      Watkins wouldn’t score as many goals if almost every week he had to play a deep defensive line. He would have hardly any room to pass the ball for those assists, he would have multiple shots blocked or saved, and he would have less counter attacking chances with the opposition defense sitting so deep. You saw how even Arsenal had to play a deep defensive line to stop Manchester City from creating chances and winning. Haaland has 19 non penalty goals which is the same as Watkins so the no penalties argument doesn’t even matter.

    • @rebekah4679
      @rebekah4679 Před 9 dny +4

      @marvinprudencio7321 Haaland wouldn't score as many goals if City players didn't pass the ball to him😅 he offers you goals but not much else. That's why he looks so Lukaku-ish when City plays teams like Liverpool or Madrid. Everyone else is playing football while he's merely waiting to score. I have no issue with that. That's what he is supposed to do as a forward.
      I'm not getting the point you're trying to make with Watkins. 'If this or that were the case' doesn't really work in reality.
      If prime Barcelona wasn't set up the way it was, perhaps Messi would not have scored so many goals.
      You could argue but then again, conjectures have infinite possibilities.
      Watkins has lots of assists. It's not just goals. And the fact that he has a lot of goal contributions in a Villa team... irrespective of their structure... is worthy of praise. Do you really think coaches would purposely set up their teams for failure? Or set up their teams in a manner that would not be beneficial to their forwards?
      Haaland is the more clinical striker but Watkins, overall, is better.
      Stats aside, the eye test shows me that Ollie is the more dynamic player.
      I don't like how people try to minimise what players like Watkins, Isak and/or Solanke have accomplished this season. If they played for City or Liverpool or even Chelsea (like Cole Palmer), people would be waxing poetic about them.
      Meanwhile, players like Eze or Olise who've been out of the Palace team for large chunks of the season have good performances and scored quality goals but they won't be hyped like Palmer.

Also, ffp charges span till 2018, and were minor charges since 2017, so 2021/22 season definitely is suspicion free, and 18/19 less arguably so.

    The problem with most stats is that a player could literally pass the ball 3 times or more and make great passes and not make the last pass before the goal scorer and another player could just make one pass before the goal and just basic passes and his stats will look better in terms of assits. Stats isn't everything.

    u can’t get stuck in between putting them in off legacy and this season alone like gary’s put gabriel and white in based off this season alone but not van dijk or trent then he’s said haaland when he’s got less g/a in a super team. It needs to be a constant theme throughout the team or fully based off this season alone

      @@roykeane1922 they quite simply have, it’s hard to compare when arsenals team as a whole is better. Trent was running games for us all season until february when he got injured and if he didn’t play we barely made a chance all game. With van dijk there’s only so much he can do he’s played with 3 different partners all season with only konate being at a top level who’s played about 15 prem games. I love quansah but he’s not a top centre back yet, playing nexto saliba is much easier than playing with a 20 year old centre back who played for bristol rovers😭 then add in the factor of trent basically playing as a number 10, gomez being his left back he was a one man defence for large margins of this season meanwhile gabriel has played in a system with 4 centre backs and 2 natural dm’s all season

      if u asked any team in the league who they’d rather have for a game tomorrow out of van dijk and gabriel 99% of them say van dijk it’s just the fact we fell off a bit in recent weeks that he won’t be included. If our attackers could finish at all in the last month we’d still be in the title race and we’d be saying van dijk is the best in the league

    I am surprised there is no mention for Ruben Dias, who has been crucial for Man City with last minute tackles and leadership. Saliba and Gabriel are good but Ruben Dias is better given he hasn't made an error all season which cannot be said for the like of Arsenal CBs.
