Walmart batteries are pretty solid. Not sure if i'd call them the best on the market however I love the no hassle warranty associated with them. More or less a no questions asked here's another one-scenario most of the time. Also if you're on a road trip and the battery fails I've found its easier to find a Walmart than a specific auto parts store. Keep up the great work!

You should get brass terminals over lead. There's some types tht are coated in gold for better connectivity. Also good idea to do the big 3 upgrade to all your vehicles as well. It's a stereo system upgrade to better your own power output. It never hurts to have more grounds.

I watch all your stuff, but im having a hard time believing those terminal lugs didnt just fall off the next day. Im trying to do exactly this with my WJ and my wires look great, clean, good solder, flux, and the solder simply will not stick whatsoever to the copper cable. At all. I can touch the lug after it cools and it falls off with the shape of the wire in the solder, inside the lug...but wont put the two together. Never had this problem with any other copper wire.

Dielectric grease doesn't conduct electricity, it is an insulator. I see debate that it is better to put the wire terminals onto the cleaned up battery posts bare then add the grease outside as a water repellent so no corrosion forms.
Argument is that grease sat between the wire terminal and battery post will increase resistance , lower current flow and reduce charging efficiency but counter argument is it keeps air out :s - internet's always fighting...
In my mind its same as using dielectric grease on spark plug boots I guess where you dont want it on the electrical contact surfaces - just the rubber boot to plug ceramic contact.
Be interesting to test if any difference in readings for battery with both methods.

Agree that Optima batteries are CRAP! You really blew the proof of a working alternator. On newer vehicles, your process will cause all sorts of issues. Also, a bad alternator could possibly provide enough current to run a car at idle. You had a Multi-meter and you know how to use it. All you needed to do is show the current the alternator was putting out.
