I'm hoping this is my issue. I've had my oven for 17 years, and it's always worked flawlessly until recently. One evening recently I turned it on and it just wouldn't light. I smelled gas for a bit there too. Since then, I've not even smelled any gas. The ignitor does glow orange, but it looks like only one side of it is glowing. I've never bothered to look down there before, so I have no frame of reference. Now the problem is waiting for part delivery. 😒
Bummer, I hope the new igniter fixes the issue. Sounds like that's the problem though 👍
@@JonnyDIY Yes, it certainly seems that way; I am hopeful! The ignitor looks like it's been through a world War. And rightly so, it's been around long enough for a human to be born and recognized as an adult!
Update, I received and installed my new ignitor, and it was like magic - the gas valve opened up and the oven fired up!! Now I might be able to keep my oven for another 18 years. If that happens, I'll be 58!

How do u turn down the oven burner
Not sure this one just controlled by panel. Might be a valve adjustment not quite sure

You're welcome. Yes it turns on and off as it has to relight the burner to regulate the temperature when baking 👍

The one on my Maytag oven has been getting slower to light. The first time I use it for the day it might take 4-5 minutes before it lights, even though the igniter is glowing. After that initial light it doesn't take that long while maintaining temp or if I turn the oven off and back on. Might it still be a weak igniter? It is 20 years old. How does the signal get back to indicate it's hot enough to light? Is it part of the igniter assembly?
Yes that most definitely sounds like the igniter starting to fail. It should take at most less than a minute or minute and half to light. I would replace. And it being 20 years old is about when they go out 👍 If it doesn't get hot enough the gas won't open as well
@@JonnyDIY I gave it a try and replaced it. It absolutely solved the problem! The new igniter lights up so fast and the gas comes on in less than 30 seconds! The oven looked exactly the same as yours (mine is a slide-in Maytag). Glad I didn't have to pull out the oven!

Hello. I'm not getting 110v to igniter? My igniter is good and i can hear relays clicking. Hoping you can help....thank you.
I would trace it back to the control panel and see if it's getting power there. Then you can test relay. Sometimes have to replace panel
I opened it up and started the stove but the coil never heated. I am assuming that the problem is still the same, its just the coil is faulty instead of the switch.
Or could it be something else?

I changed and it still doesn't work...
Can test if its gettinf power to the igniter, if not will have to trace back to the board. Hopefully just bad wiring or even a bad replacement part. Sometimes theyre bad out of box
@JonnyDIY I changed the ignitor ,the heat sensor, the board ,the gas valve everything and it still just gets to the point where the gas should flame on but it doesn't.
