I can’t tell you how grateful I am to this video you saved a single girl hundreds of dollars me and my uncle did this with your CZcams video and the part was $69. Super grateful!!

VERY THOROUGH and easy to follow tutorial...I'm 99.9% certain that I've got a bad igniter, and that's what's causing the oven to NOT fire up! TomorrowI turn 71 years old and I've ALWAYS loved taking broken things apart and fixing them... so tomorrow, I'll ride down to where my Dad RIP, bought the Frigidaire oven back in 2013, and with OLD igniter in hand, buy a NEW one, install it and if the stars are in alignment, I might ACTUALLY hear a, "GOOD JOB GARY!" from my dear wife! (I WON'T however, bet my pristine Muststang GT on that utterance occuring!) Thanks again Jonny DIY for the great video!

Tired of replacing these igniters seems they only last a month

You're a natural teacher and have helped me a great deal to fix my old oven. Thank you for your excellent visual and verbal instructions.

Thank you so much ! You saved me a $500 repair bill

Thank you for this informative video. I have about two yeas of tinkering with washers and dryers, but I haven't worked on ranges at all. I'm preparing to do a similar job, so I wanted to get eyes on the disassembly and part replacement. I really appreciate your attention to detail. If I may, I'd like to point out that the igniter fails not because it doesn't get hot enough, but because it goes out of spec. As the igniter heats up, its resistance drops, thus it's amperage increases. In order to heat the bimetal in the gas valve it needs to reach a certain current (3.3 amps in valves that I have seen) in order to flex the gas valve bimetal which opens the gas valve. Just a little tidbit I thought I would pass on. So, you can see an igniter glowing and not lighting because its resistance hasn't decreased enough for the current to reach the specified amperage. That being said, I want to thank you for showing me how to execute this operation!

My oven pilot light is on but won’t heat up just warm

  • @avavictoriasongbird

Yep....will not work with regular bleach. I'm off to the hardware store for the advised bleach

  • @highhemp8448

Is the ignitor supposed to stay on after the flame is lit?

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!!! Your instructions were crystal clear and super easy to follow. Thank goodness I didn’t have to splice wires. Mine was a click in…cut my hands up because I was silly and didn’t wear gloves but it was so worth it!!! You saved me so much money that I didn’t have and I know $10 is not a lot to some people but I needed to show my gratitude in some small way. Again, thank you😁🥰

Very clear, very well organized. Somebody else said you were a natural teacher, I second that.

Jonny...Couple helping comments for Whirlpool. Hardest part was running igniter cable through insulation to connection on the back of the range. There's a small plate that covers the gas orifice inside the oven. Remove the one screw and plate. Don't remove defective cable and igniter at first so you can use it to help run new cable through.

watched your video and then did it myself and it worked! even had to splice the wires, but was able to do so after watching you. thanks so much!

  • @maydavalle

So interesting to watch you fix the connector wire. Thanks for some of the helpful info for a mom & daughter trying to troubleshoot why the pilot on our stove isn’t working.

Great video as always. A little tip for those two wires coming off the ignitor. Some heat shrink tubing will add extra protection against those sharp edges. Thanks and have a wonderful weekend.

  • @magdalenagerwel3296

Thank you so much. Your video helped me replace igniter in my oven. It only took 10 minutes!!

  • @brendarhodes6338

Wow that was very clear instructions!! I don’t know if I could actually fix it myself but your demonstration was so organized & easy to follow!

  • @mattsuserid

Totally worked for me, had this exact problem in my 790 Kenmore! Thanks so much for posting, very simple fix. I do want to double down on how fragile the heating element is, don't touch the coil part at all if you can help it. Better ones have a shield to keep it safe.

  • @DJLIBERATORE7

Great video. You quickly and accurately identified and described the problem. You did the same with the fix! I'm now a subscriber and plan to watch all of your videos. Really great job. Thanks for taking the time!
