Wolves Soft Tournament - Rules Part 1: Duels 5/6/2024

Format Summary:
Each stout blow to the legal strike area of the opponent body will score.
- A blow is considered stout if it was clear and deliberate, and the opponent
failed to counter it with a defensive action.
“Technical win” in the following cases:
- If an opponent gets two (2) Yellow cards (warnings) or Red card (disqualification).
- Opponent Withdraws
- If the opponent cannot continue fighting because of an “accidental
injury” not caused by a violation of rules.
Sword & Buckler:
Each fight consists of three rounds. Each round is continued until one of the
fighters has scored five (5) points. Rounds cannot be longer than one minute.
- Best out of 3 rounds wins.
- In case of a tie, extra rounds up to 5 total can be taken. If still a tie, go to sudden death round first hit wins.
- In a “Technical win” scenario a score 2-0 is awarded.
Sword & Shield:
A fight consists of two 60-second rounds with a 30-second break in between.
The fighter who scores the most points wins.
- If score difference within 2 points, go to extra round of 30 seconds to maximum of 5 total rounds.
- Head and Torso hits score 2 points.
- Limbs score 1 point.
- In a “Technical win” scenario a score 10-0 is awarded.
Longsword:
A fight consists of two 60-second rounds with a 30-second break in between.
The fighter who scores the most points wins.
- If score difference within 2 points, go to extra round of 30 seconds to maximum of 5 total rounds.
- Head and Torso hits score 2 points.
- Limbs score 1 point.
- Hits with sword 1-handed are 1 point anywhere.
- In a “Technical win” scenario a score 10-0 is awarded.
Polearm:
A fight consists of two 60-second rounds with a 30-second break in between.
The fighter who scores the most points wins.
- If score difference within 2 points, go to extra round of 30 seconds to maximum of 5 total rounds.
- All hits score 1 Point
- In a “Technical win” scenario a score 10-0 is awarded.

The Western Wolves are an up and coming Armoured Combat team. We compete in full contact steel fighting using blunted steel weaponry and participate in various types of fights including Buhurt (team fights), pro fighting (1 v 1 fights like MMA), weapon specific duelling, and mass battles. On top of that we will seek out other competition formats with the goal to further our member's skill and knowledge of the medieval combat arts.
We train weekly and run sessions for Armoured Combat Sports and HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) at our dedicated gym in Ballarat.
We are even running classes for KIDS with soft equipment every Friday.
We participate in local tournaments and travel abroad, with some of our members having represented the Australia wearing the Green and Gold at the World Championships!
