- Here is a first look at Cat's brand new 918M wheel loader. This machine will be coming out around September of 2016. I was given the machine for a week to use and provide feedback on it. It is supposed to compete with the wheel loaders I operate in the winter. It gets 2 thumbs up from me. I liked it. Like what you see? Nice vid.
FYI: A new feature they added for the battery disconnect switch @ 6:19 is that the key can now be removed before the machine finishes the fluid cycle (for those in a hurry) and the light is still on. At that point, the machine will automagically finish the cycle for you and then disconnect the power. Cool(ing down) beans! HA (I believe this carries across on the whole line of loaders, but u would need to verify with Cat/dealer to be certain.)
Very Nice, Tom. We had a Cat 918F at our concrete plant as a backup to our 936E. It was a very good machine and I don't recall any major problem with it, we even had it out on a couple of the MDOT jobs we had mostly for cleanup and light work.

I think you missed that one on the master disconnect and the DEf purge system.. It has a 80 second delay to purge the fluid I think..

Just for info...@ 13:44, that is actually the creeper control. Once it's switched on it control the speed of the machine. The creeper control lets you run the engine at high revs to run the implements and work tools, but limits the ground speed.

Do you think before you get rid of it you could make a video of it digging on a test site? I want to know what the thing sounds like when it's moving. The 1/16 scale model of the cat vibratory soil compactor I have has the same engine. And I haven't actually heard one in action before.

Is the self leveling bucket system a option or is it standard because for some reason it's not working on my 918m? Thanks
It seems the like the bucket is rather small, it looks like its smaller then the bucket we got on a 908M we just recived lately, or is that just me? :)
+Nikolai 98 I agree the bucket looks small but it is not. I think its just the shape. Its 2.5 yards. It fills my tri-axle very quick.

+B. Lemire Hello, I am a salesman for CAT dealer in Canada, your local dealer can now get you a price as the "pricing pages" were just released. We here are very excited about the launch of this Machine as it fits nicely between the 908M and the 926M. Initially there will be only the standard lift, however the high lift version will come out soon after in 2017, a date has not yet been set for that.

To anyone who would want to buy one don’t, they are total junk the wiring harnesses give tons of issues. We have 2 and all they are is problems. Maybe new ones are better but the k series isn’t
what year machines does the company you work for have?
Ambient 2016 914K series but in the many times Cat mechanics came out they said the 910,914, and 918 are all the same
