I do agree with Infantamay 92, and it is noticeable that whoever inserted the lyrics picked them up at the point where she suddenly becomes legible. However, I love Katherine's version, which adds colour to this beautiful tune that becomes dull and pedestrian in the hands of most choirs. Just listen to the other versions on this page - and try to stay awake !
I didn't have any trouble understanding the words, but for anyone who does, the words are readily available in most hymn books. You know, those things people who go to church use!
Come on, you dear critics. Be fair, if you can. Jenkins sings well, of course, and perhaps she does bring an operatic style to the hymn. Some of the words are slightly archaic - and she can hardly be blamed for this!
Ohh she is soo beautiful. Im a oyung guy and so sick and tired of the way women act today, just in ur face, loud and extra, so easy and with no standards. As a teenager I never thought about this, but now I realize that less is more. Women that have standards and r proper dignified is so much more attractive. Proper Lady like and thats everything what Katherine Jenkins is. Shes probably the only famous celeb I know in UK that holds these Ideals and virtues, I really dont know any others.
I have to agree that diction was poor in this performance. As a classical singer myself, you can immediately notice that her sound was far too in the back of her throat, covering up a certain brightness in tonality that this hymn requires. She was probably trying to compensate for the fact that the song in some parts was a little low for her, and thus forced her sound back. Otherwise, it was a beautiful performance, mainly thanks to the hymn itself.
Why barrage someone with rude and aggressive comments when they are just voicing their opinion in a harmless way? I know the words to this song and struggled to tell what she was singing, great voice, but poor diction in this performance and it seems many other commenters agree. It's ok to like someone or something but not like a performance or something that they do. Not being perfect is one of the great things in humanity and it's people like you that force people to feel they have to be
@ClassicalRelated Such good English! ....I wouldn't have thought, that you'd know words like 'nitwits'' lol... nor would I have know you were Dutch, if you hadn't mentioned your nationality. I agree with you and you seem like a nice person. :)
Who needs Covent garden .She has made it on her own ,Opera would not exist without handouts .Katherine is bigger than 99% of opera stars ,anyway who cares.

I'm sorry, but her `classical' voice is so affected, I can't tell what she's singing either. I defy anyone who doesn't already know the words, to make them out from this performance.
Beautiful God Thank You For The Beautiful Voice and For The Beautiful Vibration Of Your Love To Warm Us In The Beauty Of Your Love amen

I although a good singer would welcome her voice and beauty.

In my professional opinion you can't get better looking that this. Perfection.

I agree... and she keeps pursing her lips. I can't watch her, but then I realize I can't understand her either.

I'll bet her spelling and ounctuation is not too bad, though!
GOD,WHAT A NOISE,I,LL STICK WITH GUNS AND ROESES !
I always liked KJ but in my opinion she has ruined this my favourite hymn...far too nasal!

this make up is really not good
Horrible! Absolutely horrible.! Pure BBC slush. Poor Parry must be spinning in his grave.
+John S Wood (Lignator) You obviously don't know beauty!
Suggest a better recording?
This is a dirge but there is a better tune (Rest)
