of plate steel and welded them to the existing bracket. Honestly...you'll have to fiddle with them a bit until you find a position you like. I set my bags and down a couple of inches, so they'd still leave plenty of room for the passenger. I narrowed my bag brackets about an inch and a half, to bring the bags in closer to the bike, as well

Never owned an Ultra Classic have ridden a bunch since I worked at a Harley Dealership for a few years. It really depends on the application since my wife rides her own and we don't do long distance 2 up the fatboy is perfect. It is lighter, way more agile and if you like to travel there is no telling where you might end up, or the situations you may face, so the lighter bike is way better for us. If riding 2 up you can't beat the ultra for comfort for the passenger.

My question is, why don't cha just get a Road Glide, are something that comes with all those extras? The Fat Boy is a unique bike all by it's self. Just asking?. MAGA🇺🇸😎

lol because I don’t want a road glide different frame, different feel altogether. The whole point is making the bike yours. I did a video a few days ago about why we ride Fatboys watch that maybe it will help you understand. Kinda like buying a road glide then doing motor work to make it faster why not just buy a crotch rocket that’s already fast??

@@TheBadgers There isn't any real important point here , I guess. Except this is America, and ya can change yre machine how ever you see fit. Over the yrs I've done this or that to mine. I was just merely asking. And politics???🇺🇸😎

Does the footpeg mount go behind the frame and you need a longer screw with a nut?

    • @TheBadgers

I do have mine mounted behind the frame, but you could probably do either, I already had a nut on the back of mine.
