I agree that it’s somewhat an excuse and I was heavy in that lifestyle more so on the hustling side than the gang shit that was my older brother but even then I’m sure you understand the street dynamics and why so many struggle to get out. I’m gonna keep it all the way 100, at the time I didn’t really realise it I was just young and reckless (although I’m still young) but if I never had an older brother who was well respected for the work he put in I may have had to go down that path like many that didn’t have older brothers who didn’t keep them away from the gang shit.
Also I’m sure you know of people who lost close ones in the life, that shit can drag people into that life, as much as I hate to admit it but if something had happened to my brother I wouldn’t give a fuck about anything else but inflicting as much harm as possible to those responsible for it.

I visited Chicago in the summer of '19. Before I went there, I thought it was some small rinky dink Midwest town. When I got there and saw how big and beautiful it actually is, I was dumbfounded. I was in amazement, because I had no idea. That place is twice the size of my city. I say all of this to say, I fell in love with that city. But with so much violence there, it makes me scared to EVER return there. I thought it was just the Southside. But when FBG Duck got killed in the Gold Coast (I'd assume is one of the safer areas of that city), I was like I'm good until folks make a change there. Sad, man because Chicago is an amazing place.
