Im not African American, but I was an ignorant/immature/blind young man with over confidence and a ridiculously big ego. I woke up one day and grew up eventually but it was only after I spent a lot of time alone. I think all of those things I mention kind of "fog" your brain. Like I just couldn't see myself for who I was. Some people come to a self realisation faster than others. I changed my environment and that saved me from an early death or prison. No one could of helped me. but I hit bottom, all of my "homies" left, and that saved me. I have panic attacks when I remeber some of my actions. Its like lookin at yourself doing incredibly stupid, dangerous, and dark things. With no thoughts or cares about the future. It scares me that I am looking back at myself. This is an incredibly important question you ask. And thats the best answer I got. The culture that American youth look up to have an impact. Thats just a fact. But its the environment above all. I make no excuses for my dumbass. But I have to include how I got to be who I was. But this isn't about me. This is just something I think has alot to do with my generation. I would of rather had respect from strangers, and have this "tough guy" persona, than spend time with the people that love me for me.
