My mother is legit like that, so cheap she's convinced herself she's nearly broke when in reality she's very well off. She could/should be traveling the world, eating at nice restaurants and staying in nice hotels, instead she eats TV dinners and watches free steaming TV at home every night because "everything costs too much"...old habits die hard.

The eCVT is entirely different to a CVT and a marvel of engineering.

The eCVT is way better than the old traditional cvt, picks up more when taking off. Can never go wrong with a toyota

The naturally aspirated SkyActiv 2.5 in my '23 CX-5 is averaging 28 MPG. 26 in town and 32 on the highway. I'm loving it for the style, handling, AWD and is fun to drive!
My wife wanted a new Prius. I showed her the Corolla Cross is the same but more room in the backseat. She's sold on the Cross!

I have a 2013 Chevy volt I swear the Prius looks the same. I’ve had it for a year. I’ve put 38,000 miles on it one year. zero issues and mine was only $8000 and I got a tax credit so I will take my Volt all day long! If Chevy was smart, it would bring back the volt.
Hey Scotty, My wife bought
a 2017 Mazda 3 Touring Hatchback in late 2018 from a military officer that was being transfered.
She's been very happy with it! She kept her 2007 Yaris which drives like the day we bought it new in 2007.
It has 167k miles. Never any problems.
I'm still driving my 2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder. It has 137k. I bought it in 2005. Im also driving my 2002 Jeep Liberty. I use it to take my lawn tractor up to our country place. 168k and drives pretty good. Could use new shocks and bushings. I bought the Jeep in 2005. It had 17k. Two problems was the AC compressor. I just fill it with freon as needed. The other problem is the clear coat started coming off. It looks terrible. It doesn't matter since it still serves its purpose. My next vehicle will either be a Toyota or a Lexus.
Im still going to keep the MR2 Spyder. Its always reliable and fun to drive! Both my wife and I love your channel and the info you provide!

Gotta say scotty, I am a new viewer and I’ve been loving the videos, just wondering if you have heard of a Canadian company called Edison Motors that is making hybrid diesel trucks (specifically a semi first then kits for pickup trucks), if so I feel that many would love to hear your thoughts on the subject

Sounds great Scotty. What do you think about the Toyota Corolla hybrid. I own a 2022. Please do a video on that car. If you haven’t already don’t that. I get 56.7 MPG average mileage. I think now a days is great. I also own a 2016 Silverado LTZ and it stays in the garage mostly.

It’s highly recommended to have your new Toyota hybrid cars serviced at Toyota main dealers to maintain their 10-Year battery warranty. Their dealers aren’t all that expensive and they provide an excellent customer service experience.
Noises are important, I liked so much the noise of old sewing machine older Porsche 911 used to make😂

I love my 2016.5 CX5. Got it new in 2017. It has 60k miles, I change the oil every 5k, and it runs like new and doesn't burn oil. It's a naturally aspirated 2.5 with a 6 speed automatic and gets about 25 mpg average. Newer Mazda non-turbos are excellent.
I'm not ready to turn in my 2017 Toyota Yaris Hatchback SE with 76,000 km (47,000) miles on it. It also comes with the 5-speed anti theft protection. Hehe. I also love the variable valve timing, and not quite ready for a CVT transmission. Thanks again for a great video and your valuable input.

I'm torn because I want to finally get a new ford 4x4 f-150 to replace my 2 wheel drive. Problem is I just keep finding story after story about how all 3 American pickup truck manufacturers have basically dropped the ball in the quality department. Thinking about just tossing in the towel and maybe getting a camry or a frontier.

I think the new Prius is adorable & very good looking. I still prefer more ground clearance, sitting up higher (Corolla Cross hybrid). Beware if you are very tall though. The low sloping front windshield cuts close for tall drivers I think. I’m a huge fan of Mazda CX5, too!

I had a 2007 MX6 MPS, 2.3L turbo here in the UK and those engines would burn oil for fun, especially noticeable when stationary after a long run. Something to do with the PCV system I believe. If you took it into a Mazda dealer they would change the turbo but that wasn't a fix. A guy in the forums figured out a problem with the PCV valve and manufactured a new banjo bolt with a restricted hole, that reduced the problem but wasn't a total fix

Scotty, I’ve had two Toyota Camry hybrids the first one I had to replace the hybrid battery at 140,000 miles which cost me $9000 at the dealer in Honolulu the second one the battery went at 60,000 miles which was under warranty thank God. These hybrid batteries do not last that long.
Toyota does like 300k MILES warrenty on their batteries if you take it to a yearly checkup (where i live anyway)
How you can argue that these dont last is beyond me, they trust the product clearly.
In Denmark they are yet to see A SINGLE failure of these units.
Seems like you'v bought a lemon, suck at maintaining the battery (yes they need maintenance)
or just plain bad luck.

We have the same issue with toyota hybrid batteries in my country Sri Lanka. Perhaps tropical climate has something to do with it. 60k miles typical life.
@@sunilayya8948 Yes, that’s a good observation. Maybe it’s the heat. The regular lead acid batteries also don’t last more than 3 years in Hawaii.
My 2016 Toyota Avalon has almost 200k and it still has it’s original hybrid battery

I don't drive anymore and I can't walk very Good, but My Best Friend has a Smart Car with The Atkison Engine The only problem My Walker won't go in it, but Maybe I can ride in it some day.
I'm glad to see that a Prius is in the list. My brother just got a 2016 Prius for 8k with 150k miles and hopefully it will last double that. The mpg is just too good.

Scotty you should check out the 2024 honda accord hybrid train... The transmission and hybrid system completely outclasses what toyota has to offer...
My 2017 Prius is the best car I've ever owned. And I've owned a lot of cars. Reliable, fuel efficient, quiet, trouble free, and it's depreciated only $6k in 7 years.
Even if it's a Toyota I still don't want a hybrid. Now that Corolla hatchback with the manual transmission is very interesting.

I thought the same thing. Someone came to my house in a hybrid and I said to them hey there’s something wrong with you car. They asked why? I said it’s making a terrible noise.. they said that’s how it’s supposed to sound. I was convinced it was broken and they didn’t understand what I was saying but I guess it really it how they were made
The real kicker is that the Prius was never truly ugly besides maybe the first generation. The 3rd generation is really sexy looking, especially in that Barcelona Red paint. Bonus points if the windows are tinted jet black along with that bright red paint. 🥵

My Alfa romeo Giulietta is fine so far. I bought it 6 months ago from german first owner with 60 000 miles. Will get rid of it when it hits 120 and probably get alast generation Mazda 3 or Honda Civic with a manual transmission.
GR Corolla comes with a manual transmission and AWD. I'd rather get that than the standard Corolla hatchback.
Only problem is the ridiculous markup you are likely to pay.
The GR Corolla is not an everyday car.
Mazda Cx-5 is the only car where I've seen the suspension springs break.

Scotty, I am from Ireland -I love your UTube videos -I bought my wife a 2019 Toyota Corolla which she loves but the “Bluetooth “ has failed to operate which is not under guarantee -cost of repair quoted is E2560 which I don’t want to pay . I loved my 2010 Prius LE. Tree fell over and I ran into it. I'm probably replacing it with a 2024 RAV4 hybrid.
I agree that they should standardize the EV sound. It should be the sound of the Jetson’s flying car.
A Tesla backed into a parking space next to me a few months ago and the owner had set the backup sound to be exactly that-- the Jetson's car sound! There is actually a "fart" sound that you can program, too.
Just announced Toyota changes sound to Van Halen Panama lol this would be great

Whenever I see these videos and comments I feel out of place. I opted for the all gas 24’ Corolla SE because I just trust the all gas vs the hybrid. I also mostly drive highway.
Please do a video on the CIRCULAR LOGIC engines such as those in big dodge pickups. Nothing on intranet!

Hey Scotty! I was researching most reliable cars to buy and found your channel. I purchased a 2017 Ford Escape and it’s had nothing but problems with the motor along with two recalls. It’s not running currently because it needs a new motor but I’m still making payments on it. We’re now looking into something durable, reliable and has room in the trunk for my daughter’s wheelchair. I don’t want to spend a fortune. Any recommendations would be appreciated

220k miles on my Prius, other than general maintenance no issues. 50 to 55 miles per gallon is typical.

E-CVT is very different that regular CVT
No hybrid is slow current Prius rides a little funny and noisier than the 2016 but they are definitely zippy but that’s not the point the point is fuel economy practicality and dependability
I got in one of these priuses in a dealership. I couldn't see sh**! It's freaking tight in there.

2020 CX5-Turbo.. returned in 3 days.. blown rear seal? More common or a random lemon. Swapped to a 2.5 2020 corsair.. Concerned about those ecoboost oil blowby.. but did not see those roof leaks. What gen escapes have all these issues?
Stay away from the Turbo. Mazda 2.5 Nom-Turbo is bulletproof though.
@@sentinurse Thats what I thought.. Reviews of the non-turbo suggest its got anemic performance. Never tried the hybrid but feel like once u get away from Toyota hybrid its a gamble from longevity..

We’ve had a CX-5 since 2017 and it’s rock solid after 76K miles. I also own a 2005 Mazda5 with 200,000 miles on it and the only thing I’ve had to repair outside of routine maintenance is replace the heater blower motor.

I bought a 2022 Corolla Hatch with manual. Slammed it with BC coil overs. Avid rims. Dark tint. Exhaust system.
Only has 6k on it.
When I pay it off, 11k to go, I’m going to try to get about 30 more HP out of the motor. Any suggestions?
Edit: I get modifying it will ensure it won’t last as long. I don’t need it to last forever though, that’s what my 2023 Tacoma Off Road is for. Stick hatch is for fun.

People sleep on Mazdas. They're fun cars and I think the SkyActive tech [which some Toyotas have too] is pretty interesting and cool.
I have a 2016 CX-3, although it is too small [because it's a CX "THREE", not a 5, 70, 90, etc] and lacks some storage space [armrest is ridiculous and has no compartment], it's nice as hell, seats are beautiful, drives nice, looks nice. I love it.

48 MPG is definitely good.
But my 1999 Saturn got 39 MPG on the hiway.
No hybrid.

That was a quarter century ago.
I realize that the physics doesn't allow ICE engines to ever reach a 100MPG in a 5 person passenger car.....but you would think that the evolving technology would result in 50 MPG?

Toyota Starlet from the 80s used to claim 54mpg but was a tiny 2 door hatchback and a manual 5 speed. All the government regulations made it stop being made.

That 2024 Prius! 🥰🤘🏿 I own a 2017 Prius, and I love it, would love to drive it to 500k. But that sun roof on the 2024 Prius Prime XSE Premium has me in a vice grip. I try to drive my car more to appreciate what I have lol! 😅
So I have been looking for a used Jeep Renegade and all of them have well over 100k miles, even up to 195k! You might want to rethink your opinion of them

Oh no that Prius droning noise is an immediate no for me! Scotty talking about it not noisy that’s not what i heard! It was too damn buzzy for my taste
